Just CAM and no one else asks. Your college wouldn't necessarily be a "top college", so Id say you need to be in the top 5% ranks of your class. Except that nothing matters. (Assuming you don't have well connects, which might help you with internships)
Hey guys,

I'll be interning at a firm in Nariman Point. Guys please suggest PGs offering single AC which are reliable and affordable. I need this in 2 months.
Hey ppl, I had been offered an internship position some months ago (Mumbai Corporate), and now am nearing to the starting date. What should I do to shine? How is the kind of work? How are the seniors?
Something seriously wrong with the current moderator. He/ she (hereinafter He) is recently releasing trollish political posts and also commenting with clear biases through the main account.

Also the political siding, He is so far left it cant even be considered left anymore, I mean I understand that everyone is entitled to a side and opinion, but not such extreme views from a moderator.
Sounds like a pretty boring lifestyle? Even after so many years of life, you didn't realise the true meaning? Law is not everything, it's just a job, it's a practice. Leave it in your office/ courts. Stop propagating this work hustle culture, some people truly value relationships outside work/ studies after college[/] internships
Why did you think Fox would've given you an internship in your first two years? TBF no RSG firm will even consider you unless you are in the 4rth or 5th yr of the 5 yr Law.

(Assuming you are applying to the HR at the designated mail, and basing it only on your CV and cover letter and nothing else...)
In an imaginary scenario, if I start preparing for UPSC and do qualify and get into the IAS/ IFS/IPS cohort, Should I take up civil services or a tier 1 corp job.

Pls solely compare on the basis of pay, prestige, opportunities in the corp world, networks, culture, intellectual stimulation, family life etc and overall in the imaginary scenario, what would you opt for?

[Do not talk about interest in the work/ field itself, I have made up my mind on that, and will not be sharing it, I want to consider the other factors, and if they can persuade a change of choice]
Learn some journalistic skills from Vice

And this video was actually an interesting take at modern feminism, wouldve missed it if not tagged like this, so thank you OP
I recently applied to SAM through a personal application? (im from NALSAR)

How long does it take before the Mumbai HR conveys its confirmation/ rejection (do they intimate that?)?

What are the chances of confirmation?
Focus on your grades as much as possible, attend all classes however unproductive or boring and make notes. Don't get into large groups of friends really fast, choose true friends who won't steer you from your goals. Don't be peer pressured into getting into relationships in the first few years, as it will affect academics and your career goals.

In your first two years, try to intern at all places possible, from corporate firms to litigation chambers, to policy/ research firms, to Legal education/journalism/startups. Don't be swayed by the money and tier 1 corporate jobs right away.

Try to network with the 5th/ 4rth years as much as possible, as they will help you with internships in the coming years. Try reaching out to the alumni too.
How much bad is the system now where everyone is getting in through contacts? what about the rest of us cold mailing people and following up for months on HR Applications? The RCC only seems to select the top 10 rankers.
HSF India Internship- https://careers.herbertsmithfreehills.com/in/grads/india-internship

Linklaters India Internship- https://careers.linklaters.com/en/early-careers/our-opportunities ----go down to International Programs-----Indian Internship

Check the Clifford Chance website also, not able to copy link for some reason

For all other firms, apply to the London Office normally
"kids have no problems paying thousand to buy iPhone's' and the latest designer clothes"

This comes from a very privileged position, and such students are in the small small minority. Have you even spoken to your batchmates? Try understanding the financial condition of everyone and see that half of them study on student debt.. at insane interest rates and in a profession that does not even pay enough for sustenance for the ordinary un-connected first gen law student.

This has started to liken to the conditions in US law schools where most people take on immense debt and then are stuck in mindless corporate slavery for years. But that should be fine in US Biglaw as the pay is at least much much better, not in India where 90 percent law students are gonna work for no pay for 5-6 years in courts.
Im from a tier 1 NLU, and personally applied a couple days ago to SAM Mumbai with a cover letter and attached my CV. How much time do they take to reply? What are the chances of acceptance?
Apply for a vac scheme at their London Office, Magic circles like Links and HSF have specific applications for Indian Students.

