I'm not sure what grass people smoke on legally india. I've seen corporate lawyers around me who work and are happy. I've seen friends who have it much worse. Don't just spill any BS guys - talk to people from MBA finance or even engineers who are into services. Corporate jobs are supposed to be boring. Nobody likes their jobs, that's a very accepted notion. For payments - T1 law jobs are probably and very likely the better paying jobs across the spectrum. Sure there will be some engineers or MBAs who do marginally better but in number terms not too far ahead. Not to mention a lot of engineers earn sub par too. I feel like this website must have verification for people who post bullshit so that it can be known which year are the most stupid comments from - first year or second year. Because nobody after third year talks shit like this.

I interned with their Competition Team.

It was the best internship experience I ever had. However, they don't hire freshers apparently. They recently hired in May 2024 so chances are slim.

If you're in 3rd year, go for competition. If not, go for banking and finance. Their b&f practice is spoken for.

It is really heartening to see GNLU do so well this year in terms of placement. I wish this is just the start of a great chapter in the book of these students and the institution. Always nice to see an institution live up to its potential. I've had several GNLU students intern under me at my workplace and those are some sharp young kids, as good as anyone else and better than most others.

Firms also know NLS kids have better options so they are careful as to pick who will stick. Check records, NLS corp rats also leave the T1 Lala jobs for outside India options. Hard to digest but any NlS grad is barely out of option. Your summit is T1 jobs, for us it’s lot lot above

it's nothing complicated, just a 75:25 division of marks, with 75 marks being the final exam and 25 being the internal score. you'll figure these things out once you join, just reach out to your immediate seniors for any help you need once college starts. my batch had a 60:40 system (40 internal marks), so professors had a lot of influence over the overall ranks, so they would give good marks to people with attendance only. it should be better for y'all because the internal marks have been reduced to 25.

As an additional information, I am particularly surprised by the fee that NLU-D deems appropriate to charge from Ph.D. candidates which amounts to 1,25,000 INR for Full-Time and even more so for Part-Time and Foreign Nationals. This does not even include residence in hostel due to what NLU-D calls “non-availability of seats”. Quite odd for a relatively young university like NLU-D to run out of space so soon, that too for accommodating only 19 Ph.D. students.

I have seen a detailed BnF post on what the practice entails, basic fundamentals etc., can anyone who is an experienced person in this area try to make a similar post or if not so detailed just:-

1. provide a gist of practice overall

2. who as a fresher can someone enter it, (without no prior exp)

3. can touch on future growth options

youre still in a better position than allot of people since you actually have a job, i would suggest keep applying to other chambers, it takes a long time for anyone to get a decent job and hundreds of applications so keep persistently applying, publish articles and get additional certifications if you can. Studying for government jobs is not a bad idea either.

Who says there is no ragging at NLSIU? During Mohan Gopal’s time, two people(X and Y) were involved in a notorious ragging incident. Literally every alum knows about it but will keep an omertà about it.

At best they might have had some correlation in the anecdotal examples that you referred to, since you couldn't have possibly conducted any study in this regard.

Hire a finance professional las yohr advisor who will sort out your financial needs basis your goals. Also fyi, you are not going to make anywhere close to 1.5 crore pa by the time you are 30 (assuming you are joining as an A0). In 7 years time, you'll be a PA/ SA level person (if you manage to survive for that long, which itself is a big if as most A0s quit within 2 years)- such people don't make more than 50 lakhs pa (in today's money, not adjusting for inflation). Law firms salary increases also don't keep pace with inflation, so that would be an additional consideration.

Pros: Great location, library shared with NLUD, lovely campus, beneficial internship policy (no classes in X sem), massive annual fest, good mixed student body, small but steady alumni network, air conditioned classes

Cons: No placement drive, indifferent admin and faculty, outdated library, not the brightest students in the country unlike an NLU, lack of market recognition
