We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I completely agree. What I meant was even with an optimistic estimate, it's still pretty ridiculous.

ICICI is a great option for those who want good breakfasts and an even better work life balance. The career progression takes a dip with seniority & pay scale can't dream of eventually keeping up, but otherwise, as long as you don't mind the clerk-type in-house work profile, it's a decent option vis-a-vis T1s.
Why can't I rant? If after putting in the hard work and requisite number of hours, I rant on this platform to vent why is it a problem? This is my way of coping with it. I'm ranting but that does not mean I am not putting in the work as well. If you can come to this pedestrian platform as a so called academic, ranting about the quality of the student community and berating them as glorified clerks then why can't a student share his experience? You call them glorified clerks. This is what you call people who go for corporate jobs. Yes we want to become glorified clerks, that is our horizon of aspiration and that should be completely fine. Not everyone is privileged enough to pursue fancy LLMs and PhDs or go into litigation related work. Some of us come from low income families and have to put food on table. If firms prioritise grades as a metric of our competency we have to compete for those. Even top 5 students are vying for those jobs only. Then , the only person who seems to show arrogance and contempt is you and teachers like you. You show contempt for a student's career choices and arrogance about your own infallibility. Yes, I have tried to ask for 'feedback' from these teachers and have not received satisfactory answers. Also, I don't ask senior associates and partners to keep me engaged because it's not their job, and even then some of them explain different concepts and research propositions in a manner that we as interns feel engaged. I have asked for the most stupid questions and clarifications and have not once been berated by them, because they know that I am learning and it's okay to mistakes in the learning stage. No gainsaying that I have learnt more in my internships than I have from people like you who have no respect for their students, even when they work hard. No these teachers don't hate me, but that's not even my point to begin with. All I said was they have biases and that they are not perfect, exalted beings that are incapable of any error. You say you want all students succeed. The truth however is you would be happy if your pet students succeed and for the rest you wouldn't really care and would probably berate them on platforms like these. Please spare us the moral lecturing, professor. I never said it's okay not to work hard. I work hard despite the system being rigged against me. Andd, why are you spending time responding to this errant kid on this platform? Surely, teachers don't have time to hold personal grudges/engage in petty talk. The simple truth is this: It gives you an ego boost to show a student such as me 'their right place' because how dare can this lowly student even voice their concerns/find a venting space when the ultimate pinnacle of knowledge with 'multiple degrees' should have the last word on anything. I have had bad experiences with teachers and despite that I have never diluted the effort I put in to my work. You ideally should not negate my experience, but nothing I say would change your prejudiced views.
What the hell do I do with your comment?
Jocks too.

Almost all NLUs. After all they all swim in the same pond. TLC-NLU-foreign educated makes no difference. Only some are more urbane and suave than others.
Also was he the one who made the sexist comment in NLSIU concerning the dresses of female students? And then he was quickly accommodated as a VC somewhere? I think LI had done a story on Nagraj when the controversy broke at NLSIU.
They will just introduce themselves as NLS alums, try to get in LLB whatsapp groups, try to leverage LLB alum networks and what not. In a way I think it is disadvantageous to actual NLU grads as these lallums want to take benefits of both LLB networks, that is their own grad school LLB network and their PG school's LLB network. I mean I strived hard, sacrificed and dropped a couple of years to join NLS and make use of its networking power and alum connections and here are these lallums who want to do it for free. That way I will say even MBL students should be allowed. It should either be all or none.
Be careful.

To answer the question, I didn't know about this place called N.L.S. until now, and I'm quite intreagued to learn about it. But seriously, you guys sure as hell gotta develop a thicker skin, if you're from there. Hell, we used to kid even LLM's who'd been to law school at Oxford for Christ's sake, so how do you think we'd treat folks from a place most of us hadn't heard of in a country half of us couldn't find on a map?
Guys, you carry on like this and the attitude of even folks like me who'd kid LLM's just to troll, rather than to put 'em down, will be like that of that there guy the limeys call Sherlock Holmes. The old Brit once said something pretty smart, apparently: 'Now that I know it, I'll do my best to forget it'. That'll be about how folks at Harvard would start thinking about N.L.S.
In reality, IIULER is not owned by BCI - It is owned by the BCI Trust - PEARL FIRST established on 2020 as a Public Charitable Trust under the Delhi Registration Act. BCI Trust - PEARL FIRST is an INDEPENDENT and AUTONOMOUS BODY and is not a part/unit of BCI (Refer BCI Notifications in their official website)!
Nowhere in the website of IIULER discloses the said thing. Moreover, they did not mention that it is a PRIVATE UNIVERSITY established under Section 2(f) and they are not getting any fund from UGC/government under Section 12(b) of UGC Act!
NLUs, IIULER, Symbiosis all are using

Does anyone here know about any part time gigs in the legal arena (like research, proof reading, etc) that require a couple of hours worth of work per day? (or more, I don't mind)
Or if you're aware of any places where I can find such opportunities that would be great as well! So far I've already scoured through LinkedIn and other websites.
I'm a 2024 graduate (in case that's relevant), and since job hunting is going shit anyway, might as well try to earn something in the meanwhile. Any inputs are welcome!
Masters only for specialisation. Fullstop.
Minimum requirement to practice. LLB.

