We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.
Note that what you find here is written and moderated by anonymous people on the internet.
Therefore everything you read here is very likely unverified, rumour, speculation and/or downright false.
In continuing to read anything here, you must therefore agree not to take anything you read here as factual and that you will exercise due caution, diligence and common sense before acting on any information you may come across here.

Both male and female partners who are unmarried or divorced are bad for work life balance. And they emit toxicity. Known fact.
Now Paytm Payments Bank could even be shut down.
It shows importance of culture of compliance and hiring the right legal and compliance team.
Friends of the then ICC Chair (well networked with NGOs) are Chairs of LCCs in Barasat, Kolkata etc. May explain why the Associate Prof skipped ICC and went to LCC.
But what about the original query posed here? Did the Associate Professor actually file an FIR against NKC or is it just the complaint to the LCC Barasat?
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
suddenly the vote ratios on a lot of GNLU-related posts makes a lot more sense
Same is the case for other batches. And, yes we have foreign LLMs, civil services, and corp jobs.
Well again the numbers aren't as high as T1 and some T2 NLUs but they aren't supposed to be since the student intake ain't that great plus the college does nothing to provide opportunities.
After 6 months shifted to a young and an upcoming extremely smart civil and commercial lawyer. I was and still am the only junior in his office. The experience at this place has made change my perspective.
That pay for the first 6 months was at par with a T1 firm stipend to a law student. Thereafter multiple pay revisions because of my performance and contribution to the office. Passes on matters to me which are not worth his time, so helps me build my practice too. At this point I earn enough to make more than my monthly expenses living in a T2 city away from my home.
I have been extremely lucky to work with my senior. Following things makes me continue litigation: -
A. Not a single day is spent doing the same thing
B. Daily learning
C. Independence
D. Full control over time
Trust me if you find a good office to work, litigation can be the best thing that could happen to your life. Cheers buddy
In Kerala I haven't faced any discrimination in real life (maybe because OBCs are majority). But after I left the state to join my NLU, I came to taste caste and class discrimination for the first time, along with a slight dosage if regional discrimination [ The reason why I didn't mention colourism is because I faced it within Kerala too]
During our early days at the university, few teachers asked us to introduce ourselves to the class by telling our CLAT AIR rank. By the look on their faces and their snide comments I could tell that they were attacking the concept of reservation.
Among my friends, the topic of reservation hasn't been picked up yet, so I don't know their stance and opinions . However a batchmate of mine sneered on hearing my AIR rank and muttered some derogatory insult at reservation. As a retort I used the term "brahmanical privilege". For this the guy got irritated and made derogatory jokes about Kerala and even mocked sensitive issues like the Mulakkaram. Me trying to convince him how it's our own hardwork which improved our lifestyle, further irked him for some reason. And I can't belive that he dug up things about my caste to insult me going as far as jus primae noctis / Adhyaratri Avakasham . Of course this wasn't said I'm front of others but directly to me. I even vividly remember his cold expression and raspy tone.
Apart these incidents there were no overt caste discrimination in this NLU. However there were frequent dank jokes on various reserved classes and I did feel a bit left out, but I think that was more to do with the economic status and connections. (Which can on most cases be traced to the UC privilege).
However to give credit where it's due, the college has been wonderful in terms of things like moots, debates, etc and placements also seem to be growing decently over last few years I heard. So as an end note, while I faced discrimination from a tiny quarter, I still remain indebted to this university and consider it as a second home.
So yeah, its not true that all firms are done hiring .
Stop demotivating
If you want to do a PhD at a law department then you are limiting yourself only to IIT KGP. Why narrow down your options?
Would it be wise at this stage? Considering, at 28 if I am not able to crack the exams I would have to go back to some chamber.

you need to learn 4 things:
1. deal structure (you do not have to structure deals - thats done by bankers and very senior people, but you can't do the rest if you cannot understand the structure of the deal and the commercial incentives behind it)
2. how to do due diligence (likely you will do this a lot)
3. how to draft deal documents (mostly agreements - depending on the firm, this will also come to you but in some big law firms you don't get to do this for first 1-2 years)
4. deal compliance (this you will have to do as the junior in the team, and if you screw up here you will likely get fired)
How I wish I could just refer you to a manual which explains all these
But no such thing exists to my knowledge
your best option will be some online courses which teach these things hands on but they are very unpopular on this platform so I will not take their name
Do your research
If you just want to read some law, read company law throughly, and maybe FDI policy - but note that it will not teach you the above 4 work that associates have to do almost every day
Yours truly

