We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.

1. For Harvard you can pursue the exchange but only for a semester. There is no particular eligibility criteria per se(ofc you have to be in your 4th year to say the least). The batch toppers are usually preferred(1-3). You have to take a special faculty letter for the course you want your credits transferred for that semester. Itโs very selective and sometimes lol even no one is selected. Usually only one person ends up going. Itโs that selective.
2. Now for other universities like SOAS , UVirginia , LSE and Dartmouth you can transfer for an entire year. The university will pay 20% of that equivalent tuition fee if you are selected. And the rest depends upon you. This can start from the 4th year as well. I for instance spent an entire semester at UCL.
These examples donโt make an exam easy or tough. These are just examples based on individualโs prep. And I am not even considering the bad luck to begin with.
2. Please prove any falsehood in the stats released by NUJS placement. I dare you. NLUD's lies have been exposed time and again.
3. As for the BSc LLB course, keep passing judgment on it, which is typical knee jerk reaction and hatred from NLUD trolls about a course that's even to start. But your AILET is actually a swindle activity every year. And even reduced placement scene at NUJS is far better than NLUD placement, which everyone in the industry knows including NLUD trolls.
If you are referring to any other MoU, give us the details here. There will be some notice, some internal announcement, some email sent around on the basis of which you are making this claim. Otherwise, this is a lie.
2. As for faculty research and publications, feel free to go ahead and check the SCOPUS publications and citations of NUJS faculty, some of which are better than faculty from any other NLU at present. You don't have to rely on NIRF data for that.
3. Criticising NIRF does not mean claiming everything is wrong with them. The biggest drawbacks of NIRF are that they don't verify data submitted by the universities and have a opaque and arbitrary perception score. The publication data is actually collected by them independently and one of the better verified metrics, though not foolproof.
You donโt know that method that NLUD uses to calculate its median so and your alleged proof of that is also an outdated and different document. So, you havenโt proved shit.
Moderator should make any comment from you as โunverifiedโ and โtrollishโ.
Do you have a private email or something?
As someone who is really confused, clearing a few doubts would be wonderful.
Its a shitty life but you get good support and looked favourably upon by faculties and admin. So yeah has its pros and cons.
Can you assist me in obtaining referrals or provide information about hiring opportunities?
Upcoming A0.
1. Rhodes scholarships/Ivy llm
2. UPSC
3. TCs (magic circle/biglaw)
4. MBA(with full ride usually from T-15 or holy grail in India)
Some toppers who do end up getting a ppo leave the job within 1-2 years.
Can anyone explain?
The hierarchy of respect is as follows:
1. TC
2. Pursuing a LLM Abroad (Only with a scholarship). However, it's worth noting that getting through without a scholarship is not a big deal since many students manage to do so.
3. Pre-Placement Offers (PPO)
4. Day Zero placements (in Tier 1 or 1.5 firms)
5. Placements after Day Zero
6. Working as an in-house counsel
It's important to note that people who choose to pursue litigation are often considered the Dark Horses. The level of respect given to you would depend entirely on your performance. If you're a good student or have an impressive mooting record, your decision to pursue litigation would be respected.
I don't know about other states Judicial Academy's but if anyone knows or have similar experiences do share.
P.S.: I am a female & A1 at known T2 firm. It was my sister from 30th BJS batch with whom I went (ex-A1, T1 firm)
As for being upper caste, no they are not because they get reservation as OBCs. My cousin is a Jat and she got an OBC certificate (she had a very privileged upbringing, but that's another story).
Most of the kids who are cribbing here have either left in a year or monthโs time or are preparing to leave.
These kids donโt even know the basic of law and treat the place as if they are in a 9-5 job. Passion, seriousness and responsibility is lacking in majority of the Associates but few.
Even if they use the brand of VA and enter into Biggies, they will soon be exposed. Those who lack basic ABCD of law and canโt work on one transaction properly, and canโt handle things such as scolding/venting out by seniors professionally- they are expecting to make switch to places where theyโll be expected to work on complex cross border high stake transactions- all the best!
While every one has right to make their own decision of switching or not, without prejudice to it- it is highly unethical to come to an anonymous platform and vent out your frustration. If you have any problem talk to the management, if they donโt listen you are free to switch. Why all these unnecessary defaming and gossips like kids.
Like every law firm, VA also has some flaws. Not everyone is a Demi-god, there are some flaws with everyone. But why do you take things personally, at the end itโs a work place and people there are not your family- just go there, work and come back. Keep it professional. Deal with these issues at your level for it is omnipresent and inevitable, instead of coming here and venting like kids. If any one scolds you for no good reason, god has given you a tongue too.
Be practical.
โฎโฎโฎ if you're really at NALSAR/NUJS, you'll be well aware of multiple folks dropping those places for NLUD. Both of them have a domicile quota where students with much lower ranks enter. And NUJS even has a large-chunk of NRI-sponsored seats for backdoor entries for folks with much lower CLAT ranks.
On a serious note, GNLU/HNLU rank folks are no less competent. NLUD has done better regardless of the CLAT rank which shows that the institution is what makes the difference. Keep trolling, it doesn't matter whether our salary figures are 19 lacs or 1.9 lacs, we'll still be better than your law school.
So I am currently in nuals kochi which i have freezed. I could get odisha in vacancy but wanted an advice about whether there is a substantial difference between the two considering which i would apply for vacant seats or whether they are roughly at the same position
2. Mumbai Police is shown as protecting Dawood but I think they protect Rajan as well considering how "Rajan" or a voice claiming to be Rajan always pins every crime on his own head instead of Dawood or any third party.
3. Highly possible but not sure
unlike NLUD which has been lying to NIRF (well documented) year after year
guess for imaginary number you dont need any maths skills, which is what most students of NLUD have
watch some youtube videos on basic numeracy skills instead of your usual diet
https://www.nirfindia.org/nirfpdfcdn/2023/pdf/Law/IR-L-U-0111.pdf look at third table from top on page 1, look at row 1
median salary on NIRF docu is 18 lakhs, NLUD internal memo https://nludelhi.ac.in/download/nirf/Placement.pdf it is 12 lakhs
on the official documents the number of students who went for higher ed is 26, in the internal memo https://nludelhi.ac.in/download/nirf/HigherStudies.pdf it is 8
FYI here are some Stephanians from these schools:
- Doon: Prannoy Roy, Amitav Ghosh, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Karan Thapar, Ram Guha, Rahul Gandhi
- St Columba's: Rahul Gandhi as well, AM Singhvi
- La Martiniere Kolkata: Swapan Dasgupta,
- St Xavier's Kolkata: Kaushik Basu, Shashi Tharoor
Now, barring Swapan Dasgupta, can you guess the connection??? ๐๐๐๐ And even then, Swapan Dasgupta is embraced by the Lutyens elite because of his posh accent.
Now read what Shekhar Gupta has to say about this. ...

