My interest lies in TMT but so far I've not been successful to get a job in a corporate law firm.
I got an offer to work for 15k in a litigation based office. Should I take that job or keep interning in Corporate Law firms until I find a job?
Also sir, just writing a small phrase following up on a professional matter is not creepy. Also dont worry, real creeps are also not accounted for. I know a girl at a tier 1 firm who got wierd texts after her internship from the PA who had given her one work I think. She blocked them and reported to HR. Inspite of her good work, the PA (mentor) never filled out the form (which must be filled irrespective of quality of work), which means she didnt even receive her stipend. The HR didnt do anything and she is now troubled.
So dont worry, even if you overtext there are no consequences of being labelled. Hell, it's her who will be labelled a needy bitch.
just feed all the case laws in your database to the GPT 3.5 or 4 model (westlaw has already started something like this)
should ideally not be as expensive, considering the orders of magnitude improvement in user experience and time savings we will get.
If organisations don't do smth like this, you risk becoming the new PSUs and getting replaced by foreign databases, don't be shocked
Bhagwan se toh daro Gen Z.
1. Keep a check on your cholesterol and BP levels. Particularly cholesterol. That's a killer.
2. We're mostly in high stress jobs. Figure out a way to keep the BP in check.
3. Quitting tobacco and alcohol is easier said than done. Try doing it anyway.
4. Try to get some cardio done from time to time. Even if it's a brisk walk around the block.
Check SSRN, Academia and Research Gate. Many authors put up 'pre-print' versions of their articles.
You should also check whether your law school/ firm/ company has access to HeinOnline, JSTOR or other journal article aggregators.
Whenever I am assigned some work by the SA, the PA also assigns me some research work claiming it to be urgent, due to which the SAs work gets delayed. As an intern I want to be in the good books of both of them, what shall I do? Is it common in law firms? Any suggestions to tackle this issue would be helpful.
So rn I am in a dilemma of where to so, can y'all pls tell me about the pros and cons of all these three colleges and help me choose which way to go,here are my reservations regarding each of them :-
1. 1) NLS - 300 batch size,so kinda quality diluted, Placement weren't good for even 70-80 batch size(year 2023) and also they haven't released their placement stats for quite a long time, also trimester system means more academic rigor and stress and they have also increased their fee a lot which is fine if it justifies the cost but I also got a lot of friends in NLS so maybe that may help.
2. 2) NALSAR :- NALSAR is far away from city and also got no pool access nearby ( would love to continue swimming for my college time and not quit it cuz)
3. 3) NUJS :- NUJS from what I have heard got quite some toxicity and inter politics is also high lvl
So kindly help me out of this dilemma, thanks :)
Imo this personal connections path is as bad as familial connections and not because it involves sex but because such people are undermining merit.
The job encompasses a wide variety of tasks like market research, social media, strategy, law firm relationships (if you're in a T1 and have Partners with connections to a lot of international law firms), submissions (a big part of PD/BD), league tables (also a big part of the job), analysis and recommendations for events, for participation, sponsoring, and/or speaking, etc.
While this position isn't necessarily for lawyers, a lot of individuals with law degrees opt to pursue this career path. One may also be eligible to work in PD/BD in law firms if they're well versed in marketing, possibly hold an MBA, and have relevant experience at Big 4 consultancy companies.
Personally, I have a degree in marketing, an LL.B and an LL.M, and I work in this vertical (ironically started out at Bharucha. Barf.). You can follow a bunch of people on LI to get a better idea of this side of legal services.
Heard they were the highest paying. Can anyone familiar comment?
PDG is not at all related to core legal work, but related to the business development and strategising for profitability of the Firm. It's an entirely different vertical and runs parallelly with the practice carried out by the fee earners of the Firm.
Stop dissing on jobs you have not taken time to understand before opening your foodhole and having a case of verbal diarrhoea, love.
you can also apply for legal analyst positions. they are remote and they hire alot these days. good luck.
I have far less experience than you but I started out as a sole practitioner so have some perspective to share.
I was once speaking with another sole practitioner with a small team (much elder to me). He said he lost out on companies as a client because his firm size was small. He said that companies find it easier to process appointment when the firm is bigger.
I don't think this is true in all cases. If your rapport is good, maybe size does not matter. But this may be true when you are trying to establish relationship with a company.
There can't be a general principle. As in-house counsel, it is the trust that matters and track record rather than team size. But unless you get hired, how do you establish a track record? It is a round circuit. But that's why being a sole practitioner is hard.
1. Difference between Lease deed and Leave & license agreement (TPA and Indian Easement Act). Part performance and sale deed (Sec53A TPA- Read Suraj Lamps judgement)
2. Stamp duty requirements on agreement.
3. Basic terms and conditions like indemnity, representation and warranties, limitation of liability clause, dispute resolution clause (Read Perkins judgement; Sec 19, 20 Cpc- Read Harshad Chiman lal Modi judgement on this).
4. Try to explain concept on indemnity from both the perspective of service provider and service recipient. For eg: As a service provider you should not include indemnity clause since there will always be possibility of loss(es) etc caused from your end. And as a service recipient you should always fight for indemnity to protect yourself from any such event of loss/damage.
5. Also, read about the company (Must);
6. Try to explain your reasons of interning with a company. For eg: In my interview, I explained that as a law student corporate and commercial law used to interest me a lot, however, I want to work with a company to understand how laws play out in real world scenario and what all types of protection a company needs to undertake to comply with all such laws.
I hope zada nhi puchngey, kindly update regarding your interview. Thoda zada bataya hai taki agey k liye bhi concept clear hojye.
(P.S.- 5+ In house experince, Presently DM_legal (Contracts & Dispute resolution) Mentioning to provide weight to my comment.
Law schools have traditionally been the den of humanities students. Moving forward, law schools/departments must proactively create bridges with STEM departments and have law students with science and tech backgrounds. BA-LLB is an outdated program.
Liberals are closer to conservatives than left.

