He belongs to the coal belt (Asansol) and had once suggested the setting up of a second campus of NUJS in Asansol. He has been taking an active role in the affairs of NUJS, unlike any other law minister from the past. It was under his tenure that domicile quota was introduced, Talukdar and NKC appointed as VCs, and the new BSc LLB criminology course approved

1. The top 4 are more or less without any surprise. I think most people other than trolls would agree with it at this stage.
2. NLUJ is an important omission in this year. Jindal is another, but they have so far stayed out of this as a matter of policy. NLUJ has participated in the past. One wonders why they could not or did not participate in this year.
3. NLS has shown significant improvement (2.5 points overall from last year). Their teaching learning resources and graduate outcomes have dropped a little, but there is a huge jump in research and publications. This is probably because of all the new hires and the new admin encouraging the faculty to publish more.
4. The perception ranking, always a subject of criticism directed at NIRF, does not disappoint this year either. There are many examples of this, but let us just consider a couple for now. NUJS' perception score has dropped hard to 50, which cannot be accounted for by any specific reason, since it has apparently done well in all other parameters, thereby mitigating the damage to the overall score. In fact, without the perception score, the overall scores of NLUD, NALSAR and NUJS across other parameters are 274.54, 271.91, and 272.79 respectively, so not really much to choose from these 3 yet. I would personally have favoured NLUD over the other 2 myself had I been joining law school now, but that is because I believe that an enterprising law student can make excellent use of the proximity to Delhi (SC, law firms etc.) and there is no harm in having better infra and hostel even if it is not essential to my studies. I honestly have not seen any qualitative difference between the grads of NLS, NALSAR, NLUD and NUJS in the industry or academia, but I don't want to get into that debate at all. Even without the perception score, the top 4 would have remained almost the same, with NUJS and NALSAR swapping their positions, that's all. What makes this perception score of NUJS completely ridiculous is that universities like Symbi and Christ have scored 65 and 61, and ILI Delhi has scored 74! I do not know how this score is calculated, because NIRF has never revealed objective details, but based on what they do reveal on their websites, academics prefer to join Symbi, Christ and ILI over NUJS and industry people prefer the grads of Christ, ILI and Symbi a lot over NUJS grads. Both of these, I can speak from experience, are bollocks! My own alma may have enough legacy achievements and current positive developments to merit a high perception score, but scoring 100/100 is really a bit too much. I really hope that NIRF would either scrap this parameter altogether or reveal objectively verifiable details about how it is calculated.
5. Jamia comes up two notches this year (7 to 5). This place has been doing steadily better in these rankings (got the 7th rank couple of times before, 8th and 9th once each). I honestly don't know much about the place, having met only a few grads from there, but if it can keep this up, then hopefully, its placement scene will improve eventually, which will be a good thing for the students.
6. I had hoped GNLU to have a better rank in this year, maybe within top 5, but it still does not seem to have figured out how to make that leap yet. It was doing well till 2021 (highest rank: 6), but lagged a little behind since then. This year it too has been hit by the perception monster though, scoring only 53 in that front.
7. Symbi is back to the middle of the top 10, after having a meteoric rise to 3 last year. As I mentioned earlier, its perception score is a bit of an enigma. It has one of the lowest research and publication scores though, should focus on it much more.
8. The enigmatic Siksha O Anusandhan still retains a top 10 position (in fact, it has improved its ranking from 9 to 8) and has a perception score that is not that far from NUJS or GNLU. I confess that I haven't met anyone from this place yet, only seen their ads. Which is what surprises me, given their rank.
9. IIT KGP has fallen from 6 to 9 this year, their teaching learning resources having taken a hit, which even an increased research score could not offset entirely.
10. The new entrant in the top 10 is Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. Previously, it was a college, and had ranked the last in 2018 (10th) and 2019 (15th). Since then, it had not featured till this year. Again, I know a couple of grads from there who are into litigation, don't know much about the place.
11. KIIT, AMU, Saveetha, Sastra and LPU are featuring in the 11-16 zone, with the order having changed a little from last year. Christ comes up to 13 this year, with a robust perception score. BHU has dropped from 20 to 22.
12. NLIU Bhopal continues to languish, having dropped 3 places from last year (15 to 18) and barely remains within the top 20. Unfortunate to see one of the older NLUs gradually dropping through the ranks. A little surprising given their alumni base and decent placements. Their infra is not bad there, though location is a problem.
13. HNLU continues to remain out of the ranking, which one would have thought would change after VCV took over as the VC. They don't seem to be ready enough for this yet.
14. NLUO has slipped a few spots and just retained a rank within 30 (25 last year). NLUJA has dropped from 24 to 28 in this year, though I am not sure how it continues to remain ahead of NLUO (the teaching learning resources score is the only parameter in which it is ahead in this year).
15. RGNUL and RMLNLU both have slipped a few spots in this year, though remains within top 30. NUSRL has dropped from 22 to 24. NUALS still has not come back after 2021.
16. 3 new private universities have joined the fray in this year, Alliance from Bengaluru, Nirma from Gujarat, and Manipal from Jaipur. UPES, which was there at a respectable 21 rank last year, is not there at all in this year. Amity Gurgaon has come up from 27 last year to 23 in this year and Army Law Institute maintains the same 26th position.
17. The 3 MNLUs, CNLU, TNNLU, DSNLU, NLU Sonepat, NLU Tripura are still not here. The last 2 may be too new, but the others should have been around somewhere. At least CNLU, DSNLU have been around for long enough.
That's it from my side. These are all objective quant observations apart from my little rant about the perception score, which has got several quant points in support. I honestly don't care about the upvoting, downvoting or trolling. People may do any or all of those and/or comment/ troll to their hearts' content. So long as they take some interest in the legal education sector here. If I get time, I will publish a detailed analysis of all NIRF data over the last few years some day. Till then, cheers!

