I am a 2023 Undergrad in English Honours from a local rural college in West Bengal. I am very much interested in law and want to pursue it.
As of now, I turned 21 this December.
I have two options -
1) Prepare for 3 Years of LLB Entrance Exams such as CUET PG, MHCET Law (3Y), and NLSAT for 2024/25 admissions.
2) Prepare for CLAT, AILET, MHCET Law (5Y) for 2025/26 admissions.
I belong to an economically poor family. My family income is less than 1 lac per annum. I belong to the NCL-OBC category.
I have a few queries -
1) So if get into a top college, will I be able to get an Education LOAN of 20-25 lacs for NLUs?
2) Do top NLUs and other top Law Schools give scholarships and financial aid to people who belong to economically and socially backward classes?
3) In the case of 3 Years LLB, I will graduate by 25-26 of age, and in the case of 5 Years LLB, I will graduate by 27-28 years of age. Will these 3-5 years gap as compared to the average age of both the programs affect my career prospects after law school?

2. Scholarships are available in each NLU to some extent. External scholarships like Aditya Birla are also there, though competitive. Different state governments also offer scholarships in some cases.
3. Don't worry about the age difference. Just work hard in those 5 or 3 years, do publications, internships, learn 2-3 subjects that you like really well, participate in competitions, focus on your strengths and compensating for your weaknesses, and you'll do fine once you graduate from law school. There will be plenty of people around you who will come from privileged families, don't get intimidated by them or their spending habits. If you are in the same law school as them, then you have earned your place and aren't any less than them. You do you.
