JGLS starts expulsion of students busted with 1 kg of hash for alleged campus dealing

JGLS Sonepat has asked two of its third-year law students to explain why they should not be suspended or expelled from the law school, after the Indian Express reported that they had been arrested by the Haryana police on Sunday for allegedly possessing nearly 1 kg of hashish, with a reported street value of around Rs 1.3 lakh.

JGLS slams HC freeing gangrape convicts after 4 months: Judges blame victim, call rape an ‘escapade’, show compassion for ‘young [rapist] minds’ [READ ORDER]

The Punjab and Haryana high court has suspended the 20-year and 7-year rape sentences of three JGLS Sonepat students, reasoning in its short order of merely 12 pages that “an alternate story of casual relationship” and “adventurism and experimentation in sexual encounters” of the victim - also a JGLS Sonepat student - justified the suspension, reported several media outlets.

Karanjawala for Ryan murder accused in SC, gets bar associations to back-off from restraining legal representation

"The Supreme Court on Monday criticised the bar association of the Gurgaon district courts for passing a resolution calling upon lawyers to not defend the accused in the murder of a sevenyear-old student at Ryan International School. A three-judge bench, led by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, warned local lawyers against preventing the advocates of the accused from appearing in court and defending them," reported the Economic Times.
