I support OP. NIRF is the official government ranking. So deal with it. NLSIU, NLUD and NALSAR are the Big 3 and Tier 1. Full stop. Even if I accept NALSAR could be higher than NLUD, the Big 3/Tier 1 hierarchy stays. Hey! Yes. There were many good people there. Truly appreciate them. But some I encountered were ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮. For example, someone was yawned 10-15 times, literally, while giving me instructions and that's just one example. I wish best for the firm. It's always going to be a mixed bag. First, when NIRF submission refers to 2015 batch they refer to those who entered in 2015 and graduated in 2020.

Second, the 2020 NIRF data was used to highlight the deliberate nature of lying on the part of NLUD. Their internal memo clearly stated something else and they submitted made up data to NIRF. 2020 was the last year when NLUD put raw data onto internal servers. So, we use 2020 data to make it easier for ▮▮▮ to easily compare the difference between the truth (internal memo) and the falsehood (NIRF submission), no brains required.

Third, the method of calculating median does not change once it leaves the metro station and enters NLUD. Refer to one of the earlier comments where someone has shown step by step how to calculate median.

fourth, as for the 2023 NIRF submission, many commentators above have already shown how NLUD have again either deliberately or recklessly submitted false information. "1) the 19lpa media salary for graduates at NLUD is a fantasy, some apologists tried taking the charitable view that it is average, but that is mathematically impossible. 2) NLUD has quoted that they have 124 teachers, the list on their internal severs shows how people who came for one lecture have been put as contractual and those who have never even come either in person or online in last couple of years have been put in as visiting professors" I would add that even the research income and scopus citations for NLUD is suspect (given the inflated teacher list).

The problem further intensifies with Student Council becoming puppets of ▮▮▮. They don't apply their mind and agree to what ▮▮▮ says. The chairperson of student council doesn't have skills either to lead the council or to negotiate with admin. She merely won because no one else was there.

The college needs some significant means either in form of protest or something else to keep admin under some check. Because the college is getting famous for all the bad reasons.

They cite their lack of funds for moots, ADRs and other activities, but then organise FLOWER SHOW and do a grand advertisement for the same. Seriously, I mean which Kaw School, even for that matter University organises flower show unless you have horticulture department or some other department of that sort? For flower show they have funds, and otherwise they are bankrupt.

NLUO is in danger. Don't know what VC and her team have next for NLUOites.

People of NLUO take some strong measure, show admin and they are there because of you and not the vice versa. Tumhari fees ka khaa rahe hai wo, don't fall to whims of anyone. They have their careers sorted it's you who is going face the heat of their idiotic decisions.

See do your diligence and ask the recruiter about chances of converting assessment into a job. Go for assessment that guarantees a job.

I did a physical internship with him last year. Found him to be quite proactive and engaging with interns, though he was quite busy all the time. Got a lot to learn including seeing proceedings in multiple courts and tribunals. He also helped me in getting further internships which was very generous of him. Not sure about pay - it should be similar to other litigation offices in Delhi. The work was certainly very interesting and diverse.

there is no roadmap..., getting a job after LLM is almost impossible. You can get into litigation and join advocates willing to train you. However, you can do that right after graduation and do not need a job for that.

So you should try that instead of wasting your money and time.

Last year they tried to sell the 3 year BA/Vocational BA bullshit to Odia locals and hardly a dozen people signed up. Last semester, people did not even see the people who had enrolled for the BA course. Now this 3 year LLB is a fresh attempt at trying to give the Univ some localised image (college based in Odisha for Odias). My guess is while some honest and good students who want to do 3 year LLB after their graduation will sign up, the majority of the enrollment would come from likes of people who just want to get the degree for namesake or where it is mandatory for enrollment to the bar. They haven't even introduced any entrance paper, so they've themselves indicated that this is the lot they're looking for.

Bruv they had no criteria for saying if anyone cheated or no. The list of students caught in malpractice was the most random shit ever. People who did not cheat and did cheat both ended up on the list. There wasn't any appeal mechanism. Faculties wouldn't tell you why or for which answers you ended up on the list. There were dozens of students who simply ended up on the list because they had quoted some provision verbatim and it reflected similarity.

