1) Placements- Both the college will ensure that if you want to get a corporate job, you will get one by the end of 5 years. Now strictly in the sense of Day Zero placements NALSAR is better. However in the recent years NLU Delhi has done better than other colleges with respect to foreign vacation schemes. NLU Delhi is a better place to be if you want to opt for litigation, judiciary it civils simply because of the location. If you're aim is a corporate job I'd say you'll have better chances of landing one at NALSAR. However here again you should make the choice keeping in mind +5 years from now when you'll graduate.
2. Faculty & Reaserch- I don't really know a lot about NALSAR faculty so won't get into that. However will give you an insight with NLU Delhi faculty. With Prof Ranbir Singh at the helm the faculty is above average- good at NLU Delhi. There are a few faculty members who are exceptional and are pretty well known. Even the faculty who is average is primarily due to the its inability to hold the attention of the class. However I'd say still pretty smart people though. Certainly NLU Delhi has really good faculty. I'm sure NALSAR wouldn't be lot different.
NLU Delhi has a many reaserch centers on campus. Some of them like the Death Penalty Project or the CCG does good work.
3) Adminstration and infrastructure: NLU Delhi is good infrastructure wise. The library is pretty good, further the hostel rooms have ACs in NLU Delhi. The campus here is rather small and compact. NALSAR on the other hand has a huge campus and from what I know it's very beautiful as well. The adminstration at NLU Delhi though can be a bit rigid at times, it always tends to comes around. The college does get a lot of funding and spends it properly on the college. Infrastructure wise I believe both colleges are pretty decent. Don't know about NALSAR adminstration.
4) Student life- It's certainly better at NALSAR. NALSAR has a pretty good student life and there are lot of events that do happen there. There's a lot of academic pressure here at NLU Delhi and infact in your first semester itself you'll have classes at odd hours (read 9pm class). That's only the first semester though. Basically you'll be lot more happier at NALSAR. The academic pressure might be the same at both the colleges however there are ways to escape in NALSAR. Though Delhi is a pretty cool place to be and you can always go out on the weekends.NALSAR is far away from the city so you're mostly on campus.
5) Perception- Student perecption plays a huge part in the college ranking. Every year a good number of leave NALSAR for NLUD. Though this number obviously had been in favour of NALSAR. Last year in my batch there was a sharp increase in the number of students who came to NLU Delhi. However also a lot of them were from around Delhi. The student perception according to me is starting to tilt towards NLU Delhi.
6) Extracurricular and Miscellaneous- Both colleges have decent extracurricular culture. NALSAR has more options however with lesser number of students you're likely to get a moot or a debate easily. NLU Delhi funds all it's moots and ADR competitions. Don't know about funding at NALSAR.
It's certainly difficult call to take but I'd say currently(2023) NLUD is still marginally better. However if you're from AP or region around choose Nalsar. A couple of students l Talk to someone from NALSAR as well.
- I represent business houses based from abroad and from India
- The work they do is quite prestigious, but requires permission and clearances from various government officers.
- This is where some govt officers demands bribes.
- The foreign companies cannot pay bribes because they will get into trouble in their home country. The Indian companies pay up and do it in a way that no paper trail is established.
- Some examples of people my clients have bribed:
A) A lower-level police officer (non-IPS) bought 2 luxury flats abroad
B) An officer from a minor UPSC service bought a 2 crore BMW for his sonโs 18th birthday. The officer himself is from a village background and is from the OBC community. Today a millionaire. His son later went abroad to study.
C) A mid-level bank officer got his sonโs fees abroad paid in full (for both undergrad and postgrad).
As for more senior officers like IAS and IPS, well, you can just about imagine how much they have made and their demands.
SLS also has a strong alumni base, especially in firms like AZB and Khaitan, and GCs in many companies, VC firms, and startups.
Last year, SLS successfully placed approximately 150 students, and the placement prospects are only improving. However, you need to be within the top 30% of the batch to get the best jobs.
The college has also seen success in the international market recently. One student from the 2022 batch secured a TC at Linklaters, and two more students from the 2024 batch have secured TCs from both Linklaters and Baker McKenzie. Two students from 2023 batch were placed in boutique firms in Europe.
Itโs known for doing well at International moots and debates as well. Also consider that the campus in located in uptown Pune- a privilege many NLUs donโt have. Many NLUs are located in outskirts of boring cities. Last year, the college was ranked 3rd by NIRF. Many think SLS to be undeserving of this rank, they clearly donโt know how well the college has done recently. SLS is the underdog but there is no reason why a private college canโt outrank a state run college if it does better in metrics.
Unless you have the top 3-4 NLUs, choose SLS eyes closed.