He bought a car worth 35 Lakhs and 2.5 lakhs for a music system in the car from the university fund. At the same time, the university does not have the budget for hostel mess. He is working very hard that's why he does not have time to meet students, faculty members and staff. He is recruiting faculty without any public notice.
This is for tier 1s, and for top NLU students. SAM, CAM, Tri, Kco, S&R, JSA .

Starting with the CGPA part. Brother/Sister, humbly speaking, what's done is done. Right? Can you do anything about the marks that have been permanently engraved on your marksheet? No, right? Does this mean you will stop aspiring to work at T1? Definitely NO!
Now all you can do is the best you can possibly imagine with your studies. Try to outshine even the toppers as a successor to their legacy. The more you score for the remaining tenure of your degree, the higher the average CGPA will become. Try to keep it above 8 as much as possible.
Coming to your chances of ever working in T1. I'd say depends not only on marks but many other factors, but it doesn't mean that marks hold less value cuz they do! I am talking about maximizing your chances only. And to do so, improve your portfolio, and work on your CV. Learn drafting. Take part in MCCs actively. All these things will point towards your intellectual prowess, the thing that T1s want the most in their future candidates.
The rest is upon your determination and aspiration. The harder you desire to achieve a dream, the bigger your likelihood of finding pathways that can lead you to your dreams.
All the best!
After having to relocate from a Tier 2 city to a Metro was definitely a daunting task. Especially navigating brokers, landlords, support persons and doing things for the first time. While we talk so much about how to start our legal career, no one tells us about the challenges in shifting cities and finding your comfort. In this regard, I had a slightly rough start with some landlord issues. But now I am doing fine. I had my first day at work yesterday. We had a nice orientation, interactions with teams and partners and overall a smooth start to the journey. I know it's very early but I think things will slowly fall in place. I think law firm/litigation/any legal career sometimes becomes so thankless that we forget to see our value professionally, affecting us personally. I only hope I can find like-minded co Associates at my firm. I got some work that I realised that I enjoyed doing. What I was really worried was whether I would like the work I do. I think that I might. And that's the best feeling I can have right now.
Not trying to make a journal entry here, sorry if I still ended up doing. To those who are working their ass off for a job, give your best and come with a clean slate. Don't let too many reviews and feedback sink into you before you even get to experience it. Those still figuring out or trying to make it, I hope you do. There is little I can do at my level. But I hope you do find your way and best wishes for that.
PS: I hope through LegallyIndia, we can make the young lawyer community more friendly, welcoming and positive.
Many people do really well after leaving such a household where there is extreme lack of independent thought.
Build your finances, learn all home chores. And then move out. Take care of yourself.
SILF will therefore try to probably further delay entry by funding vexatious litigation before High Courts on constitutionality, praying for non implementation etc
As far as interning with Pradeep Rai is concerned. It may seem like the easiest option for all of us, but for kids whoβre studying at small private colleges, Iβm quite certain theyβd learn a lot through these posts.
All Iβm saying is, live and let live. You wouldnβt enjoy being shat on for not knowing the basics on your first day as an A0, would you?
Just talk to people. Shoot that message you're unsure of, comment that doubt or opinion. Talk to your professors they would know people. Socialise (not necessarily sutta or dink). But you gotta make the move to make progress.
Remember: In the end, everything works out. Having done all, just wait.
Coming to the point, it's not worth the money. 60 lacs is way too much for law.
1. In order to recoup the money, she'll have to stuck her mind that she needs to go for corporate. She isn't going to have open mind for litigation or Judiciary.
2. Even if she goes for corporate and fetches highest possible package, it'll take her more than 5 years to build 60 lacs corpus. Loan is even worse.
3. See if she can take a drop. If not, go for universities like SLS Pune, ILNU Ahmedabad, JGLS, or Amity. If she's of the view that she needs to invest the money. She can rather invest in exchange program where you get to undertake one semester at a foreign University. You also get to intern at firms like Linklaters or A&O. Linklaters make 5 times more money than Indian T-1 firms combined.
4. To be very honest, education institution doesn't matter as much. If you're really dedicated - participating in extracurricular, writing research papers, taking initiatives, undergoing internships, you can beat anyone from T-1 universities, who lacks dedication. Having said that, you should look for challenging environment rather than namesake colleges. Approach seniors and alumini for such knowledge.
All the very best! Lmk what you end up deciding.
Bacche pagla gaye hai. Somebody tell them to focus on internship, LinkedIn se kuch nahi hona.
Donβt be in self doubt, donβt take my words personally, it was not targeted at you.
Howβs Arunβs team at Indus? Good work culture? His team?
A good option can be to do LLB from Pgcl... And then use this money for a llm abroad.
