We need to calculate the opportunity cost as well. He's a 2020 NLS grad and by the time he passes out of IIM-A, he would have been an SA/PA at a T1 law firm. So, does it make sense, monetarily, to go for an MBA?
Thnks
NALSAR and NUJS grads think that they would be second or third if it weren't for salary figures but they seem to have conveniently forgotten how NLUD was ranking ahead of them since 2018 when salary figures were not seemingly inflated. Point being, you guys want to people to stop taking NIRF seriously, then don't comment on it. But you can't help yourself and you clothe your trolling as some call for fairness and transparency. The fact that all the top 4 NLUs have tweeted and bragged about their NIRF ranks is evidence enough that NIRF matters and that NLUD is easily part of the tier-1 list (if not ahead due to the fact that it's the only actual "national" university situated in the country's capital in that list) regardless of your jealousy towards its rise.
A. - NLU
I don't like having it all the time. I feel suffocated in the process.
Let me give you a reality check - NLUD has ranked above NUJS and NALSAR even in the past when its placement data was accurate. Back then you guys had some other lame arguments to claim that NLUD doesn't deserve second place. Maybe focus on overcoming your insecurities before slandering other law schools. Also, you cannot prove by your limited knowledge of quant, that NUJS submitted correct data for all parameters. A place like NUJS getting a higher score in research (even though the impact of their publications is much less) clearly shows that you're conveniently picking data to bash another college and unverifiably claim that all their data is false.
And SKD was NLUD VC when NLUD’s salary figures seemed inflated, no doubt he did some other fudging to get NALSAR back to third. It’s just that you guys can’t verify anything but want to have an opinion about a college you can’t get admission into. Grow up.

Over time, because of intermixing, it became possible for higher castes to be dark skinned, and lower castes to be fair skinned. However, even today, higher castes or overwhelmingly fairer than lower castes. This leads to a lot of prejudice in India for both men and women in society, as well as marriage and jobs. Fair skin is considered a sign of prestige.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2003/10/7/black-is-blemish-in-india
Thus, just as the US has a policy of affirmative action for blacks, isn't it time India had a reservation system based on skin colour? In fact, the number of Dalit beneficiaries could actually improve and they could take seats that otherwise go to fairer skinned middle castes like Jats.
Thanks.
I graduated with science from school this year. PCB, to be precise. Prepared to get into med school. Partly because it seemed like the only option that was well-to-do and associated with prestige, given the notion of "BSc gRadUatEs are PoOr".
I was in the middle of 11th grade when I realised that STEM subjects are not my cup of tea. Also, realising that I took up science just because I liked the sound of it wasn't helping matters. Long story short, I couldn't crack the NEET.
About my abilities, I do seem to have a knack for debating and I absolutely LOVE reading. So much so that I would much rather read random stuff on Wikipedia than watch TV (which probably doesn't quite give the picture, but nvm)
I've started preparing for the CLAT, my prep having commenced from the first of June this year. Mock scores are okayish, for someone who has had no prep till now. I think I'll be able to improve, but I'm having second thoughts about it lately. I've always had an overthinking problem, and I'm pretty sure I have anxiety (even though my Mum suggests otherwise). I don't know if I'll be able to put up with law school, given the notions of it being toxic, etc. But I thoroughly enjoy studying law. I know studying law and practicing law are very different from one another, but if I assume I'm able to do away with my overthinking and anxiety, will it be a wise choice?
Please help. Hoping to get a response
▮▮▮ ▮▮▮ is a ▮▮▮
In my year, it wasn't alphabetical either - in fact I have no idea how they organized it
The VC or at least the ex VC has been more concerned with her own reputation rather than anything to do with improving the college, and she has largely taken a back step for many years now. Which combined with the fact that the NLUJ act gives her a lot of power means that nothing much gets done
Now lets look at the dean, the dean is a man well into his late 80s early 90s, who would have no issues watching the college go down the drain, because his view for nluj is to simply treat it as a local college where there are absolutely no standards to be maintained
2. Is it true that headhunters usually expect an amount equivalent to the salary of one month of the position they get you hired at? Would the rule be same for a fresher?
3. Is a headhunter simply a person who the candidate pays so that they can make the process of getting hired easier for the candidate? Paid contact of sorts or is it more complicated?
This is a question asked this year.
70 percent of the "corporate lawyers" in this thread wont be able to solve it without any help.
I hope the admin allows this thread to show how this profile is problematic.
Would appreciate any honest insights and views with respect to the above.
Thank you.