landed a t1 NLU, possibly with absolutely minimal preparation and not having attempted maths. mind you i didn't attempt one whole section. still made it.
can only say it is still an easy exam. its not rocket science to crack. haven't had a privileged family background or world class education either. decent govt schools that strived to be english medium. you all commenting how the new pattern is hard are hardly beyond 29, 28 and 27 batches. grow up.
Moderator should have some sense to mark this as "trollish" and preferably not even publish this kind of garbage.

The internship and PPO process lacks consideration for how important the first job is in any person's life and how empathatic the process should be towards all the hardwork and ambition of so many years from a candidate. I think the entry of foreign law firms in India is really needed for these firms to have any pressure to meet the best standards of professionalism.
And within the Brahmanical order of things (if you buy that, I know Jats don't), Jats are not considered an upper caste in that the Brahmins don't consider them to be either Kshatriyas or Vaishyas. The fact that they classify themselves as a higher caste is hypocritical with their supposed rejection of the caste system which is entirely a Brahmanical construct. Either accept the Brahmin caste system for what it is or reject it in full measure (which is the right answer). Half-way self-identification doesn't work.
Thank you for your responses. Had a follow- up/ similar question.
How does the knowledge acquired during an MBA, help me once I have transitioned back to life as a Gen Corp/ M&A Lawyer. Lets assume my MBA is in either Operations or Marketing (not Finance)
Basically, is the MBA useful to help me as a lawyer ultimately?
True

1. Myth 1: Not everyone gets a Permanent Commission (PC)
99.9% of the JAG officers are accorded permanent commission. There is no reason to not provide PC unless the officer gets involved in corruption, moral turpitude and certain heinous offences under the Army Act.
Myth 2: Lots of unnecessary travel
A person posted in Delhi would never be sent to the other end of the country like Northeast. That's precisely the reason why the IA is divided into geographical and regional commands. A JAG officers who is posted as an Assistant JAGs(Lt or Captain) of a formation headquartered in Dimapur could be called for a case in Imphal if the situation demands but you do not have to pay for air travel and stay. Mostly, he has to deal with the army cases of that jurisdiction in the respective high court.
Well said! We need to stop ALL reservation: SC, ST, OBC, NRI, EWS, Domicile... EVERYTHING!
Merit over votebank politics!
