1. We had an unprecedently tough time behind us, not recession, not hire freeze but a freaking pandemic, and we were dead in the middle of the same- 3rd 4th-year students living in a black hole with next to zero direction whatsoever. What is expected from us- take care of our families and life or focus on internships?
2. When things opened back up, we were faced with a barrage of equally complicated things - written exams after almost 2 years, corporate internships, managing the rigorous juggle of attendance and looking for long-term opportunities and beefing - up our profile to be industry ready all of sudden- in a span of just 0.5-1 yr.
2. Colleges, I believe, Have a very big hand in this whole situation. Many shamelessly strew away their students, since they themselves were incompetent to rope - in placements during the pandemic. Most scooted over to the next batch in hopes of nurturing the bad placements records and made us the scapegoat of their own incompetency, totally pathetic .
3. The recruiters too were picky enough to not hire from the graduates and instead hire ppl with experience as they knew training this batch would be a waste of resources
4. Firms took awful advantage of the apathy as well. They knew ppl were desperate to work and hired them on probation/trainee positions for six-eight months, only to chuck them out by saying there were no vacancies.
5. Lastly, we expected some sort of understanding from our fellow seniors or peers who had witnessed this situation firsthand, but alas! No love no empathy eh!
So to sum this all, up , it's safe to say that 2023 will go down as the black swan in history, as rightly said by someone on the original post and how can people be so indifferent what's actually happening before them? We are humans, nod immortals for God sakes, have some pity.
