Thanks for your inputs. Frankly speaking, I'm not that sure about DU law faculty. The only reason I'm ditching it is because I have seniors there who aren't very happy about the academic environment. On top of that DU isn't necessarily known for corp placements so I'm less inclined to chose it over NLS. Thoughts?
What if there's a dropper who used to pursue enginnering but suddenly switched to law, will they have a even lower or difficult time getting the scholarship?
Also considering how we haven't even started law school yet, isn't it naive for literal 1st years to have answers to all these questions that you mentioned. Or is securing the scholarship a game of play pretend? The more pretentious you are, the higher your chances of getting it.
If you get a seat in either of the two, go ahead and don't get tempted by NLU tag which is anyway useless unless it is top 5-6 older institutes.
The only true tier 1s are NLUD and nls.
Thanks for your inputs. Really appreciate your help. Are you saying this from personal experience? I understand that at present 3 year LLB programs have a hard time securing corp jobs, but don't you feel things might be slightly different when it comes to the 3 year LLB program at NLS?
Prior to this, I worked with a few startup law firms in the area of dispute resolution.
Do I have any chance of going to Big Law?

And having its own entrance was necessary since most students select the CLAT preferences based on the order/year of establishment. When I took the CLAT, there were many folks who preferred NLIU over NUJS and that was visible even in the merit and allotment lists. NLUD persists with AILET because there is a valid presumption that some uninformed aspirants who tend to seriously choose their law school only after getting a rank, will initially mark preferences based on year of establishment as it appears on the CLAT website, and then NLUD, would be 12th or something since it was formed even after NUALS. This is obviously unfair considering NLUD is way better than nearly all older NLUs.
And I highly doubt that if NLUD joined CLAT, many people would prefer NLIU/NLUJ over it and that this is what scares the admin. Not that the latter two are any worse, but that simply isn't a major concern. Most people who have a choice between NLUD and the other two choose NLUD. Check the AILET allotment for the previous years with names, if you're so keen. And even this year, some 3 folks in the top 100 ranks preferred NLUJ over NLS, does that destroy the image of NLS? I think since NLUD has the ambition to eventually overtake even NLS, they want to avoid a clash of preferences with NLS and NALSAR, and AILET helps to maintain that image. Also, for someone who might have an off-day in CLAT and can't land a top 3/4, an AILET rank could ensure s/he atleast has a good law school to choose from rather than being forced to settle for a tier-2 NLU.
I also don't agree with this whole idea of greed. It's a public institution that pays based on UGC scales and in the past was well-funded by the Delhi government. Holding an entrance exam across the country in various cities, setting a high-standard question paper and ensuring proper invigilation, etc, all costs a lot of money. And for students that do get into NLUD, the admin provides fee waivers based on need, funds all the travel expenses for international/national competitions and the research centres even pay interns. Hell, there's even spilt A/Cs in all the hostel rooms.
Even if NLUD does join the CLAT in the future, I don't think it will suffer much in terms of quality of students, and ideally will be a 2nd or 3rd preference for most.
Don't even ask about senior advocates, their revenues outnumber big business
Is that simple enough for you to understand? You are sounding like a commissar who regurgitated the virtues of socialism and how we all need fixed employment, fixed hours and fixed salaries.
Better to stick to NLUD. Having the opportunity to stay at home is a privilege over 5 years, trust me. And if NLUD manages to build the new hostels before you graduate, you might just get your own room eventually.
I say NLUD over NUJS generally because of one simple reason: Mamata Banerjee. In stark contrast with her predecessors (both extremely erudite and one a London-educated barrister who invited Madhava Menon to set up NUJS in the first place) Mamata is an โฎโฎโฎ who runs a government of rogues that have politicised โฎโฎโฎ educational institutions across the state. NUJS has also been a victim. You can contrast the governing bodies of NUJS during Left rule (when the countryโs top legal and academic luminaries were a part of it) versus now (when it is dominated by mediocre party leaders and politicians).
I dare anyone to counter me on this.

If SAM and CAM make revenues of around 1000 crores and most of the equity is owned by the
Shroffs as mentioned in the court filings of Shardul Vs Cyril Shroff wouldnโt they each be making close to 300 crores
Damm god, utha le re deva ye halat hai law field ka.
Forget about pension & other discussion first can you provide the gross salary detail of Lt. & Civil Judge belong to level 10 grade only??
Could anyone provide a list of tier 2 nlus as I wanted to choose among them in vacancies
Men are โฎโฎโฎ.
How should I go about it. What's the process
GPA is used as a preliminary cut off for campus placements. Girls work hard, mug up and get good grades while boys slack off in law school. In some NLU's in Top 10 batch ranks - there are less than 2 to 3 boys. So when GPA is used as a Preliminary screening it's impossible to hire guys. There are no men to hire when GPA is used as a criterion. Replacing GPA as a criteria is hard. A girl getting a GPA of 9 = a Boy getting 8. But this cannot be done as it's discrimination.
This hiring difference doesn't make much difference in the long run because mugging up and getting marks doesn't mean girls hired will last forever in the law firm setting. While men who slacked may end up in Tier 1 firms as they jump (lateral) from Litigation Chambers or T2/T3 law firms to Tier 1 firms, and may even become partners. Men can afford to waste years lateral'ing' as they don't face social pressures. While women quit in more numbers over the years because of the same pressures.