2. No, NALSAR offers MUCH more placements and better opportunities. Ask any HR of a lawfirm, who their preference is during shortlisting. Ask L&L- they will tell you- NLS/NALSAR/NUJS, ask SAM/ CAM/ Trilegal/ Saraf/ S&R/ Khaitan /ANY tier 2 firm. LOl just ask LKS, who have really rigid hierarchies. NLUD is clubbed with the other 4-5 below.
Also nobody gives a crap about lingual representation in an educational institution except that one NALSAR professor who can talk for a month about that, its only being able to score in exams and corporate drudgery. Nobody cares for a "national" law university, least of all the Founders of NLUs and the government/s.
how many non-english speakers are in Cambridge, Harvard? Would hardly be shortlisted (Know people who went to court for this)
2. DJS and UPSC have NOTHING to do with the college. NLUD is not "offering" students UPSC and DJS, there are two exams and an interview for EVERY candidate regardless of ANYTHING. Yes it gives you a degree to qualify you for the exam itself, but so does NALSAR and so does DU. Look at GLC and DU grads in the UPSC and DJS results and you will understand.
3. Research opps is not a constraint, as from NALSAR, there are numerous students working as RAs in NLUD Centres. It honestly even does not matter as research in law or any subject in India is a Joke. You wouldve to go to Upenn or OXbridge for that. (Foreign exchange given to many by NALSAR, but wont use as rebuttal as you haven't mentioned this.)
4. Location honestly does not matter at all. Look at NLU Mumbai and the location. Is it helping the students? Delhi has the supreme court, thats it. Tell me how much can a student accomplish on Fridays in the Supreme court when Misc Matters are listed? If you wanna watch the proceedings, they are live telecasted on the SC Website. The High court of Telangana is also close to NALSAR.
- You would only get to work here during vacations, and there location does not matter as half the NALSAR Batch anyway is in mumbai or delhi then. To give an example, GLC clearly has an advantage due to loose attendence requirements, so the location definately helps students intern longer and acquire PPOs- Still lesser than NALSAR and more than NLUD lol.
3A- NLUD fees- The fees is now over 3.2 Lakh rupees an year, which makes it highly unaffordable to payback in loans. Yes the 70-80k difference * 5 definately matters.
4. NALSAR has anything but stagnated lol, kuch bhi generalize mat karo. The present batches are achieving laurels on all levels, moots, publications, TCs, PPOs. Dont hear much about NLUD. Ironically, NLUD's VC came to NALSAR and is now weakening structures and the culture here, making it like NLUD.
Get your facts right- My batch has atleast 25 students who were the Toppers in AILET.
Learned from a recent thread that Kco will be paying 15.6 to their A0s 'across all offices'?
But rรฉsolut partners is the worst !!! I applied for July the interview was so long but it went well at the end they asked me if I was available for another date they I said yep august can do .
I received a mail of saying I did not get it , I was curious as to why did I blow up 2 interview even when I did well in the second one ? It crushed my soul !
They give you the interview but guys donโt expect much stay neutral and donโt get your heart broken .
I'm currently interning here (started may15, 2023). would be really helpful if you could tell, thank you!
Infrastructure-decent
Faculty- okayish
Placements- rate was extremely low but the batch of 2023 witnessed amazing hirings. Whether this is because SLSP had made progress which attracted great firms or whether it is simply because it was a mass hiring year is something we will discover only when we see the placement rate for the upcoming batches.
Yes, you'll get ample time to study for CLAT in SLSP. Its not too hectic.
Firstly, HNLU witnessed a mini outbreak of viral infections in the middle of September. The college authorities pushed the nearing mid semester exams by a week. However, the graduating batch rallied support from unnerving juniors to demand further postponement of exams even after the outbreak has dusted.
Secondly, the graduating batch put relentless pressure on the SBA to pursue an elongated campus in-timing till 3 AM. The administration agreed on 12 AM. However, they kept burning bridges and staged self serving protests inviting and pressurising junior batches to support their cause. The demand for extended timings was

Biggest Failure no ground level work.
CS is a professional qualification.
Comparison should be fair enough.
Which kind of combination is this?
That too MSc???
Hard working people are insulted day in day out.
Work is sub standard and pay is below industry standards.
As for UPSC and judiciary aspirants, NLU Delhi is hands down the best pick because they too can start going to their coaching classes physically post-class in 4th and 5th year. The best coaching institutes are situated in Delhi itself.
NUJS
NLUD
And the second thing is tell that Seniors in nls also students are placed in the foreign law firm who earn 2 or 3 times more than the Indian law firm associate but it doesn't mean that when u are working for foreign law firm u are earning more than the Indian associate in purchasing power parity more or less both are earning the same amount of money
One last thing in symbiosis there is no foreign placement like the tier 1 nlus the senior whom u talking about he might get the job in Qatar because of his approach and hard work not coz of the college
Also a piece of advice to nalsar folks and noojies - you both are great under our shadow. Today if nlsiu is targeted by tier-2 and tier-3 folks , tomorrow yโall will be for some pathetic reasons. Instead of turning against us , acknowledge your ranks and solidify the tier-1. Try to be like us. Thank you. I guess no one should be offended after hearing the truth
0 analytical skills and they dont know math.