"While we understand your concerns regarding the compensation package, work hours, and expectations, we believe it is important for any member of the firm to align with our internal expectations, policies, and organisation structures.
Based on our conversation today, I have had an extended chat with my team. Considering the misalignment in expectations, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to move forward with the previously extended offer. We understand that this may be disappointing news, but we believe it is essential to ensure a suitable fit for both parties involved.
We genuinely appreciate your interest in joining Spice Route Legal, and we wish you good luck in your future endeavours. We hope you find an opportunity that aligns with your career aspirations and meets your desired expectations."
Please keep in mind the fresher - already desperate for a job was not looking to have a work life balance, but merely enquiring.

Also referring to the above comment, no stipend unless you are a graduate, then maybe a slight possibility.

- NLU ranking is NLSIU>NLUD>NALSAR>NUJS>GNLU>NLIU>RGNUL>RMLNLU>NLU Ranchi>NLU Assam >NLUO. This is fine, except for the fact that NLUJ should be included and ranked below GNLU and above NLIU. Also, HNLU should be included and ranked below RMLNLU and above NLU Ranchi.
- NLSIU retains 100/100 perception rank for the 7th year running, as well as a very good faculty research score. This remains the biggest reason why NLSIU remains #1.
- The graduate outcomes (placements) score for NLSIU, NLUD, NALSAR and NUJS are almost the same., but the research and perception score much lower than NLSIU.
- NUJS has an extremely poor perception rank of 50/100, the lowest among all the major NLUs. But its placement score is above NLUD and NALSAR.
Thus, if any college wants to overtake NLSIU, it needs to need up faculty research and perception: essentially, do what Sudhir is doing by hiring well-qualified faculty.

Please look at the median data for salary of students placement, NLUD claims that it has placed 59 students and the median salary is 19 lakhs pa. This would mean if we arrange the student salary in a descending order then the 30th student has got a salary of 19 lpa. Which also means that at least 30 students from NLUD have got a salary of 19 lpa. Look at publicly available data, NLUD has placed around 25 in tier 1 last year, and a couple of TCs. As we all know A0 in T1 firms (dependent on some negotiation and location) get around 16 lpa. So unless exceptional bonuses have already been awarded, this data is FALSE.
SO, NLUD CONTINUES ITS TRADITION OF LYING AND SUBMITTING FALSE INFO.
1.NLSIU
2.NLUD
3.NALSAR
4.NUJS
5.Jamia
NLUD continues to soar ahead of NALSAR. NALSAR and NUJS move a rank up because of the disappearance of Symbiosis from the rankings.Curious to see where NLUJ and GNLU will place.

