LI pointing to the stray dog menace on campuses, they immediately get attacked by the liberal dog-lover faction of students. As Chetan Bhagatβs article notes, a millionaire businessman recently died after being chased by stray dogs and lakhs die from rabies in India. As he says, we canβt become a superpower with so many stray dogs on the streets.

I am a 2023 Undergrad in English Honours from a local rural college in West Bengal.
As of December 2023, I am 21.
I very interested in law and want to pursue t.
I belong to a economically poor family. My family income is less than 1 lac per annum.
So I have few queries regarding law school admissions and law career in general.
I want to prep for law school entrance exams such as CLAT, AILET, NLSAT, CUET PG & UG,HCET Law (3Y & 5 Y) etc for admission into 5 Years of LLB in 2025-26 and for admission into 3 Years in 2024-25.
1) So if I get into a top law school, will I be able to 20-25 lacs of Education LOAN for the entire program without any collateral?
2) Do top NLus and other top law schools give scholarships and financial aid to economically poor students?
3) Regarding the career, for 5 Years Course, I will graduate by 27-28 and for 3 Years Course, I will graduate by 25-26. So will I be facing any problem due to this 3-5 years of seniority as compared the average people graduating in 22-23 age.
Want genuine answers only.
Share your experiences regarding this money (fees) and time (age) issue.
However, there could be a spill over effect in the sense that the mandates of the departing partner maybe handed over to some other partner, who already has a team in place, and because of the added burden on the team, the Partner could choose to hire an A0.
(2) A basic idea of the recent change (in the development) is enough. Further, think the development through in terms of its background, previous position, implications (both positive as well as negative) and concluding remarks (which will be your suggestions centric to the issue at hand).
Its not too difficult once you actually have 2-3 internships in your belt (regardless of it being firms or chambers) since your acumen, writing style and conceptual clarity shall be put to test for the reputed blogs; which is kind of developed during internships. You can start with CBCL, IRCCL or CBFL and then gradually upgrade to IndiaCorp, Taxmann and the likes.
Trust me having polish in your writing makes a huge difference when you go to law firms where none of your glory mooting days will help. Lastly, lot of us GC folks are told to keep abreast with Taxmann and IndiaCorpLaw updates every now and then so yeah - target your pieces accordingly.
Hope this helps. Best of luck!
Is this increment for the period starting from 1 April 23 or 1 April 24? I would assume that itβs from 1 April 24 and hence, being paid out in December.
He has paid 3 months well in advance. Whatβs the grouse?
I am a 2023 Undergrad in English Honours from a local rural college in West Bengal. I am very much interested in law and want to pursue it.
As of now, I turned 21 this December.
I have two options -
1) Prepare for 3 Years of LLB Entrance Exams such as CUET PG, MHCET Law (3Y), and NLSAT for 2024/25 admissions.
2) Prepare for CLAT, AILET, MHCET Law (5Y) for 2025/26 admissions.
I belong to an economically poor family. My family income is less than 1 lac per annum. I belong to the NCL-OBC category.
I have a few queries -
1) So if get into a top college, will I be able to get an Education LOAN of 20-25 lacs for NLUs?
2) Do top NLUs and other top Law Schools give scholarships and financial aid to people who belong to economically and socially backward classes?
3) In the case of 3 Years LLB, I will graduate by 25-26 of age, and in the case of 5 Years LLB, I will graduate by 27-28 years of age. Will these 3-5 years gap as compared to the average age of both the programs affect my career prospects after law school?
Please comment genuine answers only.
Would like to hear from students of NLUs and other top Law Schools who have gotten full-fee loans, scholarships, and financial aid.
Thanks in advance.
Of course, foreign travel too has become very expensive. We are basically paying double compared with pre-COVID prices.
We are seeing something very similar in India. The controversy involving Sameena Dalwai at Jindal was an example of the right sending a warning.