So, while it is true that no cheater should be considered for a gold medal, the real story actually runs quite deep.

For example, students were ready to accept show cause notices and answer to a panel constitueted by the admin (this was the VC's own suggestion) for the alleged cheating, no such thing ever took place! At the end of it all they just randomly subtracted x,y,z marks from students and said we've subtracted marks for cheated portions. All of this while some faculties did informally admit that there was no criteria to determine cheating (whether copied from internet or any other student) and faculties had no clue what to do, while others just did a random fishing and roving enquiry to satisfy the admin's request of penalising students.

What are you talking about? Shortening means shortening the length of the study. So long as you have at least one university subject to study in every semester, you will have to attend classes and sit for exams like everyone else at the same time, regardless of your other credits or PPOs. You can take it easy and have fun.

Honestly, I don't think that things are gonna improve at NUSRL after Ashok Patil comes in. I have personally been taught by Patil and as far as my understanding goes, he isn't a good professor or an administrator. He's a good person and is flexible about everything. Such a flexible character should ideally not be an administrator

RIL is a listed company- those shares have now been dematerialised. the current value of RIL shares is roughly INR 2.4K- Depending on value of share, if the shares' value exceed INR 50 lacs, which is possible if a share certificate pertains to multiple shares, obtain a succession certificate from the District Judge. For less than 50 lacs, an ordinary indemnity bond might suffice. All depends on which demat you are dealing with

Aim to have at least two decent publications by the end of the year, intern at least twice with good firms, if not the major players, read samples of drafting basic legal documents from literature available on the Internet, Youtube or books, increase your public speaking and presentation skills (you may even discuss those with the senior LLB students who have cracked interviews), learn to use the databases well for research and come up with a decent piece of dissertation.

As a recent graduate from NUJS, I will say this. I consider NLUD to be a very good place to study law at for any student in this country at present. It has made a name for itself within less than 5 years from when their first batch had graduated, which is always a good indicator of the quality of an institution. I consider NLUD to be a place from which many other institutions including my own alma can learn several things. Whether NLUD too can and should learn from other institutions is of course a matter for their own students to ponder about and not my place to comment upon. I have got several friends from there with whom I am on the best of terms, and they are as good and capable as any that I have seen. I have never understood the motivation of all the anonymous mudslinging that goes on in this forum, be it against NLUD, NUJS, NLSIU or anywhere else.

To the young law students or aspirants who visit here, I would like to only say that the real world is quite different, with those who are successful or on their way to achieving success understanding that you don't have to drag anyone else down in order to do better, and that this industry is too small to engage in petty and mindless bickering with each other. If NLUD has got any shortcoming, then I would expect their students, admin and faculty to work together on their own to sort that out, just as we would be trying to do that for NUJS. I don't really see what business outsiders have with that, or any constructive difference that the vitriol spewed here serves. The moderator has not really done a good job in controlling all this hatred that goes on around this NIRF ranking business every year, but at the same time, we all can and should do better too. Let's all support each other instead of tearing into each other, the educational scene and the profession would both benefit from such sense, I assure you. Neither I, nor anybody whom I know in real life from my university has got any ill-will towards NLUD or its students, or NLSIU, NALSAR or anyone else for that matter, and I haven't actually known anyone from those places to have such either. The higher studies numbers are for a batch that’s older, check your source, that makes it clear enough. And it isn’t even an internal document since it is publicly available on the website. You’re not some major leaker/investigator here.

Look man, you’re clearly hard pressed against NLUD and want to take this opportunity to claim that all the data is fake but apart from the salary figures, there’s literally no other data you can prove which is certifiably inaccurate. You want to call out the salary issue, fair enough, I also feel that it needs revision, but the rest of what you’ve cited are rubbish claims. And no, salary figures were very much accurate till the 2020 NIRF, so claiming that “they’ve always lied” is hyperbolic and misleading.

And NIRF permits citing visiting and contractual faculty including research associate positions and from what I see, there is no inaccuracy there. Other NLUs also include contractual and visiting faculty in their lists, that’s not illegal so long as you don’t wrongly classify a contractual one as permanent or something. And NLUD does in fact employ quite a few folks across its handful of research centres, maybe your college can’t afford to do that.

