Collegium must not fall at all.
Compare Kolkata offices to that of any other tier-1 city. Kolkata Khaitan may be T1 but definitely the worst of all T1 offices out there. No one's first preference would be KK (except localities) when Mumbai and Delhi offices are miles better.
Ridiculous. I didn't do the internship then and thankfully so.

They aforementioned threads can you help make an accurate decision! All the best :)))
1. From a college without rpc connections with kco
2. Are rank 1 AND scored high in important subjects
3. Have interned at 2 tier 1s in the same practice.
4. Have stellar feedback in those internships
5. Have some publications in star sites.
6. Have good finance or legal references.
You can bypass all that by
1. Having a partner contact. If you don't, cold mail. Yes 99% don't reply, but cold mail partners.
Rules of Cold mailing for internships
1. Make a stellar cover letter by writing about yourself and your past (practice area based in law or finance) achievements in the body of the mail. The last line must mention the attached CV. Attach a standard CV (ATS)
2. Follow up in 2 weeks. Do not follow up again. You risk getting blacklisted in the future. Personally know people. Partners are very powerful and can f ur life.
4. Subject of the mail strictly - Internship Reference/ College/ Practice area / Dates.
5. Do not CC the HR or anybody else, unless expressly asked to do so by the partner. Doing so fks up the internal process and a lot of time is wasted in this. Do not partners have to coordinate with clients, juniors, interns, PPOs etc.
5.If you do or don't get a reply, don't start boasting about it to everybody and telling ur friends to do the same. The partner saw something in ur profile that was worthy, don't risk ur internship being revoked. Yes a partner can get that done too.
6. Don't call/ sms/ whatsapp message
7. Don't lie, not worth it.
8. Mention your academics please, need not be topper, but mention them. They do matter.
9.Dont use this route if you have rpc connections. The HR won't respond.
10. Some firms have very centralised systems, partner refs don't work. For example, SnR, TTA, JSA, Kco, somewhat Luthra, CAM. Mostly tier 1s, try this with tier 2s.
Pay is avg...for freshers 45-50K
Will advice you something even if I don't have the credentials or exp to., but have observed.
Join anywhere. ANYWHERE. Don't look at practice area, location, pay. Just join anywhere. With this I don't mean litigation, that's another ball game. Join even semi legal, or non legal roles, but someone hiring. Then network. Create a network.
Go to linkedin, firms constantly put out freshers hiring posts, not too often tho, just apply and try to get in. When you have 2 to 3 years of experience, u will find gates open for you everywhere. You will be in need. Then be a little picky, Join tier 2s or 1s.
But don't wait, just join anywhere.
1) Sir how can I tackle problem of college reputation, internships and extra curricular at this stage ? I am supremely stressed that the damage is irrepairable. My classmates and I were too focused on judicial services.
Another question is that:-
2) i want to avoid disputes team like the plague! I have started to hate incompetent and lethargic judiciary !
Thanking you
Unless someone is willing to
1. Years for partnership by firm, by practice area
2. Disputes practice and going to courts
3. What the hell is general corp
I am open to interning in the odd months as well, maybe November.
-Final year student here.
P.S.: I have 4+ years of experience and a graduate of Delhi law faculty. Still facing difficulties finding job in companies. Be clear buddy.
All of those people need to be paid- they need students to teach. they need research centres that will make them come to nls. Taking an institution building perspective is hard when you feel like a lot is changing and youre not sure if the only thing you had going for you was the selectivity of the institution. But the institution will be better off for these changes in 5 years time, and would have lost its relevance if this stuff hadnt happened. venkat rao was bad for the institution, its reputation, the capabilities of its graduates- had all slipped.

I hear every now and then, that for how long reservation will continue and this is this and that - please be mindful of the fact that reservation in favour of the OBCs, SCs and STs has been there for only 75 - 25 years, if at all, and you feel so outraged, what about centuries of discrimination that was enforced by the Upper Castes? What is happening is redemption for centuries of discrimination - even if it continues for 75 more years, will still not match what the Upper Caste did for centuries and brought about this huge chasm in the society.
There is one more factor to notice - the Upper Caste policy makers realised that they can't eliminate reservation and continue with their hegemony, so they came out with an innovative idea i.e., increase the numbers castes under the OBCs, SCs and STs (unfortunately, everyone feels a great achievement to be included)- the effect is that it has become so competitive to qualify in these categories that it is as good as no reservation for many on the lower strata of such categories. So the well-offs of these respective categories are able to exploit this system more than those at the lower strata of such categories and this will be the undoing of the reservation.