As a young lawyer or law student, you would think that a carefully drafted LinkedIn mail or message may land you your job, but that can/can not be true. Depends partner to partner.
Further, Now I get messages from law students to help them. I had one girl from my alma matter reach out to me for internship/assessment guidance, I told her that i didn't have slots in my firm, but explained how she can do it; giving her lists of friends who are hiring, how to draft cover letters etc. She asked when she could speak to me, and I gave her Sunday evening. She never called.
So now I will look at LinkedIn messages with a lot of suspicion now.
Is it something that can be specialized into completely?
How is the work in the various T1/T2 firms? Thank you.

last option is if deadline paas na ho of the reason you're wanting to read the article, drop a mail to the author lol. they'll mostly share it with you for free. i did this for some economics paper written by a bangladeshi prof. worked.
i like documentaries more than shows and movies.
Even Nalsar, Nujs, nliu and nlu jodhpur could be ahead of nlu Delhi if we look at alumni and student achievements.
Such a thread of no use.
Videshi - Moving (Kdrama) - as a Heroes (old show) fan loved it !!!
Just a no to Jindal, with 1k students per batch, any opportunities are going to be hard to come by.
If any of you or in your friend circle have gone through the IDIA traineeship then please share your experience.
Thanks in advance.
Don't troll. Only genuine answers pls.
But the STEM focus is interesting and an obvious counter to the culture war, at a time the Harvard President is facing calls for resignation and the Penn President has resigned. Even Jindal has announced it will expand into STEM, following the Palestine controversy

I have some good internships lined up but I need advice from people who've been in this position before on how to approach things. Especially since some of my batchmates claim that T1 firms where I'm due to intern don't hire from final year students. Is banking on these internships a good idea right now? If these internships don't pan out the way I want them to, how should I plan my next steps? Feeling a lil lost and any guidance is appreciated.
There's another point: work satisfaction. A lot of us like what we do, money aside, and just wouldn't get the same level of satisfaction/thrill in a law firm.