I am at very problematic stage of my career and would highly appreciate any of your tips and guidance as probably even career counsellors are too busy selling their extravagant courses to students like me, and thye aren't quite happy with the idea of ppl like me not falling for their tomfoolery , anyway here it goes.

I am a General Corporate , M&A and Banking Finance enthusiast , having gradated from a s**T a*ss college in 2023 (by the description, you might have realized how bad it is - no placements , no internship support etc.etc.) . I am deeply interested in the aforementioned practice areas, however , wherever I am applying, I getting responses like "We need someone with at least 1 year of Experience" , experience", which I am not able to fulfil unfortunately , although had i been a relation of HG Wells, I would have borrowed the Time Machine from him , went ahead in time, did my exp. and came back to fulfill their criteria. Which i do not have presently .

Now , All I am getting are assessment internships , with no real job conversion protentional or even worse, regular internships. Now i would like suggestions that what should I do at this point? Should i go about another year just interning , considering i have reasonable experience in the practice area but since the market norms are very strict , I am helpless, or shall I switch to another practice area for the sake of livelihood and a decent designation (P.S. Assessment interns/trainees are more or less like the accurate embodiment of the famous hindi saying " Dobhi ka k*** , na ghar ka na Ghat ka). I was considering doing llm from Jindal or Symbi , but considering the slim to none placement prospects there, I have decided to save the masters for another day (probably ill give CLAT again for a Top NLU or go for NISM) .

I am sure there are a lot and lot and lot and lot and HELL lot of students like me who are stuck in a precarious position of not getting placed through college, and not having a litigation background , so kindly offer me with any sort of reasonable solution to the problem .I shall be highly thankful to you . I was also considering joining LPOs and Consultancy services given they are meant for freshers only, but now not in favour very much since they do not have growth prospects later (albeit I can be wrong in my assesement also so no strict decisions) .

I just gave my finals for B.Com, Delhi University and will be giving Company Secretary Finals this December. I interned as a Company Secretary article for 4 months as well at a PCS firm. I'm clueless about what stuff I should be doing at NLS and how I should be approaching the said stuff. Any tips or insights at all will be appreciated .

Over 120 kids were debarred/failed this time around at NUJS, most of that number consisted of students who didn't have the adequate attendance.

The university has become increasingly stricter when it comes to these matters. There are party folks everywhere, yes even at NLS. It depends entirely on the student as to what they want to prioritise.

Can someone here who's done an MBA after practicing law for 2-3 years guide me as to what kind of domain is best suited with a degree in law? For ex: is it with the revenue or strategy teams, marketing? Also, can someone shed some light on the fact that do recruiters actually put some weightage on your law degree while recruiting and what kind of in hand salary to expect after completing the 2 year MBA course

With the start of 3-year LLB Programme, and an option whether to stay at hostel or not, is NLUO on the lines of becoming another DU? The problem is not that they have started a PG programme, but do they have resources for them as they struggle with everything from infrastructure to faculties for their current UG and LLM courses. Even last semester some of the classes were being held in makeshift classrooms.

They have made the hostels optional, and are trying to enforce some hostel admission rules, which are not seen by anyone yet, and obsolete Hostel Discipline Rules (which advise against keeping laptops and phones in rooms).

Why is NLUO VC taking decision in haste when they are not able to support their existing programmes? Is she trying to do what she couldn't do in DU?

From what I have heard :-

2. Nujs - very toxic because of favouritism

3. NLS- toxic but still effective

4. NLU-D - very competitive and even more toxic

5. NLUJ - not toxic at all

An interesting parallel can be drawn between the Indian cricket team and NLSIU. While both of them play domestically(NIRF , moots) with full force and vigour , they have been losing the international titles(Rhodes , TCs and QS) one after the other. Not trolling but bringing about the reality. With the upcoming batch (their cringey intro groups can be one example) and the increased batch strength , nlsiu is sure to lose more respect. Will batch of 2029 be the possible saviour or NLS will just gradually lose the command? This is a genuine query and I hope people will respond maturely.

Other strong domestic players like Nujs,Nalsar and NLU-D are churning out excellence. NLS isn’t just NLS anymore. I have a genuine question to the people studying there - what went wrong? In spite of true academic rigour , NLS just remains unfulfilled (even in terms of academia).