1. Hiring process: Hiring is through internships. I'm taking one or two interns a month. They work with me closely and are selected on the basis of a technical round. All internships are assessment internships. All internships are eligible to a stipend (see above). That being said, I'm not planning to hire in huge numbers (only hiring 2 freshers in 2024, for eg.) so there's a one in 12 chance (maybe less than that) that internships will convert.
2. Pay Scale: 20% discount to Tier 1 scales. We are in the process of mapping what that means based on LI and other data. Let's speak - I recognise the importance of pay transparency so there are no unwelcome questions/ interventions.
3. Hiring for 2025: Yes
4. Long-term interns: Not sure. Let's speak.
You do realise that we look like clowns due to these posts? Please stop man, don't be a news reporter, there are far better things to do in life then JL and Penta.
Don't ruin the reputation of the institution, at this juncture it feels like the college is just known for its drama, to anyone from GNLU reading this... Spread the masala inside the college not on this platform have some self respect.
the acting guy is going to be around for a long time unless someone pushes the case
Mumbai GLC is famous I agree
Or is it the case that the definition is not applicable for clerks etc who do have nexus with final work product?
Can a senior advocate legally stipulate 14 hrs working day in employment contract?
I am a batch of 2025 student and my area of interest is taxation, international taxation particularly. I am open to learn and explore more.
I have a few questions.
What is the hiring process?
What is the exact pay scale you'll be offering?
Are you looking to hire for the 2025 batch?
Are you looking for long-term interns?
Please suggest boutique firms/ firms with a good corp team that takes in 2nd years.
Ideally a place where I can learn stuff and gives some stipend
Its like asking patients what medicines they want- you might have a few who say- well that depends on the diagnosis and what the doctor recommends. Most people who will be vocal though will be addicts who want you to give them oxy/fenty without limit.
Academics in India need to gain a backbone. They live in a make believe world where there is no crisis of integrity going on. Once you spend any time among students and hear how they talk- its shocking.
Some place where they actually assign work to you and give you some stipend
Thanks in advance
1) Unless intended otherwise, replace double space with single space
2) Defined terms usually begin with an alphabet in upper case e.g. "Project" means/ shall mean... ensure uniformity of usage throughout the document
3) Check whether references to another clause are correct
4) Check for uniformity in words and numbers (100,000 USD = One hundred thousand USD and not Ten Thousand USD)
5) Unless intended otherwise, ensure uniformity of font type and font size throughout the document
6) Treat the task as a challenge not with grudge or fear
7) Once you are absolutely sure you have read the entire document carefully, read it again. If possible, re-read it after a gap of few hours, with a fresh mind
8) Once you've completed the task, ask yourself if you'll be fine doing such tasks for the first few years of your life as a transactional lawyer.
All the best!
I'm feeling bad for my parents for wasting their hard earn money
This is my first time getting fail I mean I got back in one of my papers and I'm feeling like I'm a loser who doesn't have any knowledge about studies.Getting back means fail it's the same thing. My hands are shaking rn . I want to talk with my bestfriend but I'm feeling so shame to tell her. I need someone rn to talk to console me but I don't know whom to talk about what I'm feeling rn. There's one question in my mind "is getting pass with back paper a shame thing"?.
Strictly answering your question, judiciary’s syllabus would somewhere around 15-20% of what you will have to study and memorise in UPSC.
Upsc is highly unpredictable
No NLU student is posting on LinkedIn or on Legally India about people not getting into NLU and making them the laughingstock. It is just people like you who post on LinkedIn just to try to hate NLU and make yourself a laughingstock. Nobody looks down on you if you have a good mouth. I believe you're the intern who arrogantly stays silent around NLU interns to feel superior. Your hate prevents you from accepting that their choice of field or philosophy is just their opinion.
You do what you want, and let others do what they want.
This post shows why you didn't get into NLU. From your childhood until now, you have tried to be a superior person. You were that child in your childhood who just took away the bat after getting out. When it was your turn to chase your friends in a game of chasing, you just said, 'I want to go home.' By doing these things, you felt superior. But then, if people had their own fun and didn't include you in the activities they were doing, you just blamed them without checking your own actions. You were the bitter mouth in the colony.
Nobody looks down on anyone; you make yourself a person to be looked down upon by other people

I bet you you will find that there are people who look much worse than you being in relationship, being married, having kids and everything you want
It probably has everything to do with self-esteem, fear of relationships, the vibes that men get from you
I would say you should start seeing a therapist and start working on any trauma you have from the past or maybe any unreserved childhood issues
Any tips and suggestions on this this from you seniors are highly appreciated.
Pls don't troll.
This is sooo true. Especially when we can't make time for our own family and parents. I know a friend who's senior asked him to stay back when he had to take his dad to a dialysis session. There's a special place in hell for these senior advocates
If possible imagine the case of a 12LPA guy and answer the question.
Junior Associates, SA, Partners anyone working in a Tier 1 firm, please answer.
