We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Interest has nothing to do with, the ones who look like theyre having a good time are mostly sociopathic nerds who enjoy bullying people and acting fancy doing a bullshit nonsense job.
This is 100% true for corporate law teams, not sure about others.
Reason - kise dijiye ga (to whom it would be of any use)?
If you're currently completing your graduation or about to start it, preparing for entrance exams for a 5-year BA LLB program (from a Tier 1 NLU/JGLS) could be a better option. However, since you mentioned that you're not passionate about law, consider whether spending five years at a Tier 1 NLU/JGLS is the right choice. Landing a Tier 1 job is challenging unless you graduate from these top institutes, requiring extreme dedication and effort. Reflect deeply on whether you are willing to invest so much energy into a subject you are not passionate about. Take time to consider these questions carefully.
For Tier 2 NLUs and SLS/ Jindal there are teams where partners want to pick interns from their college and these teams have dedicated slots for A0 from these colleges.
Other than this if your friend from Christ or SLS Nagpur or Nirma gets a Tier 1 PPO it's almost a reference case (not that they are not smart but as things stand).
Tier 2 PPOs are different Universe and very easy till your final semester.
Pushing back against ill mannered senior colleagues, unreasonable deadlines, arbitrary decision making, etc. is not entitlement.
More power to these kids. Lesser to you, with your talk of "justifying their retainer". In any reasonable scenario, you can't bleed people of all life just so the lala above you can look better in front of the lala above them.

think about it, Modi, despite you not agreeing with him, has done more than anyone else. The rules are ready... so what are you people waiting for?
Best IP firm in Delhi. Pays well.
but, not to say there are 0 corners and circles where things don't make sense. it's a shitshow but in between all this you do get to see a lot of good as well. you also see a lot of people pushed to their limits and still doing good things. i like to look at this world like an experiment; as if someone's trying to study what humans would do if pushed in a dog eat dog world and im always surprised how despite such pressures, there's still space for a little bit of human in there.

But how did they lobby so effectively? It takes a lot of clout to stall an entire FTA with a major world power like the UK! Did they approach Gautam Adani? Or Amit Shah? Or Modi himself?
Isn't 42L the highest declared band at CAM? Wouldn't that mean that the actual pay would be much lower, by about 4-5L?
Not trolling you, I'm genuinely curious to know.
After WC Final 2023, govt is desperate to conduct Olympics in Gujarat.
Hence, must say - sarcasm endeavours on point. Hope Monday feels good now :)

Is it helpful to print such cards and hand them out to people during internships etc?
Some are also poisonous, rumour mongering bunch, with liberal values slapped on to cover the general ugliness of prejudice and poor intentions.
When you point out their bad behaviour you will get denials that would match the best sociopaths.
I couldn’t be more wrong.
You’d think, considering we get the opportunity to work with forward thinking founders, we’d discuss some updates about Startups. Turns out some of my seniors have never watched Shark Tank.
During break, people just talk about normal stuff like where they went to eat, or where their batchmates are currently working. Maybe a passing reference to startups because someone they know works there.
Sure, during work hours, we might discuss about finalising the SPA to send to the investor. But outside work, there is almost no discussion about their business model or the vision the startup founders have.
Is this the same with lawyers in all other PE teams, or am I missing something?
also, may I request mods to throttle other threads on the same issue, this thread is self sustaining
No one really cares about the extra or less 2-3l at the start if the firm eventually evens it out.
How do you as an a0 in m&a or pevc learn other practice areas which you want to practice 10-15 years down the line. Do you switch teams after 1-2 years?
The money which will be eaten.
The national embarrasment.
Why don't we try to actually win medals first?
Once he is an Tier 1/ top college, with the right guidance from college seniors and some hard work on his part, he will be able to manage internships. While the guidance will be easier to get, the competition within the college will be high as every firm allocates certain seats per college.
Other lower ranked colleges, the guidance is lacking and the firms don’t allocate any seats/ don’t hire from college. But you can still apply directly to firms if they don’t come to your college.
Either way, it helps to know people within the legal firms as they can push your CV internally to the HR, although sometimes firms do hire candidates basis CV/ some assessment test. The chances of this are lesser.
It is not the professors job to make your notes. Its your job. infact- thats the job as a student- learn information and organise it.The professor makes their own notes for lecture- theyre under ZERO obligation and its actually bad practice to share ppts, it makes students lazy. Youre only asking this because you want to do well in exams- not because you actually want to learn the law.
2 is completely the opposite of how the socratic method works. I know students like to fancy themselves as judges - because theyre in the audience so they automatically assume theyre consumers. But the way the socratic method works is- you present the facts of the case- you get grilled on what different arguments were- you get asked a series of questions that get you to defend your stance. You are asked to deal with variations on a hypo. The professor is there to guide and ask the right questions. What youre describing is some reality tv audience participation that doesnt engender learning at all. just entertainment.
7. Listening in class is the bare minimum. trying to listen in class is even less. Why do you want some pat on the back for that?
You will accuse me of propaganda- and I will accuse you of the same. Truth is war involves a lot of propaganda and the truth only really becomes clear many years later.
The idea that individual jews anywhere ( these professors arent even israeli) can be protested anywhere for something they have as little control over as you and I? reverse that logic- would you be okay with jews getting into the homes of palestinians and shouting at them about hamas? I would think that would be pretty awful. Its not what we do in civil society. thats just not how any problems are solved or any truth is attained.
You may think people earn the privilege of knowing the truth or being able to speak it by claiming victimhood. I just dont think thats true.
I get it- you have a lot of empathy for palestinians- You think you should be on the arabs side because brown skin, and you think all jews in israel are white oppressors even if a good chunk of israelis arent white. Youre on insta all the time seeing videos of babies being harmed. You have been on a steady social media diet from one side (cause thats what the algorithm does) that makes you think there is no complexity and everything is clear. And you want to think doing something is better than doing nothing so you want to come to this website and talk about how everyone should go harass jews. Youre so convinced youre on the right side that you dont think its even possible that youre wrong. Consider if being so close minded is a quality you aspire to? be introspective for one second and consider that you might not have the oracle that sees through the fog of war- like any of us dont.
Get this right.
A liberal is an RW person, but moderate. He/she will turn RW at the slightest inconvenience. A liberal is RW lite.
A liberal is opposed to the left, get this into your thick skulls my dear RWs of LI. If you are a liberal you're an RW my dear liberals of LI.
RW wants to push the window right. A liberal wants the status quo, no matter how right the window is. Liberal will not shift the window left and will resist citing free market for economy and traditions and for social issues. But will extract minor concessions like the right of women to be in Police/Army/CEO/Leadership positions.
They will celebrate such things as a female with power equivalent to a man oppress and exploit. But they will not give a damn about the oppressed woman.
Left really wants to shift the window left.
Liberals are dishonest wussies. You need not worry about them RWs of India.
Therein lies the flaw of democracy—fundamentally, no human likes dissent against themselves. Freedom of speech is only accepted when your side uses it against your opponents!

Also information about the work environment + pay scale would be highly appreciated!
Can someone guide me how to go about it ? Is teaching at NLU-D as rigorous as I opine it to be ? Do students get taught corporate and tax laws in depth ?
Kindly dispel my doubts and sketch a plan to attain the target
Sangita Jindal is from a Calcutta and member of a prominent business family. Despite JSW's close links with the TMC, especially their much hyped investment in Salboni; Bangalore despite the water woes takes the cake.
Three states were approached for the NLS project, including WB then under the much hyped Jyoti Basu. While he kept thinking, CM Hegde from Bangalore swooped in. Rest is history.