Notable exception is Germany; Deutsche Bahn has never in my life reached on the right time any time I have boarded it but it is still better than the UK.
Where would you even drive to from Bangalore? If you want to send your vehicle to your hometwon at some point, it would be around 4k. Long distance travel has 0 advantage in this scenario. You can easily get 80Km out of your scooter as well.
1. I know this advice of maintaining grades and preparing for clat is a lot easier said than done. I should take into consideration your mental health too. Know this when I mention it - getting balanced grades (rank of 1-20) in the batch and preparing for clat 3-4 hours are enough. Trust me. You just have to do it everyday. And follow your schedule rigorously. Listen to good music , talk to your batchmates and have a good laugh. You can do it.
Regards.
It cost me a heck lot.
I've been allotted LLM in HNLU this time around. How is the course, faculty, facilities and are there placement for LLM students?
Increments are decent but completely dependent on the team, bonus is also completely up to the partner and billing.
The above comment may be talking about off counsels or long time interns etc.
But if you are in a reasonably well paying law firm job, think Tier 1 and Tier 1ish and don't blow your money i.e. save reasonably well, you should be able to afford a 5 Cr+ house once you hit a PQE of about 11-12 years (about 35 I would think).
Source: I have the same background as you, started with the same salary as you and am able to afford.
PS: This assumes you progress reasonably well in your law firm career (i.e. good reviews, strategic jumps in your career etc.)
Also, how much do they pay their A0s and A1s?
Here's a shout out to all those lawyers who make the workplace better - through their wits, tits or dicks!
*I know that dicks don't rhyme with wits or tits, but it was that or clits.
Please join us for this wonderful occasion where we re-write the sources of law and their hierarchy. Now, it is as follows:
1. This guy's senior, who is a designated counsel, fam prop law, estates.
2. Statutes
3. Case law
4. Customary law
Please spread the message! I had been looking at the wrong sources of law my entire life!
No one can possibly stop working by 6 if you think about it for just one second - you have court till 3/4/5. Then you have client meetings. Then you have to prepare for the next day. Assuming there are no pending drafts.
At many law schools you don't even need to attend the classes. Just write whatever in the exam. It's probably the easiest course to get into and graduate from. Thinking otherwise is just delusional to make yourself feel better. There is a reason why 90% of lawyers are incompetent and wouldn't be able to make a proper draft of anything even if their life dependent upon it.
and thinking lawyers don't run the show - in the business sense, yeah, but someone at the level of Salve will always have the right connections that run most of the things around you.
Work was good. They had good high ticket matters in Insolvency and banking disputes. But the overall ragging and hostile work environment is a big mood dampener. Infact I shortened by internship with them. Wouldn't recommend the firm for a long term career option.
1. Arsenal - last league title was in 2003. No UCL ever. Has even skipped playing CL in most years during the past decade.
2. Man United - 10+ years since a league title. 15+ years since a UCL title. Has spent billions in the transfer market during the last decade to even struggle to compete for the top 4.
3. Everton? The club has barely escaped relegation for two years in a row.
Most teams haven't even been characterised correctly, leave alone tagging a uni on them.
YOU HAVE THE CV ! Just reject directly or don’t respond !
However, i do have a caveat. Under the new adminstration of Ved Kumari things are not looking very good, at least campus life wise. She and her stooges just run for any opportunity, they get, to make the lives of students miserable. I will not meddle in to the specifics, but they have brought in many so called 'Examination' , 'Academic' and 'cultural' reforms which might result in even jeopardizing your careers. In few years the NLUO will, if things remain same as they are, become just like any other traditional university where admin and students are always on cross roads leading to frequent protests and clashes.
To give you a spoiler, the numbers are over 70 in toto. Out of which 40-45 are tier 1s or so to say the firm's who pay salaries above 14 LPA.
I mean he will most probably not be anyone's ideal 'self made lawyer' to whom you may look up to, but dude's the SG!
1. Juniors don't know the law the way it is practiced. Surely, they may know the sections and statutes, but not how it manifests in contracts, deals and courtrooms. As a result they have to spend a lot more time in doing any work. A senior might do a draft in half an hour. A junior might take 4 hours to do the same thing. So a junior billing 500 per hour is actually costing 2000, and a senior billing 6000 per hour is actually billing 3000 only for the same work. Not much difference now. Eh?
2. Seniors before them/partners have learned the law, spent time practicing, developed the understanding, then developed the agreements, materials and house resources on the shoulders of which the juniors work. Juniors do not have to spend time on developing and gathering the resources. They get it as part of the house' resource banks, which shortens their paths to progress.
3. The juniors do not have to spend time hunting for work. Think about it this way. A junior getting 100% of the monetary value of the work is also going to be spending time and resources hunting for work. A law firm saves that as it produces benefits specializations - i.e., a junior ends up using full 250 hours of his potential in billable work, which wouldn't be the case otherwise. Suppose a junior spending 125 hours of doing billable work and 125 hours in hunting for work. Does not look as rosy now. Eh?
4. Juniors ride on the goodwill of the firm and partners. Goodwill is a real thing. It may not be apparent to juniors and all who have been spoon fed from their parents, their schools and their colleges. No client would give juniors any work unless there is some senior leader/partner involved in the pipeline. That's goodwill which is earned over years of doing good work. Juniors bypass that process and are able to do billable work from day one at the firm because of their leader/partner's goodwill. So they need to pay off for that goodwill from the monetary value of their work. Think of it as a franchise license cost.
5. Junior's work is filtered and supervised by seniors, which provides them with a fail-safe against juniors damaging their reputation. Even a scratch on one's reputation can prove fatal, but juniors are saved from such scratches as the senior's experience helps cushion junior's mistakes while the latter gets a safe space to hone and develop their skills and experience.
^ All of the above are intangibles which don't become apparent to those eager to rebel without any rhyme or a reason. Don't go with half-baked ideas into your legal career and end up hurting yourself without so much as moving even one stone in anyone's life.
If you want to be a footballer, you don't play table tennis!

