Complacency by Gen Z? Increased competition from other colleges ? Change in jury and loss of influential backers? A calculated strategy by Rhodes Trust to to give other colleges a chance, after 20 years of domination by NLSIU?
Didn't you ask us to do the same in the beginning of this year?
Because now the Rhodes has turned into a minority appeasement scholarship
And NLS with its thousand-strong cohort is anything other than the majority.
they cant even take a shit in peace with 3 sems so no wonder
Do give a visit to the current bunch of students, it would leave you no doubt as to your question.
Because of affirmative action, to give other law schools a chance.
You are almost close to getting it. First batch of NALSAR graduated in 2003. When did the first batch of NLSIU graduate? When did all the other serious contenders for Rhodes, the NLUs, come up?
Real answer - NLSIU has lost its sheen and exclusivity under Messiah.
Rubbish. The drought is 7 years long, of which Sudhir has presided over only 2 years. The drought started under Venkata Rao. If anything Sudhir will end the drought (unless Rhodes has made up its mind not to give it to NLSIU and GNLU is being mysteriously preferred).
It’s because of the powerful GNLU and NLUD lobbies, with the former having the blessings of Modi as well. If you prevent lobbying and have a level playing field, Law School will surely triumph.
Highly unlikely that NLUD with their first batch 10 years into the legal profession would have a Rhodes lobby. It’s just that they’re better than NLS these days.
Could it be that the best person won?

The best person doesn't need to come from NLS.

Rhodes is an achievement for the individual at the end of the day.
The best person winning wasn’t always true for Rhodes. Many excellent grads from NALSAR, NUJS and NLUJ were overlooked in favour of NLSIU grads in the 2000s. That’s changing now.
There is one girl from NLUJ super-senior batches. Absolutely brilliant and today doing very well abroad. She was denied Rhodes in favour of an NLSIU grad who was nowhere near as good.
It’s basically a gen z problem. Not willing to work hard and free riding on past laurels by gen x and gen z. That’s why they dislike Sudhir. He is cracking the whip and stopping grade inflation.
