KCO, Mumbai mein Corporate 7 always has vacancies due to the shitty work culture.
CAM Bangalore has already rolled out PPOs for the 2025 batch so keep it as your last priority.
Trilegal, Gurgaon CK's (i.e. Japan desk/M&A) team and the entire Project Finance vertical always have vacancies due to difficult people at the mid-level.
Tri - 19.5 - 16.5 + 3
CAM - 16 - 14.4 + 1.6
Indus - 15.8 - 14.4 +1.4
KCO - 15.6 (Bonus component discretionary but mostly not given)
You are clearly a law student you copied off some comments without reading. Can you not mislead people.
1. Money and Billing - B&F is one of the highest billing practice, high bonuses and eventually high pay at partner levels. ECM sucks on this front as they can barely cover team costs, so any firm practicing this is actually making losses from this practice. Forget bonuses, and the partners make the least, maybe above IP.
2. Inhouse Ops - You dont get any transferability to such positions from ECM. Maybe foreign firms, not companies. B&F on the other hand, surely. The reason is self explanatory.
3. Never ending diligence - This is true for B&F, you work every day 365. The work is continuous. ECM is cyclical, there are months you have no work and many firms fire associates then, after which they overhire when work suddenly increases. This is common practice. B&F me people leave on their own due to continuous mind drowning work.
4. Dynamic - ECM is ANYTHING but dynamic. You work on the same DRHP and backups all your life, at all stages. B&F is highly dynamic though, even though there are templates, as there are negotiations are higher levels done.
Today an ex AZB Partner went to US to start as an associate at a US Law firms San Francisco office. This is not the first time it's happening.

In the past, one PA from AZB, Partner from JSA left for LLM abroad at late 30s and later started as Associates at US firms.
Why does this happen? No judgements or personal comments.
But do people make a shift like this for career advancement or is it solely for personal reasons?
A PA/Partner makes good money even in India when you account for cost of living.
Work Life Balance - My friend at a V10 NY firm tells hours are as horrible as in India minus toxicity and shouting.
A lot of non-CA lawyers who works in taxation practice at such firms are stuck and unsatisfied in their careers due to this situation. Further there is no good tax practice beyond these firms so you already have limited switching options left for you my friend.

