Nirma with the current dean had a downward trajectory in terms of rep and the culture is also a bit suffocating as far as I've heard. HNLU might offer a broader set of options and the NLU tag does help. Even if you're eyeing for a corporate job, HNLU is performing quite decently in the past few years.
Find people on LinkedIn who have made a similar switch and weigh in the pros and cons. Best of luck :)
Getting an NLU in the first place is not a surety with AIR 7000 :(
Alot of deserving kids who are better in their 4th year than some a1s are left jobless because y'all won't even open a cv without a contact telling you to do so.
As far as I am concerned , I have never been anywhere outside of my native T-3 State. I am not aware of any Boutique Firms in any city.
I am also apprehensive If I will succeed or perish. I will have to survive in maybe 20-25K and I am not sure if that is sufficient to live in Metros.
Pls mention a roadmap to succeed in corporate law. I have zero knowledge about company law and the plan. Pls help . Thanks
Pls do give me new perspectives. I have been breaking my head since the scorecard released!!
she ain't a journo, since last I heard a journo should question people in power
If money is a issue then GLC.
However, if you do not lack the funds, JGLS offers some of the best faculty and resources for the students. Off campus access is there for every journal/legal research website you could think of and you can interact with some really qualified faculty via electives (Like Justice U U Lalit, Gautam Bhatia and many more).
If you can make use of these resources, it could be worth the expense. The foreign collaboration office is also very active with multiple opportunities for semester exchanges and pathways.
I got into a T2 NLU and still decided to come here, but pretty much slacked off for most of my degree (COVID was especially difficult) and now, I have given up on finding jobs via the OCS (They were humbled this year after the record high placements last year). Not sure if I regret not choosing the NLU at this point. Guess I'll find out soon enough.
In conclusion, despite the batch strength, you will find some really hardworking and competent people here, and if you can put in the effort, the sky is the limit. However, competition is tough and it is easy to get carried away and lose track of your academics. All the best
Thoughts?
SLSP, GLC and ILS have a cult of alumni which have been doing pretty stellar (if you take out the top NLUs) from the quantum of top-down comparision at law firms, chambers and companies.
If given a choice, choose SLS (Pune) blindly and get in touch with your alumni for internships and job opportunities since they help - I know people shoot emails to the SLSP partners at the tier 1 I am in and trust me they respond and open doors to deserving candidates. If not, both GLC and ILS are great places with solid heritage.
Given the fees, huge batch size and snob kid reputation of Jindal, I don't think its prudent to splurge on a law degree from a developing private university which holds very little weight in the larger scheme of things.
But seriously, were we expecting anything different? Even arch leftist judges like Muralidhar and. Chandu would have upheld the decision. At most they would have taken some potshots as part of their obiter.

Do it, drop HNLU for GNLU, NLUJ, NLUD, NUJS, NALSAR, or NLSIU. Nothing else.
Give 5% (or less) increments and bonus.
Live off the hard work of others.
Problem solved.

Can we discuss few things?
Which explains all the Tanmay relationship.
Also heβs definitely made more money than most lawyers because he was early to Uber and Solana.
The books I should read, the knowledge I should gain and the things I should know in general.
Help a junior out? :)
Separate note for MODS - please remove 'bump' once the thread has received responses as it will be help in readability!
Unless you have all that money to give away and not expect a return.
Consider if you want to be a lawyer ? Enroll in BA courses and attempt coat next year/ do the llb degree later.
It's a win for us.
IT freeze is already there as you may know. TCS has still not issued joining letters to many students they offered placement in 2022 season. Overall, I believe 2023 batch has not got much opportunities to perform in the first place for them to be adjusted as lethargic and incompetent.
Remember the AZB resignation episode or Spice Route Legal retracting offer. It's the law firms and the market who are having leverage over when and how to recruit. Don't round this up on performance of a particular batch. And it's been a long time since we are seeing lateral hiring demand from law firms. The performance of 2023 batch could not have been judged in such a small duration.
And yes, I agree that 2024 and 2025 hiring is/have been affected. But I don't agree that it's because of 2023 batch.
You seem experienced , can u mention a way to transition from litigation to corporate pliz
Let me clarify 10. So, they brief arguing counsel mean that they only engage in HC or SC or Tribunal Matters (SAT NCLT etc). ?
He has a team of three and one intern. They all get along well and he seems to be fair and reasonable with his associates. The girlies here are trying to find out if he's available.
1. We had an unprecedently tough time behind us, not recession, not hire freeze but a freaking pandemic, and we were dead in the middle of the same- 3rd 4th-year students living in a black hole with next to zero direction whatsoever. What is expected from us- take care of our families and life or focus on internships?
2. When things opened back up, we were faced with a barrage of equally complicated things - written exams after almost 2 years, corporate internships, managing the rigorous juggle of attendance and looking for long-term opportunities and beefing - up our profile to be industry ready all of sudden- in a span of just 0.5-1 yr.
2. Colleges, I believe, Have a very big hand in this whole situation. Many shamelessly strew away their students, since they themselves were incompetent to rope - in placements during the pandemic. Most scooted over to the next batch in hopes of nurturing the bad placements records and made us the scapegoat of their own incompetency, totally pathetic .
3. The recruiters too were picky enough to not hire from the graduates and instead hire ppl with experience as they knew training this batch would be a waste of resources
4. Firms took awful advantage of the apathy as well. They knew ppl were desperate to work and hired them on probation/trainee positions for six-eight months, only to chuck them out by saying there were no vacancies.
5. Lastly, we expected some sort of understanding from our fellow seniors or peers who had witnessed this situation firsthand, but alas! No love no empathy eh!
So to sum this all, up , it's safe to say that 2023 will go down as the black swan in history, as rightly said by someone on the original post and how can people be so indifferent what's actually happening before them? We are humans, nod immortals for God sakes, have some pity.