You have to fill the Watson glazer test and go through with the application, and there are very less chances you are selected for one.(4rth or 5th yr only)

If you do well (mostly everyone who is selected for the VC), you get offered a TC, given that you qualify the SQE examinations before the TC which they will fund and assist in training you.
Can you please name the firm please? Others could share similar experiences and it could be confirmed to be a standard practice. Im trying to apply to a tier 1, maybe could go to better choices
Google the owners of PK who bought the player. 18.5 crores is literally like dust for them. The money invested in such biddings is not really for profits or media rights. They have much bigger businesses for that.

Basically this investment is for brand value/ TRP. It's about big money leagues and industrialists' networking . Something like playing golf and betting some money on it, only for the mega ultra rich. Also for major investors to feel like they are winning something when the trophy is given, raising their confidence and therefore the value of a stock.
Sirji people need to earn money to pay for their month to month bills. You can't just prep for UPSC for free. People are willing to do any kind of work for the pay check believe me.
Connecting on linkedin? That never works ever, nobody responds to random texts for jobs/ internships.

As I mentioned in my comment above, the NLU factor doesn't matter anymore, firms are equally extending internships/ placements to people from all colleges (personal experience). Just mention your skills u would've learnt over time with each internship/ work experience. Firms are willing to consider that as well.

Minimum wage? Do you even know what is the minimum wage in the US or India? Have you heard of MNREGA? Minimum wage is way way way low as it should be. Do some research, This would've helped in ur IAS prep too.

And yes, you have to struggle for basic necessities. No government is gonna feed you food in your mouth or pay your rent, thats not why people pay tax dollars, you have to hustle, that is only fair to everyone.

No senior counsel or anybody gives any s*** about a "foreign LLM". An LLM is specialised study and research, it has no real significance in the practical reality of our courts.

I would suggest you to go to a District Court/ High Court and try networking and asking seniors fr guidance. Tell them you are willing to learn and hustle for 10 hours a day. Tell them you want to work for/ with them. May not be a senior advocate directly. Get some good experience in an area of practice that interests you and put actual efforts into research and drafting. All this can be learnt in 3-4-5 years under advocates. Then network and go to/ get referred to a senior counsel and get the experience there. By then you will find that you are able to do client work on your own and handle cases (6 years dtl). Then you can judge if you want to open your own office or work under a senior's guidance for more years.

If you are interested in corporate work, ask your senior to refer you based on your work to some smaller firms. With your experience you should be able to do that conveniently (or is more profitable to open your own office in litigation). Keep networking and you will land where you want.
Dude that's totally not the real case.

Im from a tier 1 NLU and am finding it hard to find internships even being in the above average of the class and having good experience. But Ive seen so many students from Christ, DU make it much earlier and in large numbers. Lately the level playing field has become more equal. Many (most) firms don't really hold onto the "NLU prestige factor" anymore. It's really just contacts and references and who knows who. So as was 5 yrs earlier, the "big- college name tag" doesn't really matter as much.
So what's wrong in this? This is normal, it was a fixed interest debt so doesn't matter who it is owed to.

There are specific allegations currently investigated by the SEBI about the roys diverting funds through offshore shells. The resignation happened almost simultaneously.
haan bro tu toh cap marks mein interpret karta haina clauses ko, also in every other practise area? most work is just plain old data entry, what interpretation do you even do? isn't that what a judge or arbitrator does?
"direct relavance/ interest to the indian legal community"?

Well yes the mod is totally consistent in this when 9/18 posts are trolling clearly

And why are you placing the OP on trial? these are just news claims.
What criteria does Finsec use for choosing interns, given that they only take like 3 a month? Do they only base it on contacts or actual grades solely or other experience?

How was the experience in the internship? is it as "intellectually engaging" securities law firm as is made out to be?

[Caution- Finsec is an extremely small firm and there are high chances of your comments being traced back to you. Refrain from criticism if you work there presently or don't want to be identified later]
You can hire good quality tiffin/ DIY cooking services at good rates. Crowded tubes? most firms let you get uber subscriptions with pre tax dollars and reimburse a bit. If you work past certain hours you get free rides home(car).

Yes tubes can be crowded these days, but can you even begin to compare indian metros and the London tubes in terms of safety or customer service?
