No. I barely had anything going for me. I graduated with a BA in political science, got caught up in the vicious competitive exams cycle. Age limit. Realise I will soon be 30 with no job, no work experience. I had only two options MBA or LLB. I was so broken down that I didn't think I'd crack CAT. So went for LLB. Didn't intern under anyone till my last year, as I had a fear of rejection. Somehow got the courage to join a chamber. Worked my ass off for one month, the advocate saw that, appreciated it and asked if I want to work in his chambers. I didn't have anything going for me. So I joined. The pay was barely 10K, even that depended on how work was in chambers. Still managed somehow. Finally after 3 years, got my experience certificate and all the knowledge I had and applied in a tier 2. Worked there for 2 years. So 3+2 years of experience and entered a tier 1. Finally got through. In the end ageism definitely exists especially in India which is bound by the social construct of time. However, it's just one or two questions about you age. Be honest with them and they'll move on to other questions. In the end experience matters. My colleagues were fresh out of college and to be honest were very immature and unwise to handle life and profession together..more so that majority of them had never practiced in a court. So I had that advantage. The benefit of today is that people are looking for skills and not degrees. If you can upskill and get experience. You're good to go. Also, I would always tell myself this...don't see the 30 years you've wasted, work today for the 30 that still await ! All the best !

I am 26. This year I got placed at SAM. It felt like they didn't even know I'm 26 but of course it's in their records.

I interned there for a month and got a PPO.

Age is just a number. I respect your courage and dedication. I'd also say any firm who's little minded to give a damn about your age isn't worth joining anyways so this way you'd discover that.
