Also, pakistan is a failed theocratic state, i'd rather not compare my country to it.
situation of minorities is bad in Pakistan, no one denies it, also let's not talk about Kaneria, the only thing he is known for is match fixing, and his bitterness is showing, he has realized that by making such statements he will attract large bhagwa crowd and get a paycheck from x.

If it's NDA then adjust from customary clauses i.e. gov.law, disputes look for :
Nature of information - certain specific info and also any info prescribed in any law be treated as confidential.
Time period - for his long the info be kept confidential.
Disclosing party's obligations and rights to safeguard the info. And remedies on info being available from receiving party the obligations shouldn't be contrary to law and restricted only to the extent of professional dealing.
That before making available the info public receiving party shall inform disclosing party.
First thing is to fix your sleep schedule though. You'll end up depressed before you're overweight lol.

4) SNG & Partners (top heavy boutique specializing in B&F and blue chip DCM work)

6) Khaitan (SS is super high quality and extremely smart; knows how to think beyond the given)
7) JSA (Gurgaon office does a mix of corporate financing and debt restructuring work across teams)
8) L&L (KM and GR are gems to work with and are known to have a very jolly culture in their teams)
9) Phoenix Legal (Decent work but the B&F partner is difficult to work with; tread with peril here)
10) Desai & Diwanji (Gurgaon does advisory work in M&A and acts as a support group for the Mumbai B&F/GC verticals so thats something worth considering)
Do you think oct 7 was a terrorist act? or do you think the rape of women and murder of babies is legitimate resistance? we dont need to appeal to authority when we can simply look at actions to decide no?

Any of these internships, you will be in the top tier of your college. If you have more than one, then you'll be leagues ahead of your batch.
Don't let the kids on LI make it seem like its butterflies and rainbows or that they're dealing with the high and the mightly or that they are the movers and shakers of large transasactions. They are none of that. They're typing away a clause or formatting an agreement at 1am in their cubicle - something that no one else will ever read. Most kids with 2/3 years of work experience don't know their arse from their elbow.
You're right now blinded by what seems snazzy from the outside. "M ampersand A" sounds cool but it is drab work with uncertain hours and mind numbing due diligence. As a corporate law firm lawyer, you are always obsequious with your clients; its lovely to hear (good) practising lawyers speak with their clients, like an equal and without any timidity.
If you're willing to work hard, then there are so many other professional avenues where you can make more money for the same amount of effort. For example, I have a colleague (I work in a PE fund) who studied in rural Rajastan in a Hindi medium school but he studied hard, was a CA ranker, and then went to one of the top IIMs. His English may not be polished but he is clearly a smart guy and will do well with time.
You have to play the cards you're dealt - not hope for another hand. Stop feeling like a victim and start doing what you can to reach you goal, whatever that may be. If you are an English speaking graduate then you are already luckier than 85% of Indians (at the very least). Be grateful for what you have and stop whining about what you don't.
Tech services/consulting - Accenture, Capgemini and the like. Key words to search jobs: I'm not sure what you mean here but typically you would use keywords that correspond to the skill sets that you may have. For e.g. contract management, e-discovery etc.
But here on LI, it's heresy to even bring it up. In fact, I think it's good to see SAs/PAs also starting their collecting journeys. Anonymous trolls want the new generation to be subtle and xonservative,
Thanks
Anyways, please don't barge into someone's chamber or send them an personalised email, and most importantly, don't teach them how to read emails.
Grit is a rare virtue, and we, as Indians, would do well to imbibe it into our day-to-day lives.
Thanks!