To other place, if they really liked you and are nice bunch of people. Explain your situation and they'll understand. While give them a hint you'll eventually join them maybe 1-2 years down the line.
Difference between 60/80 k isn't that much vis-a-vis the bad reputation you'll earn.
1. Volume-Driven, never ending due diligence, sleepless nights almost every day (Jan, Feb, March is a total nightmare due to financial closing).
2. Monotonous and boring after 1 to 3 years
3. Requires copy pasting and smart work without much thinking and analysis as compared to majority of the practice areas
4. Fixed fee billings and clients who want bulky work done for pennies
5. Juniors thrown under the bus until the PA Stage since there is very little document hygiene and direct oversight by the senior members who solely manage negotiation and vetting
Pros:
1. After 3 to 5 years, the practice feels like a game since you end up learning a lot at the junior stage
2. Quite dynamic in terms of service offerings i.e. structured debt, project finance, securitization, term loans, fintech, restructuring, IPOs, QIPs, preferential allotments; et al, thus very steep learning curve.
3. Too much attrition at tier 1s until the A3 stage so more lateral opportunities at big firms
4. Way too many in-house openings at the seniority stage with 25-30% paycut for the sake of sanity
5. Since these practices expect no room for any form of mistakes, you master skills like formatting, math (upto a certain extent), book keeping and develop a financial bend of mind.
So I'm interning at a T3 firm. Something weird happened and I'm not sure what to make of it.
My co-intern just got an internship extension for the next few months, which I thought was pretty rare here. Now I'm wondering - is this a normal thing, or is there more to it?
Someone mentioned that this kid's relative is buddies with one of the partners. Got me thinking - does having contacts really make that much of a difference for internships? Can you just hit up a partner if you know them and score an extension just like that?
I always thought were super strict about this stuff, but now I'm not so sure. Is this kind of thing common and I'm just out of the loop?
I'm keen to understand what skills are typically expected in an IP internship. I'm also wondering about the best ways to develop these skills. Any readings, resources that would be great for someone willing to learn and just starting out to intern and get some practical experience in IP? Would be grateful for any help.
Its simply not about prestige. It s also about which degre gives you more options, money and stability. MBA hands down here. Don’t forget mba is gives you transferable skills which you can use in any geography. JD restricts you to US.
If you go to Harvard for JD and don’t end up willing the H1B lottery. What the hell would you do? Come back to India? How will you pay off the student loans then?
Whereas after MbA you get 3 years OPT, which means 3 chances at H1B. Even thereafter you don’t end up getting H1B, you can always seek transfer within your company to Europe/Canada/Singapore. MBA gives you wings to fly. JD simply doesn’t.
If you have to come back to India, a JD is of no use. Also remember- even in US, after JD, you have to work at a big law firm, which would be more prestigious than Indian Lala firms- but equally brutal hours and mind numbing work. MBA gives you much more options (banking/consulting/corp strategy/ startup/ marketing) etc.
See what makes more sense for internationals. There’s a reason why people from top IITs/AIIMs/ NLUS/ Stephens etc are vying for M7 MBA. And hardly anybody from India would even apply for a Harvard JD. Check the stats.
For international students, LSAC does not assign a numerical GPA. It only gives you a qualitative rating- average, above average etc. your GPA hardly affects your admission consideration.
It is a well known fact that lsat only matters the most for law school admissions for international students. Spend some time on law school admissions Reddit and educate yourself
Harvard would still like your GPA to be rated above average, but any random person from Amity law college in India with 60% or above would be given above average grade.
He’s going to execute for a team that is completely all out at the moment. Doesn’t need to have his own clients
You're still reading a ton of documents for that deal in M&A or regurgitating on disputes side.
Don't mean to dunk on other domains but would like to understand the pessimism towards BnF/Cap marks.
1) For removing UGC NET as a compulsorly eligibility? - If so, they are violating the UGC guidelines!
2) UGC is the Apex Authority of Higher Education in India? - How can a Private University like IIULER can override the "Minimum Eligibility Criterias for the Appointment of Assistant/Associate/Professors in India?
3) If IIULER does so, are you supporting an Institution who violates UGC guidelines and dilute the "basic eligibility " criterions?
4) Do you think that, if UGC NET is not mandatory at IIULER, whether the said Faculties who is being appointed "atleast " get the UGC Scale of Pay?
5) If IIULER is diluting the Appointment procedure by UGC, how can you support that?
6) If IIULER does not have any ethics to dilute Assistant Professorship, what's their Logic behind barring one-year LLM (even UGC NET qualified candidates) from applying to the post?
Make some legal points!
The partner I work for is very respected in the practice area (very niche practice area), so I don't know if I should leave and join the other firm, as it will leave a very bad impression if I leave in a week or two, as many of my seniors told me not to leave on bad terms, and if I leave most likely it will be a hostile exit.
Please help!!!
1) IIULER in their Recruitment Notification mandates that the candidate should meet the "Eligibility Criterias stipulated by UGC" - It means UGC NET is the minimum qualification! From where did you get the information that IIULER does not mandate UGC NET compulsorly?
Apart from Sudhir, which VCs do you think are doing a decent job to help the ship stay afloat ? They may not be as revolutionary as Sudhir but are still doing a good job with their position. Anyone ?
PS: I'm not interested in being employed at T1 firms
I'm also not able to score internships with firms like Indus, Khaitan yet but I have a CV streamlined with other good firms
What does my options look like
Also M7 business school right? Your own Reddit MBA thread (where M7 business alumni also talks unlike LI) claim and admit JD to be of much tougher skin to tone than MBA. It’s just Indians find it hard cause we can’t crack it that easily.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MBA/s/iOWDulOyG1
Check dear fool.
Is this a good alternative? The fees is cheap at about 22k per annum, and it seems to have good ratings.
Should I take admission or instead take a drop? I'm pretty confident I can get into the 3 year courses at better institutes if I take a gap year. Is that worth?
Does anyone know of any teams in tier 1s that are still hiring for 2025 batch??? Even if not through PPOs but through campus placements?? most of the teams I have heard of have already filled up all slots, so im wondering where all the kids sitting for placements are going to go
Jiggles, let’s comment here the issues plauging our university
Team is governed by two people. One ▮▮▮ and ▮▮▮ with ▮▮▮.
Whereas to go to an M7 Businesss school requires a shit more ton of efforts
Office is nice, as are the people.
1. They have behind the scene arrangements with law firms/ individuals who are shamed here. The Trilegal incident etc, among others. This is basic media marketing so whatever.
2. They actively promote companies/ interests using payment subscriptions. You will see certain threads by influencers etc being upvoted.
How hard? How many rounds? How often? Interview? Which batch? Teams open to hiring? Teams closed to hiring?
Also, can someone confirm if Khaitan's HR genuinely goes through the applications before rejecting them? Because I've been feeling bad about myself seeing peers get in (not sure but assuming they might have used their personal contacts to get an internship at Khaitan) while my application was just rejected a day before the date I had requested as the starting date of internship (which made me wonder if it was automated).

I am currently employed in a toxic chamber and making a move to in-house, talks are on final stages and in-house people want to have an ITR-EPFO verification to avoid contacting directly to my employee to verify my employability.
The income is transferred directly to our account without any deductions. the income is below 3LPA.
I don't want to serve the notice period at this toxic place and taking an exit for health reasons. Please give suggestions on how to handle this situation, want to avoid communication from in-house people with my current employer.
Thanks in advance.
Which tier it is??
Chances of ppo there also, pay grade??