All this talk about caste is very weird for children and grandchildren of South Asian immigrants. None of that matters in the U.K./Europe. Families do make sure that everyone marries into the same ethnicity (Gujjus marrying Gujjus, Kashmiris marrying Kashmiris, and so on and so forth), but caste isn’t so ingrained over here. My family are originally from Tanzania and Kenya, it’s the same over there. I’m second generation Gujarati and Punjabi, but my mum hasn’t even been to India. That’s how far removed Tanzanian Indians/Kenyan Indians are from the motherland. We can’t relate to people who are directly from India. East African Indian culture is so different. South African Indians would feel weird in India too. I thank my great-great-great grandfather for leaving India decades before Partition. Indian people from India care too much about caste and skin colour. I’m on the lighter skin tone end for a British Indian. I was called all sorts when I was growing up - Arab/Pakistani/Afghan - but I embraced it and enjoyed telling people my ancestors are Northern and Northwest Indians! My son is as light as me, but the generations have changed. Being lighter for your ethnicity isn’t unique anymore, because the U.K. has a very large light skin ethnic population. My son and my next child probably won’t face the same bizzare questions about their ancestry. Telling ignorant people that you are actually Indian (when they stupidly assume every other ethnicity under the sun) is actually satisfying. I mean.. most ignorant Americans don’t even know Indian people can be lighter skinned with lighter eyes. That Indian Simpson character is what they think every Indian looks like hahaha. More fool them.

Hey. First of all, congratulations! Now is the time to give up. Think about the times you won't be able to attend all those cool parties at SLS. Anyway, all that matters is an NLU badge. Top 5 NLUs dominate everywhere. If you want to go to SLS, take a separate loan to maintain a social life. What will you do if you don't have the money to ask someone out or get someone a drink? You won't even have half a decent social life for 5 years. I would think that's kinda sad. Or go to a CNLU or a TNLU and become a nobody.

Punjabis (Sikhs and Hindu Punjabis) are fairer than the average Indian. Maybe not all Punjabis…. but I would say many don’t look like the stereotypical version of brown Indians. The actor Karan Vohra would not look out of place in the Middle East. His wife is the same. Then you have women like Kanika Kapoor who are fully Indian yet they could be mistaken for another ethnicity. There are too many famous and non famous Punjabi people to list. Punjabis and Haryvani are basically taller/fairer than people from other states (barring places like Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal.

The comment on South Indian Brahmins is 100% correct. Even most South Indian Brahmins are darker skinned. Some might be fairer, but the majority aren’t. Just look at the matrimony ads: South Indian Brahmin men and women are darker than North Indian Brahmins/Kshatriyas. South Indian Brahmins tend to fetishise lighter skinned North Indians. It’s really ugly.

They refund all the money if you opt out of taking admission there, don't they? So, I don't see it as a huge issue. Besides, apart from NLS and at the most NALSAR for some aspirants, nearly every other CLAT ranker who gets a CLAT NLU and clears AILET would prefer NLUD. And there's less some 100-odd students (in all categories) every year who even get to make that choice. Yeah, you might have to take a loan if you're from an economically weak household, but maybe reach out to the college authorities if you need help.

But to get to the point, it's a simple question of demand. If someone in the merit list doesn't pay up, there is already a person next in line who will, so the college doesn't have much to lose. NLUD uses this to their advantage. Plus, shifting the CLAT cycle to December has made this a problem since merit lists go on being prepared till May of the next year with people choosing different colleges. Previously, when I took the two exams, there was time till CLAT results to confirm whether you are taking up the NLUD admission.

Permanent Commission is not halwa that anyone can take it. PC given on the basis of merit, performance & recmndn of CO or HoD. It's a military job and there merit/performance/ recommendation strictly matter especially in Army sector & it cannot be ignored. However getting PC in JAG is easier than NDA grades.

Also only those are considered for PC who before expiry of 10yr of SSC period opt for PC, if not opted than max. he can served for 14yr, afterthat released.So not 99.9% but max. 70-80% JAG make for PC rest either failed or didn't opt.

I have entered my 4th year. Want to understand around what time this year/next would hiring for 2025 batch begin for Tier1.
