We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:

1. Brand name of the university
2. High cost which is not affordable for most Indians without a scholarship.
3.Anywhere it's the PhD students who should work hard . Guide's role is only in effective guiding by giving different perspectives etc. In foreign universities if the students don't work hard they are out of the program. In India registration to PhD program is almost equal to award of the same once the thesis is submitted
P.S telling from experience
Please suggest other options too since I really regret doing law : (

If its an hourly engagement, then (at least my team) inflate our time sheets by 50-70% since most clients, even the biggest corporates will come and haggle with you.
Apart from it, if there are meetings or visits out of the city, then everything from cabs, hotels, flights, food is billed on actuals (again, even this is inflated).
So one of the SA or the responsible associate from the team will send the TS to the billing team, maybe even discuss if needed and then it is sent out to the client. Bigger firms have dedicated billing teams, and smaller firms divide this responsibility among colleagues.
Now if you dot want to leave your hometown, there is only one serious step- Remote Working.
Firms like LexStart (there may be more, but I am not aware of them) provide WFH opportunities, I believe Thinking Legal is also one such place, but do not take my word for it. If your profile is corporate law, then you have options, however, if you are a Litigation Lawyer then.............
If this doesnt work out, invest a few thousand rupees in UpWork and start looking for legal jobs. There are plenty of Drafting jobs there and them foreigners, they do pay well. You can easily earn 40-80k in the beginning stages.
Third option, the long term option, start building a business of legal services which can be totally remote,- this part, I do not know well and someone more experienced can help, but SEO, LinkedIN articles, blog articles etc are a good start. This should be your ultimate goal, if moving to a bigger city is not an option at all.
This is the beginning of their end. NLS has slid 3 positions down with NUJS, GNLU, NLUJ and NLIU taking the lead
- Luxury watch collection: Rs 10-15 lakhs - Luxury car: Rs 30 lakhs -1 cr
- Expensive clothes: Rs 1-2 lakhs pa
- Rent: Rs 12 to 24 lakhs pa
- Foreign holidays with business class travel and stay in 5 star hotels: Rs 5-15 lakhs pa
- Eating out at expensive hotels and restaurants: Rs 1 to 6 lakhs pa
Optionals:
- Membership of Taj Chambers or Soho or other club: Rs 1 cr +
- Collecting art: Rs 25 lakhs to 1 cr+ pa
This sort of lifestyle is easily affordable for a partner, but for associates and SAs it seems too much, even if I exclude the optionals? Thus, are people living beyond their means?
Nobody supports Hamas except these few leftists.
a) Step up hiring of good-quality alumni as faculty
b) Encourage students to pursue meaningful, non-corporate careers.

Best
Not to forget CA exams are amongst the toughest exams to clear.
Also, there's a 3 year articleship period where they'll barely pay you anything.
An MBA makes more sense in my opinion as it will give you more options
All the best.
Shouldn't the international relations of a democratic country be influenced and take into consideration the will and the wishes of the people? Isn't that the whole point of a protest? To make one's voice heard?
You may disagree with the actual political stance here but you can't possible in good faith argue that no one should be allowed to voice dissenting opinions.
I don't hate my co-workers, including my boss, and have a pretty decent professional relationship with them; but I have no interest in inviting them to my house for a diwali party. I am ofcourse happy to do the gifting as per the standard expectation, whatever that is (please help!).
I am only conscious of not reciprocating (especially invites). I have also noted that some of the gifting to the overlords is rather extravagant but I'd just like to distribute the standard gift to every one in the team. Any advice on navigating Diwali in a T1 would be helpful. Thank you.

During Covid, OpIndia and other pro-BJP sites/handles had shared video clips by JGLS profs. For example, one prof (an NLU alum) had said that Kashmir does not belong to India. Another prof ( a DU LLB alum) had quoted Prof Upendra Baxi and said that that caste discrimination is intrinsic to Hinduism. These clips were recorded by students and leaked online. OpIndia did stories on them. In those days, lectures were held online , so it was easy to record. This time, the clip was obviously recored covertly using a mobile by a student in the classroom.
Now, the question to ask is whether there is any public interest in leaking these clips? In the the Kashmir and caste examples, it could be said that the profs were exercising their right to free speech and did not do anything unethical per se. In this case, does the same principle apply?? Can you show a random person's Bumble profile and mock Amity?
Thoughts?
Kaafi deep, and kaafi underrated laga mujhe.
High Court and Supreme Court direct Bar to Bench elevation is reserved for nepo kids from Judicial Clans. (Chandrachuds, Narimans, Lalits and many regional examples etc) Most of the elevation is done for Senior Advocate or Judges children.
Is the Judicial Services Exam process fair and free from corruption like UPSC?
Asking because there were some allegations that in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu you have to give bribes of lakhs of rupees to clear thr Judicial Services interview.
Is this true? Is the interview process rigged. We know thay exam is not easy to rig.
The main allegation is that to get past the interview you have to give money to agents who will then give bribes to the interview panel.
Or is there nepotism in Lower Judicial Services exam process?
Not corruption, but favoritism and nepotism.