DC-HC-SC is the ultimate way to go... All that matters is you don't linger around in DC and HC for more than 2 years.
The other way is possible if you're still in your first year. If you're seriously interested in litigation. Like that's all you want to do. Do all your internships in the DC & HC. That would mean atleast 3-4 in DC and 2-3 in HC. And then you can directly join SC once you graduate.
The way it's done in DU and GLC is that they intern all their 3 years post classes. So by the time they graduate from 3 years. They already have the same experience of 2 years in DC and 1 year in HC. So that's why they immediately join SC. Trust me DC experience goes a long way in SC. Including in the eyes of your peers and seniors in SC
You may be as old London Bridge and your dad would have been PM- it does not make a difference. But do you have own matters ? Or are you a corporate lawyer? How many matters have you argued ? How many bails have you taken ? How mnay injunctions have you argued ?
1) There are only few of them and hence they run their own show. Needless to mention, the community is tight knight and due to which it becomes a challenge for jobseekers and those who are working with them. I am sure, the conscience of professionals in law firm feel suffocated a lot of times.
2) Even if candidates like me get a Masters from NLUs then also, firms will not allow us an entry. Law firms in India have highly restrictive policies. I am not sure why calibre of a person has to be judged from internships Solely.
At this point of time, law students in this country are absolutely gaga over internships. So much for internships that most of the students are hardly even picking up textbooks.
3) Restrictive policies of Firms immediately make such jobs SCARCE and ELITE . It becomes a job for which there is only one GOLDEN chance and GOLDEN GATE.
Compare this with open market and free policy of someone like a computer science graduate ? The job market is so free .
Point I am trying to make - go with option 1, have a baby alone. That will be a lot easier to manage than you think it is. I am assuming you have a family (retired mom dad would be best) close or at least who can relocate for sometime, after your maternity leave ends. Having a baby will be immensely immensely satisfying.
Option 2 - that you can anyways do even after having the baby alone. If you are destined to find the right guy, you will find him before or after option 1. Shouldnt make a difference.

For GC/M&A teams can anyone shed light on the number of working hours at A0-A2 levels?
Also what is the time most teams have to come in during the day?
Mumbai and Delhi offices please.
Also how is the culture? Nice seniors who want you to become better or not really?
Would appreciate any help
Previously, I've always led a fairly active and athletic lifestyle - going to the gym, home workouts, playing sports in college. This has also always formed an integral part of my personality. For the past 5 months however, fitness has been put on the backburner, and this has started to manifest itself through weight gain. Recently, when I went home for Diwali, some relatives also commented on this. The weight gain, and the knowledge that other people are noticing the weight gain, has affected my self-esteem, and I feel disconnected with the person i used to be - healthy and active.
I know, however, that it is entirely possible to integrate some fitness elements into my lifestyle. I'm just struggling to figure out how to do so at the moment. The following are my core issues:
1. Waking up early: The timings that I return home allow for workouts to be done only in the morning before work. However, given that I've been doomscrolling till 2am for the past 5 months, my sleep cycle is now such that I am unable to fall asleep before 2am. This allows me to barely wake up by around 8am, which allows me to reach office by 9:30-10:00am, and takes away any scope of getting a workout in in the morning.
2. Energy levels: I am very committed to my work, and want to make sure that there is no compromise in my ability to perform. I worry that working out may tire me out, and I may not be able to maintain the energy levels required to perform well on the job.
3. Availability and types of workout: While there is a gym in my office building, I would prefer not to use it in light of the fact that a bunch of people from office do, and I would just like to feel removed from work and work-esque environments during my personal time. There are also very few gyms around my house, and the ones that are close in proximity charge exorbitantly. In such a scenario, should I suck it up and use the gym in my office building, or are there other things that I can do for my fitness apart from using gyms at all?
Motivation: After pulling off work days, I just don't seem to have the energy or the motivation to push myself some more and work out.
I come to the LI and corporate law veterans for some advice. If you've been there, done that, or if you have any tips in general, please help a junior out, and please be kind.

