I am a potential joinee and would like to know more about the firm. I have heard that the managing partner works from the US and is not very hands-on. There are other partners but with Prasad Subramanyan's departure, i understand that the team is struggling. Any insights will be helpful.

They struggled before him. He wasn't too experienced anyway. That's why he left. Being in a law firm requires nerves. Not all are capable. Yes, work atmosphere etc isn't too great. Has seen high attrition off late. Rajaram is a short term solution. The MP doesn't have money issue and is happy in personal life. Plug can be pulled anytime. This is more of a hobby. Don't think about a career here. You may see boss going into "philanthropy"

RL usually piggy backs on the other investors. Wouldn’t say a word until the lead investor would also ask for something, and then just say the three magical words “humein bhi chahiye ( we also want parity). People who have worked with RL, observe one thing. Have they ever brought up a point during negotiations which no one else has. I can bet my life, the answer would be no.

Very obviously, most the guys in here don't know much about RL. True, there's been some exits, attrition etc, but which firm doesn't? To tell Prasad was inexperienced is just bollocks - everyone who has worked in the sector would know how much clients appreciate him and his work.

Also, Archana is based out of Germany, and not the US (it's not that difficult to run a firm from there, with it being just 3.5 hours behind India for 9 months in a year). And if she's doing this only as a side-hustle, isn't she doing a really insanely great job to be running a firm, which is easily the top PE/VC firm, outside of the multi-generational firms; and having it achieved it in under 7 years, being a first-gen (woman) lawyer (in a heavily male-dominated PE/VC world). Moreover, if someone's not available for clients, does a shoddy job, why would the client's continue working with the firm, when there are literally a hundred law firms in this sector, and a lot of them (incl. the Big Law), working for astonishingly low hourly rates or fixed fee mandates.

And lastly, RL pays 13.5L to freshers (10.5L + 3L), and at the senior level, it's quite competitive to tier 1s (else why would anyone from tier 1 jump ship? common sense?).

It seems RL is delivering quality work, which is evident from its client roster. However, here's the real conundrum, can a MP effectively work remotely for most of the year, especially in a different jurisdiction? Wouldn't you need your leader on the ground to manage both internal affairs and client relationships effectively? This may be similar to trying to conduct a symphony without being in the same room as the orchestra. Head PS managed it on her behalf for a while but eventually left. That raises another question, Is RL offering sufficient incentives for its partners? I personally would like such firms to flourish however creating institutions is not easy.

it's not a great place to work anymore, quite unprofessional and there's a reason everyone from fresher to partner level left within 1 year. there are no systems in place, and a lot of personal bias and favouritism at play. some people were given very elaborate gifts (off the record).

Putting this here in public interest -

1. They do not pay bonus. The 30-40% bonus component in the offer letter is a sham. Not a single rupee is paid.

2. They do 'hire and fire' - they'll hire at start of the year and then fire for random reasons a day or two before bonus payout. ▮▮▮

3. It's no more remote. Hybrid now, they pushing for everyone to shift to Bangalore and come to office.
