Hi! I am currently interning. This internship is one of the only few internships where I was given worked, helped, and mentored. the people are nice and helpful. not that I want to keep up with them to use their "contacts" I genuinely what to keep in touch with them. BUT I am basically non existent on Instagram and also find it weird if I had to follow my associates on Instagram. How would you suggest one can keep in touch with them after internship?
this is giving peak "my LSAT score was 98.9 I came in the top 500 rank of AILET Iβve been a straight A student and topper all my life with a CV that doesnβt have the word participation in it I cleared 30 great college entrances across the country and Jindal gave me a free ride but please go on" vibes
there are two kinds of feminists i have found in law schools, 1. who are loud and all they do is cry about everything wrong with society. 2. the one who have realised that world is unaffair and work towards bettering it. i consider only the 2nd one feminists
MNLU has no actual college placements. actually its so bad that as far as i heard from someone in mnlu that the admin now has a new rule that only top 30 of the batch will get one month deemed attendance for internship (which they get in 4th and 5th year every sem) and only if its a top tier firm, the admin will prolly reconsider it but who knows after all the internal politics
I have an internship coming up in a law firm. How do I make the best out of it. What do they mean by "good work"? Am I supposed to know everything about the field I am going to work in beforehand? Should I underpromise and overdeliver? Should I ask for help or not? How proactive can I get?
I keep hearing how the legal field is a scam and how it sucks. we all know the reasons. I want to know WHY people who stay, stay. What kind of people love this industry? and how do you figure out if you are one of them?
a couple of weeks ago, I had made a discord server filled with features such as
1. an open to all forum without moderation
2. specialized text channels
3. tags
4. voice channels
with link in a previous post's comment and around 30 people joined. I tried to make a separate post to share its invite, but the mods have not approved it. Maybe if enough people comment below that they would like to join it, the mods will allow it.
P.S This server is not related to legallyindia.com in any way possible
This server started after years of frustration that no one made one. One night in one of the forums here people asked for one, I got up pulled my pants up, and made one in a couple of hours. AROUND 30 PEOPLE JOINED!!! People started talking, discussing, and giving advice, and insights!!
The server was raw and not structured. Now after spending half a day on it we have
1. an open to all forum without moderation
2. specialised text channels
3. tags
4. voice channels
I encourage everyone to join this, Only if this server was there years ago all of us would be better off. I request the mods to allow this. (Please for the love of god I am too invested in this lmfao). Im sending this posts again as my last one was not approved, The link to it was already published I just want to bring to light to it again as it better now.
p.s - if anyone wants to be a mod on the server pls dm me. I will need some help.
This year was trying to get a sabbatical year in my T2 NLU, looked at a lot of options. No way out. Is this the same in all NLUs? a sabbatical is common in all western colleges, but here it seems like a career suicide
Hi i freelanced as a kid and also as a teen and then in law school for 6-7 months. made hell of a money, as good as associates. the things is, from what I can see from my experience, I was a motion designer, You cannot for the hell of it balance of these to the max. that is you cannot progress really fast in your freelance journey and also do good in law school. You will have to balance, for example if you want to be in the top 10 of your class, forget more than one client a month, also if your delivery time is longer also forget pay. if you want more clients and more money, forget about marks. its all a balance. best of luck!
Hi, I think a lot of law students like me do not have direct exposure to people working in firms, partners, etc in this industry. Whatever we know about the industry comes from hearsay from our seniors and it varies so much from city to city to firm to firm. During your internships, it is hard to get hold of associates and have a talk about how it is work there. Hence, It is really hard to determine if this is a career path for YOU.
How would you recommend someone in the later half of the law school can reach out/ have exposure to people working in law firms and ACTUALLY understand how the work is, what the career trajectory is, what kind of people like this field.
P.S - I have watched a bunch of podcasts and interviews but I feel its gives a very biased view as everyone on there is there because they are doing good in their career and are clearly made for the field (interest and skill align with the field) that takes away from the whole requirement to talk to more "normal" people in this field to understand it.
Please let me know any ideas you have - reaching out on linkedIN, asking for phone calls from placed alums, etc.
I mean. . . if they do not want to give any info they cant just put N/A or any bullshit instead of an actual number. cant really do anything about it lmao
Hi i made this form, which takes a note of what tier you work in, how many hours you work, your happiness level and how much your make, You get the link to a public sheet in the thank you page of the form. It is not tracked, is public and open to everyone.
the sheet already contains around 40 submissions by associates and partners of all ages. Please add to this so everyone can benefit.
It is rigged in so many ways, its rigged against people who don't read, against people who are not from cities, against people who's first language in not english, when I have my clat in 2020-21 I know a lot of centres where they had 40 more mins to the exam, where some of them were using phone, in comparison to my centre where they gave us 20 less minutes and annoyed us with paperwork during the exam time. It's dumb but that's life /rant
hi, will do. but how is this not anonymous? i cannot see anyone's email, there name, there IP. anything? your email is also not recorded. genuinely confused
I made a google form to answer this question - it records everyone's position, their work hours and how content they are - you will get the link to the open source sheet link after you fill the form. people reading this wanting to help this individual out can fill this and also see what other 30ish associates think of their career
I made a form to track the age old question of whether it is really worth it. you will get the sheet link after you fill this. if you are a law student just put "other" and put "student" in the answers. your emails are not tracked, everyone can see the data.

there is this small firm called SB Partners in Gurgaon, terrible place. the boss is a literal tyrant, weird work. the only associate he had left him shortly after. stay aware boss
MNLU here, please go GNLU. there is no location advantage, our classes end at 5. there is no time to do running internship. 4/5th years can barely do it. the hostel is far from fort. if you wanted to do internship in Mumbai you can get a hostel or place in Bombay and just intern, which would be near also. best of luck champ
hi! I have given around 90ish mocks in my clat prep but still ended up in a tier 2 nlu even after 5x ing my scores in mocks
you need to break down what is needed to do good in clat and why people who barely prepare get nls
clat basically (afaik in my days) used to test mainly your reading comp, your reading speed, your wide vocab and your awareness in general
I belive if you are someone like me (small town, 4/10 education, did not read as a kid) you cannot make up your reading comp, reading speed and vocab in one year. or if you do you will have to mainly focus on practicing speed reading, anki vocab cards (I had like 1-2k). for gk read the hindu columns
remember, people who you are competing w almost always are obsessive readers who have been reading since they were kids, they basically have years of practise above you. do your best. i remember clat prep or something was good, I did cl and even le, and much more. not a lot of diff, at the end you never know what comes in clat. best of luck, I'm rooting for you
have an internship offer from archer and angel, Mumbai office. Any idea about how good the work is, practice areas and general ranking? Thanks in advance
