Looking to move laterally
Why is this so?
Came across this on my TL. The reviewer sounds like an unnecessarily caustic boomer discouraging younger talent and being resentful of their NLSIU-Oxford credentials. In GB's case, he uses the standard RW argument and attacks "judicial wokeness". In AS's case, he uses the standard LW criticisms being made of the book.
Now, I searched for the reviewer's bio. The reviewer did his PhD from Queens University Belfast (ranked 100-150 in QS Law). He teaches at a university in Norther Ireland, UK, called Ulster University (not ranked in QS Law). His bio does not mention where he obtained his LLB from. Most shockingly, he has conducted a number of podcasts with Subramanian Swamy, who his known for being a RW hate monger, for a RW organisation called Virat Hindustan Sangam.
I am just sharing all this in public interest, so people can judge the bona fides of the reviewer themselves.

And stop with this entitled attitude, you asked for advise and you got one from mid-seniority level guy here.
I have seen kids from Amity and Symbi Noida smoking many of you T1 hardos at my law firm in terms of dedication and quality if work.
Peace!!
Hoping you guys make it through.
RANBIR SINGH'S ELDEST SON.
For Kolkata, its a chill city to stay in, living costs are pretty low and over all promises the most sought after wlb.
It is a feeder to get into top universities (especially for MBAs) or join most big organizations you want.
You don't need an MBA to learn the ropes. You just need to be smart.
Leave town and go no contact with your useless family.
You might not like me saying this, but it is actually difficult to built rapport among colleagues or get discipline when involved in WFH.
During my WFH days, to counter this problem, the HR created a system where there was one common room on meets where the entire team had to be present with their cameras on, and then you can move to other apps if you had to talk to a client or a team member in private. This was nerve wrecking, under being constant surveillance.
I genuinely hate to admit it, but most A0-A1s that I have come across are grossly incompetent and most of them have no motivation or the penchant to work hard, I try to push them non violently to try to get them to work and some dont do, they are just not cut out for the fast paced grunt work that corp law is associated with, then you find 2-3 people from every batch, who make mistakes but are willing to work hard. It is almost impossible to spot the good ones while working from home as physically you can see how focused an associate is, how frequently do they go out for smoke breaks etc., that is not possible with a WFH setup. I absolutely loathe how much "survival of the fittest" this practice area is, but there is no other choice for the most part. I would love to sit and have sessions with A0s, but who has the time? Either you learn on the job or leave. Client ke pass kami nahi hai teams ki, wo koi aur pakad lega.
Sorry for the long side rant. I had to fire an A0 last week and she was crying and begging.
I love law, drafting, negotiation and sometimes the long work hours; but loathe all this.
Sorry for the long tangential rant, but yeah, WFH for 10-15 days impacts deliverables. Other friends who are engaged in other professions have seen growth in productivity, I personally have observed the opposite when it comes to law.

Re-upping this in light of:
1. Karti Chidambaram's tweet yesterday asking the BCCI and ICC to ban caste surnames of Indian cricketers (e.g. Shreyas Iyer and Rohit Sharma)
https://twitter.com/KartiPC/status/1721045908899725693
2. India's overwhelming dominance at the World Cup. The gap between India and other teams is just too big, so maybe consider reserving two slots for backward castes as victory is assured anyway? At least against easy opposition like the Netherlands in this cup, or in future matches against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the West Indies and Afghanistan? Simultaneously, mandate that at least 1 player in the final XI of every IPL team must be a Dalit or OBC? That way, if the concern is a "dilution" of merit, all IPL teams will be equally "diluted".
This is beyond pathetic!!!

I am a glc student I’d prefer NLUJ and NLIU even MNLUM Mumbai over GLC. GNLU just nope.
You are talking abou Glc Mumbai right?
TNNLU placements - 20 - 30 - insider info
Also, 5 of them from TNNLU got PPOs from Trilegal.
Where's TNNLU?
1. After how many months of being in this company can I switch?
2. Do you all know of any approachable people that I can reach out to on linkedin? Please give names
3. Non toxic teams that I should aim on joining?
So, my questions:-
(1) Do Law Firms also stylize their salary as CTC ?
(2) Pls mention your PQE and your salary in hand!
There's nothing more toxic than that

So, how would people in the knowhow rate Fox and Mandal's Kolkata office?(not Fox Mandal, although if you have any insight for them too please share)
What's the work quality and pay like compared to other firms in Kolkata.
Also, as a sidenote what would an objective ranking of Kolkata firms look like.
Go back to law school and read what has actual precedential value.
It was only the protest against Jose verghesse that led to his ousting as a VC overnight.
Ironically Jose vergheese is now being called by the current dispensation of the university to deliver lectures to the current students as part of its distinguished jurist programme.