The other effect is this policy of hundred cuts is that castes under General are reducing while the castes under the OBC, ST and SC is ballooning, which will in times to come will make it relatively easier to get selected under the General Category. This will give rise to voice for elimination of reservation by the OBC, ST and SCs themselves. And, this is what GCs want.
President Gopala Naik was one of the finest and astute Presidents the country had witnessed in the recent past. His commitment to duty and his prescience of danger was unparalleled to even the most seasoned politicians around. Honour and respect found him easily, and he had a commanding voice over the executive. Naik was not a politician by trade. He was too sincere to be one. He was an astronomer and physicist who played a major role in Chandrayaan missions, as well as the Gaganyaan missions.
But, as he was strolling this morning in the Rashtrapati Bhavan, in one of his usual leisurely walks, Naik, a stubby man in composition, had a troubled look on his face, an unusual demeanour for the otherwise jovial fellow. The cause of much anxiety emerged from recent events. A bench ruled by the Supreme Court had, six days ago, overturned the basic structure doctrine of the Indian Constitution. What was even more concerning to Naik was that his Prime Minister, Sashikala Banerjee relayed that the cabinet, and her party, had unanimously decided on a course correction for the nation, which was, according to her, long needed. She proposed a far-reaching overhaul of the constitution and that the government intends on introducing a constitution amending bill in the parliament which, among other things, removed 'India' from Article 1, made Hindi a national language, and greatly restructured Part III of the Constitution. This had shaken Naik's conscience. He strongly protested with Banerjee that he could not possibly assent to such a bill. But she had insisted that he was bound to assent to bills emanating from the parliament.
As he strolled around the luxuriant gardens, in this sunny but pleasant morning, Naik, besmirched in guilt, embarrassment, and a profound sense of helpless, weighed his options. He was stuck in a Gordian knot, but could manage to conjure a few options. One, to refer the matter to the Supreme Court as a special reference. That was, however, pointless as K. T. Ramalingam, the current Chief Justice, would side with the government given the recent ruling that the parliament had an unrestrained power to amend the constitution. The second option was to call for a special sitting of the parliament and for him to chair the sitting and openly speak his mind about the dangerous course of these proposed amendments. That was an option to consider, although it was tricky constitutionally whether he can exercise such a discretion. To be presidential, for all pageantries and platitudes that accompany the role, is nothing but playing a character in a script over which the actor has no creative liberty whatsoever. The position is just placed to fill the transcendent nominal space in constitutional law, much like the Rex or Regina in England. A famous adage that he read in Oxford came to his mind. One married a Duke more for the status than the pleasure. Seemed like it is apt in the context of becoming a President in India too, more for the status than the pleasure. Naik decided on a third option. Given the severity of the proposed amendments, and the radical nature of the changes, Naik will send the bill for reconsideration to Parliament. The President has to assent if the bill comes to him a second time, there's no way out. But.... he will resign when it comes to him the second time, and write a letter that he cannot, in good, conscience sign the bill. That will, even if not stop the bill from becoming a law, will atleast greatly cast aspersions on its legitimacy and validity by all moral and ethical standards, if not legal standards. Yes, that is what Naik will do! Great plan!!
As he turned to enter the central dome back to his residence, with a smile having returned to his earlier morose face, the poor Naik did not know that he will die of a stroke within 15 hours. Nay, he will be killed within 15 hours, and the world will be made to believe that it was a stroke.
Also, stop calling anything and everything "woke* when it got nothing to to with politics and social justice. Unnecessarily makes all conversations toxic as fuck. This is coming from someone who is totally opposed to a mug-up system of negotiated grand viva.
An alliance of all so called shoshit pichda vanchit will be formed against Upper castes. Just wait for 10-15 years. BJP is heavily doing Ohh Beee Ceee(OBC) politics.
Lesson for upper castes- form your own party, stop doing Dindutva Dindutva, your immediate threat are not muslim but OBC. Theres no called hindu unity or shit. There can be Savarna Unity but savarna have no enemy consciousness as to who are enemies. OBC and others have one. OBC want to break UC hegemony and install itself. Ofcourse it has no intent to remove casteism but OBC uses SC/ST as bait.
Lesson-
Work hard and give back to your caste as ultimately your caste will look after you. And we can convert to islam too, islam brotherhood is insane. They have castes too but they have better enemy consciousness. BTW its brutal upper caste rule in Pakistan maybe islam is the way 😂😂😂.