I also agree that almost every lawyer has dreams to scale the mountain from Trial Court -> HC -> SC , but it rarely happens . One big reason is that, if your own independent matters start picking up in Trial Court, then you wont really find time to network/ take on more work load and burden of other Courts especially in today's time when litigation is not preferred path of many grads and Juniors are expecting payments too (including me).
In a nutshell, directly hitting Commercial / IPR litigation in Delhi HC makes sense. Its a hack.
1. A university is not meant to be a space for political indoctrination.
2. No professor should shut down voices contrary to theirs.
3. Hamas is a terrorist organisation and the Israel-Palestine issue is not as black and white as the left is making it out to be.
4. Jai Shri Ram is an age-old, religious slogan. The slogan itself cannot become offensive because radical elements use it. By that logic, the same can be said of slogans from Islam and Sikhism.
5. The word "ch***ya" may be a synonym for "fool", but it is a vulgar synonym, similar to saying
"dumbf**k" instead of "fool". Such words should never be used by professors against student.
6. Showing dating profiles of students, or outing students with dating profiles, is never acceptable and a gross violation of privacy and teaching ethics.
Thank you.

It would take the grace of god to rescue any part of humanity from such savagery and barbarism. No?
Switched to Corporate/M&A at another T1 firm after a year and I am doing pretty well over there. Now although I struggled with research initially (since you practically don't indulge in hardcore research in ECM/DCM deals) but my sharp business acumen and due diligence discipline (which ECM thoroughly builds in you) made the toughest negotiations seem like chalk and cheese as against my peers in the same team; which has helped me take up client calls without any form of stringent partner policing at large.
So, while the cons are marginally more than the pros of working in a mind numbing practice like that of capital markets, playing to the strengths of the game and figuring out an exit is the way forward to life I guess. Won't recommend capital markets to anybody - more specifically to the new trend of law students taking up this path thinking that its easier to get placed blah blah blah.
Wishing you the best and hope things get better for you. Take good care and seek help, if required.
My sincere apologies for this long ass reply but I hope it helped.
Give me your wish list! I want to work towards developing solutions that make your life better.
Delhi: Toxic air, aggressive people, horrible traffic.
Mumbai: Worst traffic of all. Very very expensive.
Bengaluru: Bad traffic and pollution as well, increase in Kannada regionalism fuelled by all political parties.
All the three cities: Tough to get children admitted to the best schools, impossible to join good clubs if you want to play tennis or go swimming, only option is to go to resorts based faraway in the outskirts or live in a very expensive gated community.
Pune has no work of significance. Only AZB has an outpost there, which for all practical purposes is a support office for AZB Mumbai. Only grunt due diligence support work. I believe that's even the case with its Blr office. No pay parity for sure.
Ahmedabad is something to look out for. Some law firms are trying their luck out there at GIFT City, but it will need a harder push to attract talent from across India (if that's even a goal there).
Your experience may not be the one you wanted but don't discount the hard work you may have put in over these years. LPO folks are typically strong with processes, systems and technology within an in-house legal context - something that is critical for most companies with large legal teams.
My recommendation would be to apply to large technology consulting / services companies, the Big4 etc - they love hiring from LPOs and provided you are skilled enough, you should easily be able to land a job in one of them. Law firms will be tough and honestly after 7 years in a LPO, no one will even think of hiring you as an A0. That's the tough truth.
Chin up, hang in there. I'm sure you'll do well.

beige, biscuit or some shade of brown that compliments your skin colour well
black if you are wearing light grey trousers
Basically sober colours. Bright colours can also be formal sometimes but it is better not to experiment until you understand what works

Tbh it's a long shot, but worked for me. Also you'll find that there are very very few Partners who will reply back to your email and some who will prefer that you go through the official channels, so you really need to be careful on who you are sending the mail to and figure out if they are likely to reply to your mail and resume.
People like these (who respect you enough to respond) exist folks! (and i am sure he isn't hiring cause there is no attrition in his team due to his professional nature).
At the same time I really want to learn and form a string base for litigation. Would appreciate any suggestions for places I can apply to.