My cousin, who is currently in the 11th grade, is preparing for CLAT. During a school foreign universities fair, she recently came across some information about pursuing law in the UK. Could someone please guide me to a website or a LI thread where I can find resources to research how to pursue an LLB in the UK? I would be immensely grateful. Additionally, I would like to know if it is worth pursuing studies there and what opportunities she can expect after graduation.
Thank you.
So if their lateral process is anything similar, then in all likelihood, you're hired.
However, because of their size and structural bureaucracy, they sometimes tend to take long amounts of time in communicating their results. I'm aware of people who were informed by the partners regarding a PPO recommendation immediately and only received a formal communication from the HR more than six months later.
If you're aware that the partner likes you, then my advice would be to keep following up with the partner rather than the overworked/incompetent HR.

Also, what ethos? Working 6-7 days for long hours is so normalised that you see no issue with it. It's 2023 ffs. Capitalism has really warped some of y'all's brains.
I have regret not choosing it.

Out of the top 10 NITs, maybe 3 are from south.
I personally feel that the order should be from higher courts to lower courts. Because the lower is the tougher. Higher courts are all about appeals, The case is actually made in lower courts.
Will be glad to know other's POV.

I guess you are too young to remember that 12-13 years ago (before CLAT) all NLUs (which were operational then) had their own entrance exam and all of them were thriving. Then a concerted effort by students and a couple of NGOs led to the creation of CLAT after a court order.
NLUD was being created around this time and Ranveer Singh was the first VC. He calculated that it would be helpful to have a different exam as NLUD was unknown at the time and it would have ranked no. 8 or 9 in the preference list of the students if it was to be part of CLAT (as we have seen the initial ranks get ossified and rarely changes massively). Also, AILET gave a nice boost to income for the uni, he also publicly declared at the time that all NLUs had profited from their own entrance exam in the formative years to build a corpus and that chance should not be taken away from NLUD.
Shamnad Basheer decided that NLUD should be make party to the order and he was pursuing it around 2012, but other events took place and this was never pursued, and AILET survived.
Even last year when NLUD participated in the CLAT meeting as an observer there was a consensus that they might join in 2023 but it seems that talks failed recently and Bajpai decided to forge it alone. Two things happened 1) FM was ejected from the CLAT scene, 2) In Bajpai, NLUD has found someone who has excellent network to resist the pressures from CLAT consortium
So, it is more due to a series of coincidences and the continued greed of NLUD admin that AILET has survived, rather than any other factors. Although we may also argue that there is a continued fear amongst the NLUD stakeholders that the CLAT aspirants may put it after NLIU/NLUJ and that would be disastrous for the image cultivated by NLUD.
who will only claim when proof is demanded
You should ideally aim for the 35-45 age category, who will not be found here, rather meet them in office/ functions/ ask your friends for someone they know/ maybe ask some sensible relative/ look at some guys from your parents' choice prolly.
On a lighter note, Also, even younger guys do crave for older women so.....if you find them attractive give the Under 30s a chance I guess, you will find many.....
It's 10-12LPA if you are from a top NLU
Else it's around 6LPA
This case is similar to this situation:
U board a bus and then someone steals your wallet. U go to the consumer fora asking for compensation from the owner of the bus.
I support this judgement otherwise this could have acted as a precedent and the owner of any kind of public transport, auto rickshaw, busses, taxis etc could have been asked to pay compensation for any kind of theft or losses that occur.
I met an ex-JAG whose daughter was appearing for upcj mains (son failed in prelims). The candidate said that her father motivated them to go for state judicial service rather than for JAG while also met 3 nalsar alumnus.
Don't go for 3 year LLB if u r looking for Corp jobs. It's gonna be extremely difficult to get Corp jobs without contacts even if it's from NLS.
Here, at NLS, u will recieve quality education which will help u Crack govt exams or go into research/academia etc
However , once you get this scholarship , your CV will definitely take a boost and well the fees will substantially reduce. All the best!
PS: I have no interest in working for law firms and wants Saturdays off (need for work-life balance and also time for preparation of some competitive exams). If any law chambers may provide Saturdays to be off, kindly mention that also.