You should speak to the senior lawyers mentioned in the above post, or with any lawyer who is currently working with Tatva Chennai, to get an accurate picture, before you form a view based on the above malicious post.
Tatva Chennai disputes team is headed by a very senior person.
I am told that they take a lot of steps to provide a professional work culture and that their pay is based on competence and not seniority. However, you should check these yourself.
Drop for a t1 nlu- do drop but make sure you keep your academics a priority at SLS. Have seen people doing it but also they kept a good balance and ditched parties. You have to be meditative to balance out both. But itโs not impossible
Hostels- not that good for the money you will pay.
Faculty- this is a plus. Better than GLC
Placements - lukewarm
It was removed from the aditya birla scholarship earlier this year which was odd.
A decent place with the best campus life, on par with GNLU but behind the tier 1 schools.
1. Top 8
2.JGLS(with suitable financial aid aka scholarship)
3.Symbiosis
4. Remaining tier-2 and Tier-3 colleges
The way the law works is you simply have to be hardworking and patient. The harder you work the better youโll do. Some above average smartness will help you - but Iโve seen too many โ smart peopleโ crash and burn in law school cause they tried to faff their way through.
Thing is - nlus do teach their students to work quite hard . Compared to other private universities etc. itโs kinda like strength training - that stuff builds capabilities for the future.
These are genuine experiences of people, you can't invalidate them at the behest of the firm.
It's always a good idea to start from scratch. And it's not that difficult once you do it a few times.
I'm in the same boat. Am already employed, but there may be a time in future where I may have to change cities and get into academia.
Who increased it to 240.
Let's see if they even manage to give jobs to those 240 kis in 2027/28.
No one needs to get butt hurt.
I am a litigator in NCR with a T2 firm and already have an LLM. I wish to pursue a PhD just in case I wish to switch to a teaching job later in my hometown. Due to family obligations, I cannot terminate my retainership and pursue PhD full-time.
Would anyone know any good universities (preferably with reasonable fees) where I can pursue PhD without any attendance requirements?
He claims he earns triple the money that associates earn after graduating from nls. He lives in Qatar and hence doesn't even have to pay taxes.
Is Symbiosis actually good?
Ps: I promise I am not studying in symbiosis but I have been admitted provisionally.
Did you receive any guidance?
How is Tata for in-house
1. Manchester United - OFC NLSIU (the red background even corroborates that) and yes the classiest team of all. Jessup plus Rhodes scholars.
2.Liverpool - Nalsar(classy team plus the second best). Brave and unorthodox style of playing (administration)
3. Arsenal - Nujs (chota packet great dhamaka- the team is strategic about scoring goals , the college is strategic about scoring amazing placements). Dramatic improvement.
4. Chelsea - NLU Jodhpur (unpredictable , performs remarkably well under good administration, overall has a consistent record in the A tier)
5. Man City - NLU Delhi - the most funded nlu and has amazing MOUs. Has a league of its own (Ailet). Relatively new but fantastic
6. NLIU Bhopal - Aston Villa , slowly losing its sheen yet commendable performance
7. JGLS - well I wonโt assign a EPL team here rather I think they should go forward with PSG. Tremendous amount of money put into administration and faculty , but the student outcome could be wayyyy better.
8. GNLU - Tottenham spurs , thoroughly underrated , yet sometimes devastatingly bad. Largely depends on players (batch)
9. MNLU Mumbai - Definitely Everton. Tremendous potential but definitely fails in execution. They have to end the cycle of finishing 4-5th (here 6-7th) and have to take charge instead of remaining in denial.
10. HNLU Raipur - Fulham
Next up will be teams all across the world. Show this post immense love and kindly donโt abuse me. Amongst all other threads at LI , this may come as a breath of fresh air.
Like what's holding it back?
It's placements are great if not the best, it's the only one which releases yearly placements reports, does well in moot competitions, and its students clear UPSC/judicial exams too not to forget ivy league schools.
Why do much hate for the place
Bummed out.
I want to know why can't people see nujs becoming better than NALSAR and NLUD/NLS.
Else y u so salty
I just wanted feedback regarding it's campus, infrastructure, faculty and placements. Is it worth studying sls pune?
Also is it possible to study there and still get time to maybe drop for a t1 nlu?
An off-site is not to show the world that the firm exists, but to show the associates that it exists for them and because of them.
Sour grapes, huh? Looks like you weren't invited....
