Iβm persuadable. But when I look at Israeli arguments - they acknowledge and respond to everything the other side says. I donβt like many of their answers. When it comes to you guys - you run away from questions. You donβt want to think about difficult things. Which only leads to one conclusion - this is more about virtue signalling for you than any genuine care or concern for Palestinian civilians. Youβve bought into a world view where islamophobia is rampant but anti semitism is not ( even though anti semitism was the most reported hate crime in America for years now). Youβve bought into a world view where brown people are virtuous and white people are evil colonisers- even though most 80% of Israeli Jews do not have european ancestry. And even though more brown and black people have owned other brown and black people as slaves than white people throughout world history. Youβve bought into a world view where Palestinians are good when they reject the establishment of the Israeli state and want land from river to the sea- but if Hindus reject the Muslim invasions and the partition and want akhand Bharat that is religious bigotry. Because somehow Muslims are always oppressed no ? It canβt be that their rates of poverty and low economic mobility is because they chain half of their people to the house and do not allow their women entry into public life and do not teach their children modern science. It has to be because of bigotry. Thatβs the reason.
You believe in womens rights but you think Muslim women should have to live under a regressive religious law because βthe Muslim community should reform itself β - because itβs acceptable for the state to abdicate responsibility when itβs about Muslim women. You also probably think that israel giving gay people rights is βpink washingβ but donβt care to think why
Hamas canβt simply dismantle that narrative by giving its gay citizens those same rights ? Why is the bigotry of the white man bigotry and the bigotry of the brown man βcultureβ and β religionβ? Why do white women in this world view get more protection than brown
Women ?
Why does israel not deserve credit for protecting its LGBT citizens ? Why does Hamas not get condemnation for pushing gay people off of roofs ? Donβt we want a world where theres more freedom and human rights ?
I know all this about you because I too was a leftist person who thought right wingers just lacked empathy and humanity and I too ran away from contradictions in the wisdom I received in academia and outside it. Until o stopped running away from uncomfortable questions and actually tried answering them. I assure you thereβs nothing scary about straying from the party line. It might actually make you a more fully realised human. Try it.
Personally, if you have the money, I would suggest you pursue an LLB from Oxbridge/Russel Group university in the UK either directly or after an undergrad from India (latter might save you from the ignominy of pursuing a 'Bridge Course' should you choose to/are forced to return to India, but you will have to check on that). Notwithstanding the recent visa changes that have been announced, it is much easier to obtain a UK work permit and pursue a training contract with an MC/SC/US firm in London than to start your career in the US. The option is much cheaper and a UK LLB degree is also more recognized amongst legal practitioners in India. UK firms have better global reach than do US firms, which tend to focus on a very narrow range of extremely profitable practices outside home ground, and almost exclusively in high income markets. Ergo, better mobility should you choose to move around in life.
All this is probably Greek and Latin at this stage to you, mostly because you (like most of us commentators here when we chose to pursue law) are likely to not have the slightest of clue about what commercial legal practice entails, especially on the transactional side, which is realistically your only shot at immigrating as a lawyer with an Indian passport, save for marriage or going the self-sponsored Canada route.
My suggestion thus is: read as much as you can about what financial and corporate legal practice entails (for starters, you work on transactions and not live court cases for the most part) and decide whether you want to realistically make a professional career out of that. It is dull, boring work and likely not how you imagine law to be. If, and ONLY if you are sure, should you make any study abroad arrangements. Ideally, this advice applies to anyone considering to apply for law school in today's day and age, but is obviously all the more applicable to someone who is making an investment as hefty as you are considering.
Hope you are able to make the best decision for yourself, and I wish you all the very best. :)
Is 3 Year Indian UG is eligible to apply for US JD?
As far as I know, US JD requires a 4 Years UG Education.
Convicted terrorists for one hostage. The cease fire ended when Hamas started attacking israel again. Explain what your plan is for Jewish people in the only Jewish state in the world. What should they do to not be sitting ducks ?
For hegde, tweeting and commentary is something he actually enjoys.
Coming to Nandy and Deepak, both are exactly same.
Except that they are from opposite sides of political spectrum.
Neither of them are good lawyers.
Hegde is a senior advocate.
Could somebody please list them down.
For some reason, PPS saw to be it that we never get decent fac. As replacement, she brought in recent NLUJ LLM graduates or locals from Jodhpur colleges. It was horrible.
Which palestinians accounts? The ones you saw on insta? Did you know tens of thousands of palestinians living in gaza would go into israel to work everyday on a visa before october 6th? Did you know there are arabs on the israeli supreme court and in the israeli knesset? Did you know israel pulled out of gaza completely in 2005/06? and that on october 6 it was under hamas's authority for 17 years? Explain to me why conditions in palestinian controlled gaza were so awful that so many children died without water despite hamas control of the area and overwhelming amount of humanitarian aid pouring into that place? Explain why this happens when the founders of hamas are living the millionaire life in qatar and in other parts of the world? Where did they get their money? if there was a fascist corrupt state in gaza on october 6th- i regret to inform you it wasnt israeli- it was hamas. Yeah israel blockaded them, but that seems a reasonable thing to do when your neighbor is firing rockets at you. While you're at it explain that also- how do a people come to possess more rockets and missiles than they do clean water? How many schools has hamas built since 2005/6? how many hospitals? How many tunnels?
