BUMP, please help this thread, there are many law students/lawyers who want to branch out and mba seems to be a very good likely option. If someone could shed light.
Why will a corporate lawyer see MBA (from India) as a viable option? End up getting less than your current salary after spending 25-40 lakh and a year.
Lawyers who have done MBA, and if they were successful in their desire to move out of law, are unlikely to be here. However, you can find a lot of people on LinkedIn, from what I have seen most Indian b-school grads end up in consulting.
Oh really?? Do you think MBA is meant for BA, B Com, Psychology and Fashion Design students from random private colleges? Coz after graduating from top B-schools, even these people end up getting better placements than βtier-1β NLUs π€‘π€‘
I know a few friends and acquaintances who did MBA after working few years at law firms β both foreign and Indian. Mostly they did their MBA in US/UK and not in India, and ended up in consulting or in I-banks. 1or 2 people I know ended up setting up their own non-law related start-ups. My take-away: MBA is not of much use if you want to stick to practicing law. Do it if (after spending 2-3 years as a corporate lawyer) you want to move to consulting or I-banking etc. If you work for a consulting firm like McKinsey, BCG etc. or join an I-bank abroad, money would be good or better than Indian corp-law, but work-life balance wonβt improve much (and may actually be worse).