Planning to move to a bigger team - received offers to join a core labour and employment law team. Many people have suggested that it’s a good and evolving area of practice with less competition and therefore should be considered. But this would mean leaving corporate M&A completely. Please advise!
What is the pay dcale for an A0 there?
Remember that.

1. The Happy-Go-Lucky type(includes both the nerdy and jock type):- They are usually very grateful that they have made into a Tier-1. They don’t like to offend their batchmates. They usually like to ride the wave of conventionality and prefer to keep it safe. If they make a controversial statement they will probably justify it with thousands of soft words later on (especially in WhatsApp groups).
2. The DeALeR/HIGH type:- Don’t get me wrong , these people have a good heart. They won’t harm you and in-fact will help you until and unless you speak against their holy highness. They are very famous at some NLUs because the reputation they have earned with their holy knowledge of remaining high even during exams is mesmerising to say the least.
3. The Romantic Raj-Simran type/Keep it Casual :- These are the two types/kinds of crowd that are growing at a tremendous rate. They have been at it and they enjoy the company. Their usual ‘hangout’ spots are cafés , libraries (why library😭) and some incredibly secret spots where even CIA will think twice to discover. Some become the ideal couple while some remain casual for the rest of their lives. Some get the ‘awwwww’ reaction from their batchmates and some don’t because they are just unlikeable.
4. The Left-Out types who shouldn’t be secluded- these people think that they are not smart enough. That’s why they form a group which gets unnoticed throughout the five years. Normally they usually remain happy inside their group but no one knows about because no one talks to them.
5. That Internship guy- Oh boy , these people even intern in their dreams. No moots or Publications and no studying at all. Where is X? Oh he went to intern between classes. He will probably return with a flying jet to attend the next labour law class for sure.
6. That Smartest and the most hardworking Topper:- Well these people are like batman. They will do everything and will ace them. But no one knows about what they eat , where they sleep (my best guess is library) and whats the mantra behind their success. They are very secretive. If you even catch a sight of them , they are probably hustling. They are very hardworking but occasionally mean-minded. They are class apart from the rest five groups. You won’t find them on campus
7. The committee or the Fest type:- literally every Fest or committee you name it - they are there.
These are some types . Feel free to add. The remaining crowd is the usual nerd/jock type who somehow manoeuver their way through.
Inhouse companies - Infosys, PNB, Karur vyssya bank, Quess Corp ltd.
Litigation - difficult to list out with specific names. Suffice to say that there are several of them who have joined leading senior counsels/chambers in Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and other tier 2/3 cities. Some of them have even branched out and started counsel practice.
Academia - LLM from Cambridge , LSE, QMUL, Leiden, NYU (indicative list.). Domestic LLM include several passouts from NLS, TISS, APU, NLU jodhpur. Many have joined teaching positions (Jgls, TNNLU, NLIU etc).
Recently an alum who finished her LLM from NYU have joined world bank.
So ya. Graduates have done well for themselves.
Ok let me take the initiative to give you a fair and indicative list of what the graduates are upto
Law firms - AZB, CAM, SAM, Trilegal, Khaitan, Chandiok & Mahajan, Dha Associates, Tatva Legal, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, HSB partners,
I was watching the news just now and they have these so-called experts claiming that the government needs to enact stricter laws on gender violence etc etc. Congress politicians are also saying the same and blaming the BJP. But don't we have enough laws? Isn't the solution here a societal one? Shouldn't neighbours be caring and take action if they see a girl with bruises? Shouldn't girls be counselled from college days itself to be careful about dating creepy older guys?
It is very very difficult to fail in LLB exam.
It's good that you've decided your path but these all are competative + age fixed exams so, reling on one & ignoring other opp. is not an identity of smart law candiate. Every year a lot of law graduates appear for all exams which they are eligible even though they've decided their path. So i can also suggest you to appear for other exams too as competitions are high now.
Regarding pay/promotion/merit/demerit etc is a layer part of discussion.
Don’t answer. Reflect all on your own.
I was going through the faculty list for the last three years, in 2021 and 2022, they have rightly put Prof. Galanter's age as 89 and 90, however this year, it suddenly went down to 77. I wonder what was going on through the mind of the person who was submitting the data for this year '91 seems too high, let us put it down to 77, seems like a nice number.' Apart from the audacity it takes to submit false data to government what also strikes me as criminally culpable is that NLUD might be piggybacking on the scopus publications of some of the 'visiting/contractual' people.
It is pretty straightforward.
"Even with an average it will not be possible to get to 19lpa
last year NLUD had 25 tier 1 recruitment at 16lpa, 4 TCs were given at £45k (for first year)
if we assume the rest at 10lpa, then the average comes to 15 lakhs
the only way the average will be 19lpa if there were a dozen TCs or if 50 students got 16lpa tier 1 recruitment, both of which did not happen."
NLUD seems to have claimed that the median is 19lpa on NIRF
In fact, CNLU has improved a lot.
For Batch 2023 we have placed 25+ people out of 30 who sat for Campus Placement. The highest package was 18LPA (ICICI Bank) and 2nd Highest was 13LPA (Spice Route Legal). We also placed students at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan and other boutique and tier 2-3 firms where avg. the package was (4-5LPA). For the 2024 batch, we have placed 2 students so far with ICICI Bank. So if you are considering CNLU for placements you can surely vouch for it.
Apart from placements, we have a strong Mooting, Debating, and Sports culture here. Last Year students won moots both national and international, also the CNLU team went to NLIU Bhopal for representing the university in a sports fest.
Students are here willing to work and help out their juniors.
So yes, you should go for CNLU.
1. If No married accomodations is available then officers can keep their family at any selected place of India & claim HRA, or
2. A separate family accn is made in peace stations so If they get posted in war or desputed areas than can shift their family here.
So except second condition why any civil officer (include JO) given two accn. No logic in it. As married & unmarried not matter in civil services but it matters in Military job.
While regarding IAF jets are only provided in disputed areas and no where. But if normally provided & 8 free ticket & 4 for depandents, than it must be available on Govt of India website can you provide relevant link for same??? As far I know that LTC facilities are same for all employees even NDA grades in NER & JK regions you can check the Govt. of India's pdf notifications on LTC here (first one)

