We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I hold 5 years B.A.LLB(Hons) and pursuing my LLM Degree (1 year). I am currently looking out the scope of opportunities in Abroad and have narrowed it down to Australia or Canada. I'm keen on understanding the dynamics and applicability of practicing law in these countries, and I'm particularly interested in Australia. Instead of pursuing a Juris Doctor, I'm considering completing the Priestly 11 and Legal Practitioner training to see if this would suffice for securing decent job opportunities in Australia.
Whilst for Canada it is the NCA exam and furtherance . I would greatly appreciate for insights in Australia and whether instead of doing a Juris Doctor, Would just me pursuing the Priestly 11 and Legal Practitioner training suffice for getting into decent jobs . As I consider doing JD would be too tedious to do again
Please understand that my intention is not to convey any negativity towards working here in India.
How big is this scope of basics, any particular topics? or the entire act
Any help would appreciated.
(The team is not GC or M&A and hence the question of what all to prepare above and over the specific practise area)
I completely understand where you're coming from and I hope you know that you're not alone.
Let me know if you want to talk about it and ill drop an email id here
However in Kerala, the financial status of Ezhavas rose up because of various factors including mass social reformation movements, missionary education, legal reforms opening up newer business avenues, etc. And finally when we got our first CM( R.Shankar) from the community, we were declassified from SC and made into OBCs.
▮▮▮ To get back to the point: it does not matter what your personal ▮▮▮ judgement of my character is, nor what motives you hallucinate me to be having. My words stand on their own capacity, and I challenge you to respond to the substance of my argument without concocting non-existent facts or devolving to ad hominem.
Alternatively, you can continue to talk about how you feel, but it is not a valid argument and does not matter.
So you can't say that ezhavas are Dalits, they weren't Dalits"
Brother/ Sister we both known that's not true. Except for the vaidyar part everything you mention is recent occurings happening within 150 due to the struggle and sweat of our own ancestors. Dalits just means Avarnas technically. Instead of trying to distance ourselves from them just because our status rose a little, we should support them and other bahujans and bring up them to our level bare minimum.
Our political and social power is not at all caste-derived under upper castes. There is no documented mythological tale for us. The power you talk of stemmed from sweat & blood of our own revolutionaries of last period like Arattupuzha Velayudha Chekavar, Narayana Guru, Sahodaran Ayyappan etc. So I would still we say Ezhavas were historically Dalits and should be proud to be one also. We are the shining example of how hardworking and social justice elevate living standards rapidly.
Jai Bhim Jai Gurudevan.
Bro in the same ship. Let's connect
Fellow final year student from GLC here. It is completely understandable what you are going through. Just saying, 'We have all been through this' does not make it easier. GLC is a different journey of its own and can be quite daunting at times.
Everyone's path here is unique; people often chart their routes. This quality of GLC is a boon and bane simultaneously. I am sure you will figure out your way too, just do not lose hope. Do not forget to have fun while doing whatever you are doing.
And I am sure you have an ample amount of mentors and seniors to seek out for advice, but in case you ever need someone to just listen or even discuss random shit, please let me know. We shall definitely connect, always happy to help!
I was not from GLC Mumbai, but from a T-2 NLU which too was not considered that good for placements. All that anxiety and fear for being unemployed is understandable at your age, especially if you come come from a not so sound finances back at home, like me. But trust me, the only way to escape this is by fighting it and keeping yourself busy in something meaningful. Do something that keeps you engaged like read some books, try to participate in some moot or ADR, or write some blogs. This will not only help you to keep engaged but would also help you grow your intellect.
And take it easy kid, you are just 18. You have your whole life in front of you.
Where can i buy myself a good black coat that will last me for a long time.
Budget is from 3k-7k ish
- current FY student at NLS

How to associates (A1/A2/A3) manage to convince BD team?
If the delivery guy just left it at the gate then perhaps you can contact the office and ask them to chevk with department. Try for a day or so otherwise you might have to resend and request them to accept this, share the receipts with them as well.
A partners referral- maybe
Anone below SA3- No chance
I usually don't respond to such threads having faced similar circumstances for my sexuality and colour, and knowing that NLUs are as liberal and accommodative as they present to be, in reality are quite the opposite. I was literally bullied into attempted suicide.
But your comment rubbed me the wrong way. You seem like a horrible person who has the irresistible and unintelligible urge to defend an issue that has plagued thus country for centuries. Also shame on you mods to not even mark this comment as trollish, when normal statements in other rant posts are instantly removed when they criticise a firm or recount incidents
If you want you can spend the entire day at the library.
It doesn't make a huge difference to your projects though.
It is wiser to get all the info you need and just do the work else where away from the law school crowd.
P.S. I don't care about the advisors. I just want to teach in the future.
It doesnt sound like it. You cant expect to go out into the world and have everyone agree with you. people are different and they will have different experiences and opinions. And most people will change their opinions several times as they grow up. Best to ignore if engaging bothers you.
Keep your eye on the ball. work hard, get a job, get scholarships- all of those things are a better use of your time than getting into an argument in real life or on the internet about reservations or about brahmanical privilege. Try and not provoke arguments about caste- you cannot always help it- some guys are gonna be awful- but its no use getting into it with these guys by and large. Pretend you dont hear them and move on. Its just a waste of your time and energy to engage with this.
So my team and I qualified the memorial round and subsequently were asked to submit hard copies. We sent it via bluedart with all the details and phone numbers, and while it shows delivered and they’ve given us a persons name who received it as well, OC is saying they haven’t received it and that the delivery guy wasn’t supposed to deliver it “at the main gate” but at some service office. This was informed to us literally right now.
Any other teams facing this 🥹?
I am not able to find a good office to work. I am from a Tier 2 city too and willing to grind in the practice space (irrespective of location). How do I start if I am not receiving any response from people around to my cold emails. I am a 2023 grad with some post qualification internship experiences.
Please share any tips. Thanks in advance.
Note* This applies to all law schools in India, private and public
Sit and home. So according to you 2024 batch folks are going to be unemployed so sure and they have no chance of securing a job so they shouldn't even try and just sit at home?
