I have not published yet but would like to. How to chose topic (const law)? What all should I look for
I had zero connections in the field whatsoever (first gen lawyer with no relatives or close people in the field). So honestly it isn't a big deal as people make it seem, and also do understand that getting a job in tier 1 isn't the biggest thing. Yes, the money is great, and being someone from a middle class family, it does look great from the outside; but essentially you're being paid for your time. You'll have to work on weekends, can't make plans with your friends all the time (you'll never know when you're going to get work calls), and there's always a constant stress/anxiety, but at the end of the day, if these are sacrifices you don't mind taking, then it's not a bad career choice.
If you can find an area of law that you actually like doing and get decent at it, then internships and jobs would follow. I wasn't the top of my class or won prestigious moots or wrote top publications, but it worked for me. And if it did work for me, then it can definitely work for anyone.
Cheers :)
Ps- I have upcoming internship there in summers.

Please engage a lawyer, pay their professional fee and you will receive proper legal strategy and advice.
The highest salary (with a higher-end bonus) is still under โน1 cr. In real terms, this would be around โน75 lacs.

I am lawyer with 7 years PQE. Lately, I find the kids who have graduated in the COVID years to be extremely entitled, lazy and sluggish at work. Plus, because they have not interned anywhere, they seem to have no sense of work timings. Most of them cry foul and mental health every time you try getting the bare minimum out of them to justify their retainer. I am expecting a lot of hate from the entitled brats. But, I want people with 5 years + PQE to share their thoughts. Have you noticed anything similar?
Let me be as clear as possible because I think lawyers do not understand the meaning of Taboo. Using nuclear weapons is the highest form of taboo. Maa.. level taboo.
So, the only point at which any nuclear nation will use Nuclear weapons is if they are completely destroyed and their capital too is about to be conquered.
Think of like Germany in April 1945. In that situation if a country reaches where the armies are at Berlin, you don't have any divisions left or any Luftwaffe or airforce or any hope of turning the war around, you will use nuclear weapons. You will and no one will (not even Kim Jon Un), will use it whether they lose Stalingrad or any other huge battle.
So, unless Iran is completely destroyed and Tehran is about to be surrendered with Israeli, US forces on the doorsteps, Iran will not use nuclear weapons. Also, I am not sure if Iran has nuclear weapons.

Aur yeh kya bachho ki tarah har baat pe World War, World War chillate rehte ho? If India and Pak fight, is it world war? Was Vietnam or Korean war World war? World war needs 3 things,
1. Complete and total conversion of economies into war economies.
2. Duration of war for atleast 3-4y.
3. War of anniliation as in complete destruction till one party wins. No rules.
China-USA is the only rivalry which can fight and sustain a war at global levels.

Anyway this is before ICJ, why are you passing judgments and why you expect your judgment to be taken seriously
Infrastructure - no. But, then, that hasnโt stopped narcissistic leaders in their bid to do something big in the past.
Also, it will give Dear Leader a chance to follow in the footsteps on the other guy from a hundred years ago.

1. Who make ppts and share them at the end of the coursework with a caveat - please just dont read from the ppts, rather use them as an outline to not get distracted from the coursework, however engage the students with the same. Nobody likes having classes with no structure, a good presentation helps not only students to refer them during exams, but also keeps the classes concentrated on what the material is.
2. Ask questions to students, make the class engaging - many teachers keep the interaction very limited considering they are the only ones speaking, if there are legal cases for instance, describe the facts to the students and let me figure how the case should have presented.
3. Expect the students to read the material to class - although not one of our best professors, but she strongly insisted on reading material before class, else student would be marked absent. In hindsight, it was helpful because we know what the course work was and had already read it once before the exam time-bomb fell on our heads.
4. Allocate office hours to students - best of our teachers actually give some time for doubts for students, I am a rather shy student, so I prefer to ask my questions separately than in front of the class. Please dont discourage this, many students face confidence issues and just want to get their doubts solved separately.
5. Whenever assignments are made, thoroughly engage with this - like for us Sourabh Bharati and Neha Pathakji, they know every line of your project. So, for the students who dont wanna work, they put extra work in, and for those who do, they get the validation that their hard work and effort matters.
6. Marking in exams - marking hard is not the problem, but rather marking in a way that makes no logical sense is a problem. I would rather have my professors clearly tell me what they expect in exams (and follow suit) rather than leave us guessing as to the best outcome. Ideally, at the end of every exam, there should be an answer key delineated what all should have been covered in the exam and there should be some feedback at the end of the same.
7. Appreciate students who try to listen in class

Its from NLUO. Good enough college for one to get a job and support himself.
I wouldn't want to jeopardize my career because of a crappy senior. If the news is fake, let it be market contested, that's a good enough disclosure for adults.
How did this even got marked as 'contested'? Do @legallyIndia mods really just flag comments just because someone has reported it for whatever reason?
A. Not all students should be forced to undergo this traineeship- only students who opt for and wish to actually obtain a license to practice should be subjected to this. In-turn this will decrease the in-flux and ensure serious candidates come into litigation. Also not a unwarranted burden for a senior as he/ she gets already motivated candidates to mentor.
B. Another consideration for a senior is to pay his/her junior. Here, since the candidate is already motivated and still in law school- a token payment of 5-15k won't bother either side whereas hiring a motivated junior and paying them a stipend over 15k is bit difficult for a senior as of now. Also, if recoveries are faster- Senior is already happier than before.
C. Thirdly and finally, the issue of fake signing. Ideally, these seniors have to be those who have themselves sponsored their offices for the programme considering the aforesaid benefits of obtaining motivated juniors with minimum stipend obligations. I believe a senior paying some money to a junior will certainly not allow the junior to simply not attend the office or works assigned to them and also sign the certificate/ recommendation nonetheless.