Regarding ADJ in 8 yr, Where written???? Rulebook provide 10yr (5 yr in junior grade 5 yr in senior grade). It is written 10yr min crietria after that anytime promoted subject to vacancies. Same apply for JAG. My neighbour son join BJS at the age of 33 in 2007, he & most of his batchmates promoted to ADJ grade in 2019-20 while left batchmates (last rankers) got into ADJ grade this year. In UP & MP almost 2008-09 grades are in ADJs. Even delay in promotion they will get next grade salary according to ACP so why to worry??
Rest compring promotion with state pcs first let you know that it is highly complex than PCS(J) as Senior civil judge promotion done by respective HCs but for other pcs to AIS grde no such easy criteria is there as it require respective state approval, than upsc than cabinet than prez means very complex.
The sooner nirf gets rid of the perception score the better it will be and it will also increase the legitimacy of these rankings.

Where and how will you guys rank it in terms of prestige and money? Help a kid (who wants to pursue non-law) career out. Thank you.
Ideal scenario would be to join a trial lawyer to get an essence of how things work in Delhi trial courts. After a while, move on to a non-senior advocate working on the appellate side (HC/SC) or HC Original Side (or both). Important part is that their office should be involved in filings.
You are right, you won't have a lot to learn at the offices of most designated seniors. All you end up doing is flagging the files and making a compilation of cases (and maybe a List of Dates). Drafting, briefing, strategising is all done by the briefing counsel. There are exceptions, but very few.
Joining a filing counsel who regularly engages seniors appears to be the best case scenario for you then.
phpBB without requiring an account (allowing public posting) is the way to go.
Talking about ties, then no law school will ever lose placements, law firms used to go to GLC and ILS a lot, now they hardly hire from there (except PPOs) NLIU used to have a very good placement record, now it's in shambles. A similar thing will happen to the lower NLUs in the coming years
Anyway, it’s almost certain that the US Supreme Court will strike down affirmative action, so great news ahead.
For info, NLUD did not submit fake data. Don’t even get me started on the lies said by you people.
- individual excellence and merit (first preference in room selection those who top entrance exams, also reduce their hostel fees by 50% as a reward)
-individual economic choice (have the option where one can pay more for a single room else live in a shared room or dorm for less)
- individual social choice (allow people to choose who to share a room with and who not to share a room with: if I am an English-speaking metro city kid who likes Metallica, reads Ayn Rand, supports Modi and hates wokeism, and I want to share a room with another person who ticks those boxes, then allow me that choice and please spare me your lectures about caste and privilege)