That's not my idea of justice (anymore). In hindsight, it now makes me uncomfortable.
If training under him, keep an open mind.
- Dil ke peeda of a Private University grad.
- Beyond that, crowd is trash - full of snobs; very superficial people.
- Marking system is skewed. You'll see highly incompetent people scoring better GPAs. People (in their 3rd/4th year) who don't even know the basics of law (such as the hierarchy of Indian courts or the stages of a trial or basic constitutional provisions like Article 13) have an 8-8.5 CGPA. Also, you won't believe the extents to which people go to get marks. - Special treatment is given to students whose parents are judges/well-established advocates.
It is what it is ππ
Please do seek professional help if youβre struggling with this mentally. Anonymous LI commenters arenβt really going to help.
So 2 questions:-
(1) How to find topics to write about
(2) How do these people without knowing whole subject publish these blogs
Left a Tier 1 law firm in 2018 to move a litigation chamber. Got paid 20K for the first 6 months which increased to 30K after 6 months. Left after 1.5 years to join another chamber where I got paid 40K which increased to 50K after 1 years. In 2021, joined a senior advocate, got paid 80K for the first 5 months. Thereafter, it was increased to 1.3L and has remained the same since then.
For the past 2-3 months, god has been kind and I have been getting some independent drafting work from which I earn an additional 50K to 1L per month.
The journey has not been easy as have to work hard to deliver results. My bosses have mostly been very good and supportive but I have seen people come and go so not that it was easy to impress bosses without doing good work.
I still have some hesitation in appearing before Courts as have not gotten many opportunities to argue. There is a lot of uncertainty but trying my best to work hard and achieve something. Having supportive parents and partner has helped.
If you want a career in finance, transition. Think about a cfa /mba and transition to finance.

Would you like to anything else to be sent in the mail.
- Earning curve is really good in litigation, even though you start from law. Although not necessary for every litigator but then same is the case with a corp lawyer (especially one not in a tier one). And the efforts you put in are the same.
- Some people don't have very easy access to these firms, and the ones they do have access to pay very little with no growth opportunities.
- Some people would rather work for themselves from the beginning that grinding for a partner.
- Bored.lurker (I forgot my password - sigh)
But from what I know, you need some reference to be hired as a fresher in Adani.
Take whatever I say with a pinch of salt because I am not an insider, have never worked at Adani.
It has often happened to me, in a dozen interviews that I have been asked technical questions and have failed to answer them owing to severe nervousness, getting blanked or simply having not learnt the subject or prepared for it.
Can all of us come and create a repository of interviewers favorite technical questions so that we can all get PPOs, Internships, easily. This has happened to me in corporate law interviews especially when I was in my first two years. In my law school corp law is taught in the fourth year, so for any other person out there who for whatever reason needs some quick interview prep or confidence can come here and atleast be prepared for the most favorite ones.
Even googly questions are welcome, questions which you never expected, we can share anecdotes as well. Let us use this reach of Legally India to help the upcoming batches...and also ourselves. You need not write an answer to those questions, just the questions themselves would do. Or, whatever you prefer. We can write down what questions we were asked in the interview. There is no need to mention your firm, your year, your law school. Just maybe the position you are interning for and the questions asked.
Lets make interview preparation a bit easier and convenient.
If you have kids, that's a different variable.
If you're under 30, don't worry about money. That will come. Apply to a good club, and your 55 year old self will thank your 30 year old self every day.

But it just hurts a lot. I was targeted. It's not a nice feeling. I don't know what was wrong with me (in terms of knowing how/where to change/improve).
They gave me deep self doubt in terms of quality of work. And that's the only work I liked and know!!
I have to change my practice area altogether now to a general M&A from scratch.
Also, hard to accept there will be no justice. They'll mint their money, enjoy a lavish life and amazing parties while I willl struggle for idk how long. Quite a fair chance that I won't make partner because this experience made me genuinely lose interest in the profession.
Additionally, a lot of work comes for Compliance vertical. This is around post acquisition integration work of the companies.
Hope this helps.
Applied and rejected from at least 15+ law firms for internships/A0 positions. I've heard about the hiring freeze and I understand it might be difficult at this time but I really want to start earning. Advice?
In fact the salary at all level is and has been the highest since last many years.
If this isn't growth then I don't know what is.
The only way you can get a higher salary in this system is if the supply is limited or the demand increases by leaps and bounds.
193- Total seats (Vacancy)

Is there scam in selection process, as they don't allow RTI on pre and gujrati language test.
Outside Gujarat student fails the exam by 19.5, 18, 19. Because there is minimum marks qualifying criteria of 20.