I visited their campus once and did prarthana at their Inhouse Temple, one of my friends friend from Dnlu jabalpur helped in temple construction there. https://twitter.com/Animesh_Jha94/status/1555167934472810496?t=PcmNEqRTMe09H18EKjX_gg&s=19
God bless them.
Even Tier 3 NLU's and Private Colleges doesn't have such a stupid system. It's boring, dull and uncomfortable.
Andhra - Telugu, Maharashtra - Marati & Hindi etc
"more than 7 lakh candidates sit for the exam. And try to score 700 plus in gmat na?"
Point 1. Format of these exams
GMAT does not have limited seats. DJS does. So does any other judicial service exam as well as UPSC.
In GMAT, I'm not competing with other applicants or trying to out-rank others, I'm only trying to get a great score for myself. Unlike that, DJS, from the time of the notification has limited seats as notified each year i.e a candidate is competing with every single candidate to get a seat. The number of seats notified by the High Court of Delhi range from as low as 40 to as high as 120. In some years, DJS is not even conducted, GMAT is conducted five times in a year.
In DJS (like UPSC), you don't just want a good score, you also want to out-rank others. GMAT does not work like that.
Have you ever seen someone talk about their 'rank' after their GMAT result? No, because they are only concerned with their individual marks and not where they stand vis-a-vis others.
Point 2. Your inaccurate and untruthful statistics
Moving further, on how many people take GMAT. You have said 'more than 7 lakhs'. Let's fact check. Please read the following excerpt from Financial Times article dated May 9, 2022:
"According to data from the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), which owns and administers the GMAT, in the testing year (TY) 2017, as many as 250,761 MBA aspirants across the world took the GMAT, but in TY18 it dropped to 242,714, and further to 225,621 in
TY19, 173,176 in TY20 and 156,453 in TY21.
In the US, which has the maximum number of people taking the GMAT historically, the number of people taking the GMAT has dropped by over 50% from 79,746 in TY17 to just 38,509 in TY21.
In China, the number of GMAT test takers has reduced from 68,906 in TY17 to 39,739 in TY21.
In India, the country which has the third largest GMAT exam takers, the number of aspirants dropped from 32,514 in TY17 to 32,425 in TY18 to 30,590 in TY19 and 26,129 in TY20, before increasing marginally to 27,445 in TY21."
TL;DR - In 2021, worldwide 1.5 lakh applicants took GMAT. In India, in the same year, apprx 28k applicants took GMAT.
Even if the number has gone up since 2021, your "7 lakh" number is absolutely untruthful, and an irresponsible statement.
Let us also not forget that GMAT applicants come from all fields (business, commerce, law, humanities, engineering, etc.) and GMAT is used to apply to hundreds of colleges, whereas DJS is an exam open only to law grads and thus the pool of people are also quite different.
Therefore, the comparison of DJS with GMAT makes no sense, and even if done as per your logic, your numbers are made up and a complete lie.
"But donโt worry , even then you will not crack it. You know why? Because our judiciary doesnโt want folks like you who love to spread hatred just because their mediocrity is exposed."
Personal attacks, much? Thanks for your good wishes and I hope you aren't this bitter in real life.
Lastly, you are the one comparing exams of different fields, and disrespecting and dissing on an exam for judges in our country, and at the same time also saying "our judiciary doesn't want folks like you who love to spread hatred". Are you talking about yourself?
"at least I have proven that I know this better than you." Decided yourself? Judge in your own cause?
If somebody wants to become a judge in Delhi, if they are an aspirant for DJS, why are you so attacked by it and why do you feel the need to bring DJS down using made up numbers?
If somebody wants to do an MBA, they'll take GMAT (fair), and if somebody want to join judicial service, they'll take DJS (or any other judicial exam -- also fair), but how are you making this about which exam is better? Each exam is better for the person who wants to pursue that field. How are you comparing MBAs with judiciary? If I want to become a judge, should I instead take GMAT just to prove that I have cleared GMAT? What's going on...
although the concept of common law marriage is dead in India, partition of asset (post demise of one of the partners) and guardianship of wards can be arranged with a bit of forward-thinking.
Also, in WB, this sort of 'marriages' do happen, even in the mid 90s this did not phase many in Kol. I grew up in that period in Kol, and one of our neighbours were a lesbian couple who were raising a kid. They behaved like a normal couple with fights and everything, no one in the very typical middle to lower middle class neighbourhood cared.
Comming to today Batch of 23 of NLU Nagpur has received two confirmed trilegal PPOs though we ain't doing that great in terms of campus placement but one was placed in intl MNC through campus placement and few more PPOs in tier 2-3 firms. Added to this our batch of 22 had secured LLM in reputed foreign uni in space law.
That's it we are humble for our great start despite being surrounded by heavyweight HNLU AND NLIU nearby our competition ain't with Mumbai in reality but these two uni.