I canโt believe I have to show the dictionary definition of feedback to someone who will be a law professor but here goes.
Feedback: noun
1. 1.
information about reactions to a product, a person's performance of a task, etc. which is used as a basis for improvement.
"throughout this process we have obtained valuable feedback"
Similar:
response

report
estimation
assessment
critique
criticism
view
opinion
commentary
observation
interpretation
study
analysis
evaluation
judgement
rating
comeback
note
2. 2.
a screeching or humming sound resulting from the return of a fraction of the output signal from an amplifier, microphone, or other device to the input of the same device.
"Punk Rock Girl opens the disc with plenty of guitar feedback"
Since no one can really give you feedback on your task - cause we havenโt seen you do it. You should consider whatever advice youโre hearing here a screeching and humming sound resulting from the return of a fraction of the output signal from an amplifier.
It's a wonderful place to learn. Possibly the best office to learn criminal trial advocacy in a healthy environment. I've worked in offices which get toxic, this isn't one of them. Mr. Mohan is very polite, never scolds any interns. Same goes for most of his associates.
The main thing is, you have to take initiative if you want work. They get many interns who only want certificates, or only want to attend court to put up Insta stories. If you want any real work to be assigned to you, you'll have to constantly reach out to the associates or Mr. Mohan (if he's free) and ask for work. If you have an appetite for work, it's the best place to be. Some interns have been made to stay back till 10-11PM, which actually means they get some real learning.
On the flip side, if you do not have an appetite to learn, want to be there because it's chill, etc., you may not be able to extract the most out of this opportunity. But that goes for any internship.
Initially, you may only be given very clerical tasks. Put up flags, make sure files are in order, etc. Make sure you do well at that - most advocates use that to test your caliber before giving you any task of actual significance. I've had interns screw up simple tasks such as reading a handwritten note and typing it in word - of course they do not get much work then. Don't do such silly mistakes, don't slack off.
As far as stipend is concerned, the comments are right, most interns do not get stipend. A few interns have, however, got stipends in the past when they have worked well and actually contributed to the office. Nothing much, in 5-10k range (though, let's be fair, you can't get higher than this in litigation).
Keep in mind he used to be a public prosecutor who switched to defence about a decade ago. Even then he continued as SPP for a few cases. Now he does not do any prosecutorial work, however, other than advising police officers sometimes or giving lectures at judicial academy/police academy. So contrary to the other comments here, he's not a prosecutor. Though he's handling some very high profile matters currently - including Kejriwal's (ref: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/delhi-court-reserves-order-on-stay-of-summons-issued-to-arvind-kejriwal-on-eds-complaints/articleshow/108523365.cms), Brij Bhushan's (ref: https://www.indiatoday.in/law/story/brij-bhushan-defense-lawyer-prosecutor-death-sentence-in-nirbhaya-case-2408463-2023-07-18), IMO it's best if you work on the cases which are not as highlighted. Most interns want to get associated with these matters because it sounds fancy - meaning there's less good work to do. OTOH if you work on some file which has fewer people associated with it, you may be able to get more face time/recognition in briefings with Mr. Mohan and may be able to look at the case in much more detail.
Hope this helps.
To add insult to injury, CNN invites this ultra woke African-Amercian academic from Harvard who pretty much justifies what happened by saying that two white people were killed and "that represented something" for the black community.

CAM - on freeze till '25 end.
Otherwise the platform that allows such anonymous freedom of speech, whether legallyindia or reddit will be held accountable
Also remember that reddit after its IPO is a very different creature - it is not a startup backed with legions of VC funding
It has to make a profit, and every legal action eats into that profit. Unless it feels fighting legal action is critical it will just remove the content, ban the user, pass on the information to investigative agencies
Don't be a stupid activist who thinks your actions are above accountability
Remember Riddhi Patel crying while getting arraigned
1) what is the career progression in tax, if any? and how do I go about it?
2) is there a chance of stepping into commercial laws - like a basket of tax, ibc, securities etc?
3) what are the points on my cv I should focus to get there w this?
Iran v Israel (started)
China v Taiwan (coming up)
So then just a few months before World War 3 breaks out?
Now get reach for World War 3 if this escalates...
Youโll find โxโ number of examples of loop sided growth across the world. London, NY, LA, SF, Paris, Rhine valley, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo. Take your pick.
An old illustration - Four river valley civilizations dominated early human settlement. Or, Rome, economically, dominated that Roman Empire.
Contemporarily, London generates more than a fifth of the UK's GDP. California generates almost a sixth of USAโs GDP by itself. It clubbed with Texas and NY, they combined to almost a third. Within California and Texas you have vast low productivity areas. Northern Cal, anything beyond Berkeley basically, is a vast nothing. And that is almost a four hour plus drive at 100+ kโs an hour to Oregon.