Exposure - it's a disputes team that is entirely focused on banking disputes. Around 80% of the work would focus on SARFAESI and RDB Act. It's a good place if you want to specialise in banking disputes since they have a very good name in DRT. Few good NCLT matters in Insolvency are present as well. Not much work in Arbitration and civil/commercial litigation before the Bombay High Court.
Work environment - it's an extremely rough work environment. There is a superficial nice environment where they would ask you not to address them as sir/ma'am and that's where it stops. It's a nightmare to work with them and that explains the heavy attrition rate. I left Mumbai after development mental health issues whilst my experience with them. I left the day i completed a year with them. The concerned junior partner and the founder partner is extremely rude and would throw the files at you and pass personal remarks for small typos and incidental errors that wouldn't have hurt even a mosquito.
Pay - they pay enough to survive in Mumbai. Not much but good compared to other Litigation chambers in Mumbai that pay peanuts.
See a therapist and have your priorities sorted.

I took GMAT, and scored 730. Is it worth applying for MBA at this age (in Europe/ USA)? Also considering a career as management consultant. I am just wondering if it's bit late now.

I asked them repeatedly to give me a feedback or atleast a reason as to why was I rejected so I can improve and do better in the future . I never got a reply .
Also the interviewer when ending the interview said please feel free to contact us at any time . Please tell me how do I interpret this ? Doesn’t this make sense that I assume I got it or atleast I’ll proceed to next round ?
You can not get away without understanding how competitive the internship market is and everyone is holding on to strings just to get 1 good internship. We are humans ! We have feelings and we go through a lot !
Don’t treat us like trial animals on whom you can experiment .
This is my last post on this situation , but this firm including touchstone must be called out !
Also, while we are discussing about a firm, my humble request is that people who have had nice experience should also mention it here for applicants to make an informed choice.
Disclaimer: I don't have any interest in Resolut and I don't work there.
1. You can obviously retake clat but thoroughly analyse where you went wrong. Did you make mistakes like wrongly filling OMR bubbles or marking correct answer as a wrong one. If yes then definitely retake it.
If not the above problem , do you think you still can give your best? Trust me procrastination is seriously annoying. If that impeded you from performing your best (coupled with other personal factors) , then please retake it. Honestly speaking if you make it into a tier-1 , it can stabilise your life a bit. If you think you can still give your 100 percent , lage raho.
2. SLS-P is doing amazing now my friend. If you feel that you are exhausted with your clat prep , you can just choose not to do it. Have you seen this year’s placements? Some of my close friends who are studying at SLS are really happy with the improvement. It has a long way to go but hey there is nothing sls can’t offer you.
3. Clat is not easy anymore. It’s easy in parts but on a whole new level you have to prepare rigorously to handle the adversity and unpredictability. The reason I am saying this because I know very well that you might be swayed away from your target if you feel you have already a year and half worth of prep. Don’t do that mistake if you are retaking clat. Give yourself some time. Think about your reasoning. Positively practise and maintain your grades at sls.
4. Don’t lose focus from your academia - Maintain your grades at sls and learn to sacrifice. There will be fresher parties , dine outs and more fun activities - but don’t let that distracts you if you are serious about clat 2024. Do intern and partake in moot orientations. That will still be academically nourishing.
5. Don’t listen to people who mention that you don’t have it in you to crack clat or any other exam for that matter. Aim for the best ranks in the exam (trust me it can even help you to get Aditya Birla scholarship - did wonders for me) , and you are sorted. But sls pune in itself is very nice if not the best.
If you face any problem , you can reach out to me. But before that you can follow the advice given here :)

Then how can u say that they won'tgo after gnlu/nliu
Also a lot of people face repeated bad luck on exam day , so they might give the exam more than twice
If only LI's UI allowed for seeing which comment was numbered what (9.2, 9.2.6...). BRING THE OLD UI BACK!
The only reason it was better "ranked" was because students taking admissions preferred IP campus over Noida. Obvious reasons, and Amity wasn't even as developed back then.