If we convert we will be 40 percent muslim viola you have something there and then we can do JITNI ABAADI UTNA HAQ.
Mere (T2) firm me '23' batch avi tak induct ho rhe, 24th ka start v nhi hua or ye 26 ka soch rha 🤣 phle pass krke last yr m enter kar fir
As for the VC, his days are numbered. He is trying to gather brownie points to get his tenure extended, but ig is inviting a massive student protest supported by faculty. Regardless of the grand viva, his actions are very chaotic and Tughlaq type
I'm currently interning in a Labour and Employment and WCC Team, and the "Investigations" primarily refers to Anti Bribery and Anti Corruption Work. A Common Statute that we work with on that front is the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Anything that comes under corporate and financial fraud can be brought into this practice area. It is fairly interesting work (As an Intern, I'm not privy to doing this work, but I've heard about it from the other associates in the team), including a lot of client meetings, analysing recordings or other material to determine whether or not there was a case of fraud.
Collegium had years to try to make Judiciary more inclusive but they refused to do so.
Also don't get into all 'HC and SC judges are meritorious and deserve to be there' debate. They are making statements like Peacocks procreate by consuming tears and Cow milk contains gold. It's not just about representation from lower castes, even outsiders of UC don't get a fair chance.
Also collegium will recommend someone's elevation but if govt. Doesn't approve they are fine unless the person is one of their own (nepotism) They publicly released govt's objections for the first time when govt refused the appointment of former CJI's son who happened to be gay, I'm sure he is brilliant but it's funny how in a huge country like India the only gay person they found worthy happened to be son of Ex-CJI.
Also Judges like DYC are all talk, he talked and talks about diversity and inclusion so much but since his elevation not a single judge has been appointed to SC and 3 judges that have been elevated are product of nepotism.
If they are not willing to reform they should be dismantled.
SC is the first to see how govt. Should not decide on appointments and jumps at every chance to put CJI in every appointment committee (which is probably good for democracy) but they refuse to clean their own house. How is it different from monarchy where rulers decide who will rule after they are gone?
Let me be honest. Most people doing corporate law are in it for financial reasons, so there's nothing wrong with that.
Given that I've now reached the managerial side of things, I have seen how it works from this side:
1. There are far too many young lawyers chasing corporate jobs, so the Tier 1 firms hold the upper hand.
2. LinkedIn cold-call is poor form, avoid it.
3. Top firms use some things as basic screeners - college reputation, grades, internships, and extracurriculars (in that order). Informally, favourable recommendations from the legal fraternity (lawyers/judges), clients etc may help improve an applicants chances.
Therefore my suggestion is that you work on some of these parameters. District litigation can expose you to good matters. Develop a favourable reputation among clients. We have taken on disputes associates who have 3-4 years of credible trial work.
Best of luck.
Obviously not counting Trilegal “all-equity” model here.
However, then came in the faculty emails. All of them strongly disapproved the "negotiated grand viva" scheme. Personally, I think their concerns are totally legitimate. Makes no sense to make us mug up answers to particular questions. But the most surprising part of this entire saga was VC's mail berating faculty members who are opposed to his proposal.
Quoting him, "extremely unhappy with the attitude of teachers" like wow that's some really harsh words to say in public in front of all students
"discussed in the faculty meeting" Truly doubt that he mentioned all the details. Otherwise, we would have never seen these mail wars.
Talking about CAS promotion interviews was also a bit of a stretch. It really seems he is going after the faculty.
His final statement of "do whatever they think right in their judgment" perfectly indicates his new my way or highway attitude to everyone's legitimate concerns.
All of this is the backdrop of first post-covid protests in NUJS. More and more people are dissatisfied by his actions, not just limited to guards and students but now it extends to teaching faculty as well. At the same time, he keeps on doubling down.

I am a first year student at a T-1 Law school. I'm yet to give my end-term examinations but can't help feeling that I won't be doing as well as I can due to ill health. Is it possible to do well in subsequent trimester and top my cohort?
1. 3 year LLB was no need in NLS. Why started in NLS which wasset up for 5 year law only?
2.ballb seat increase from 80 to 300 seat is horrible decision.
(1) how is the faculty at NLSIU? I went through profiles in the website and many of them have strong credentials, but how are they as teachers in the classroo
m?
(2) do the good ones teach the 3 year LLBs? Or do they only teach the 5 year students?
Thanks.