Zero rule of law? i havent seen that at all with israel- its ridiculous to even say that thats the case. does india have zero rule of law because many of our fundamental rights only apply to citizens and not enemy combatants? Why does israel imprison the palestinians who are found stabbing jews and committing violence instead of just killing them in a firing line if there is zero rule of law? why feed and house them? why does israel trade their 3 of their convicted prisoners to one of hamas's civilian hostages if theyre so keen on committing atrocities? Doesnt seem like a state that doesnt value life no?
Go back through history- find every time including october 7th when israel has engaged in violence against hamas/plo whatever. Find me an instance where it was unprovoked. Then tell me how many of those instances were provoked? If pakistani alqaedas invaded gujarat and raped women and filmed it on go pro and kidnapped grannies and babies and held them for ransom- would you want the indian state to do nothing?
Explain why israel offered in modern history 5 deals where they gave away more hand than the palestinians have now if they were so obsessed with the tiny miserable spit of land that is gaza? Explain why the oslo accords failed. Explain why camp david summit failed. Explain why sharon pulled his people - graves and all- out of gaza if they were obsessed with territory. You can just keep repeating your received wisdom, but you really have to explain to convince others and address their points head on.
Please explain to me whether the state of israel was "massacring" palestinians before october 6th. that was the original claim made no?
If no one can stop israel- and I agree no one can stop israel- and israel has nukes and one of the strongest militaries in the world- explain to me why there are people in palestine today?
Done a masters subsequently.
Without good contacts, I don't think it is possible to get there straight out of college, but there are plenty of folks here who moved laterally directly from India.
Secondly this thread was about addressing the 99 percent predatory guys and not the miniscule girls who supposedly take advantage.
Why is it that u guys always want to make yourself the victim and the girl the criminal? Even when u and ncrb data concede otherwise?
Culturally, for personal life and Career wise - Is it worth to move to Bangalore or Chennai. Confused.
Home is far away in Patna. Impossible to work from Patna as there are no corporate law firms or sizeable in house roles there.
I am still living on rent in Mumbai. Don't have a family/single. Confused as to whether to take this step.
What is the culture like?
How is the pay?
They are hiring for Litigation and Arbitration team.
Im really confused about what to do and how to do everything ...
Don't be fooled by all the rhetoric on Israel-Palestine or same-sex marriages. NLUs are very conservative and patriarchal places. The worst elements of bro/jock culture are prevalent here and carried over to law firms after graduation. In fact, tier 1 NLUs may be the worst, because the students here have a greater sense of arrogance and entitlement.
You guys can downvote all you want, but I have stated the truth.
Anyway, there always can be counselling where fresher girls are generally told about a few red flags. These are:
- Senior guys trying to be too friendly.
- Offering help with internships and projects even though you didn't ask for it.
- Saying shit like "I am like your brother". That's creepy af.
not planning for a full- time relationship for another 2 years,
would think about marrying after at least 5 years.
you get the idea now.
Lovely: nobody is going to touch that person's elective after the two semester trauma that we had in the first year. She might be a great teacher (undoubtedly) but is not the most flexible or accommodating.
Sandeepa: largely irrelevant elective and historically gives low marks. Lose lose for students
Arup: great teacher. His enviro course was the best structured and delivered course that I have seen in my five years here. But water law? How is it relevant when the lil part of the Batch that is placed is going for Corp jobs and the unplaced majority needs good Corp credentials to get the job they desire. The way he covered even the most minor rules and regulations in enviro was commendable and I would happily take his course if he was teaching something corp based.
Vkt: his juris course was not structured in the best possible manner and his marking bell curve is also on the lower side. Not a good deal
Mouri and Sanjay Kumar: you will know why the courses were not taken if you are a noojie.
Some faculty may be really great but if their courses are not relevant why will students want to put in effort. Even the drugs course is largely irrelevant but the faculty has a great marking history. If I am not going to learn anything relevant, might as well chill and get free marks.
Nujs does need a thorough review, but to align the courses with the expectations and needs of students. Analyse why certain kinds of faculty give free marks, you'll be surprised to know the reason. Get good faculty with relevant courses and you'll see courses like drugs perish. E.g. IT Law
Also get a legitimate moderation committe and align the marking scale to the standards acceptable in foreign universities. I'm not asking that even the lowest rankers be given a first class degree but atleast get the ratios right.
Long answer: Day in and day out number of applicants in State exams and Gov Job exams is only increasing. There is no end in sight as to when this number might dip (if it does). Truth is, except for certain pockets of metro cities, majority of this country still believes that a gov job is a one step solulu to their average lives. We cannot sit in judgment if that is true (Because who knows?).
I think over time this number is eventually going to increase only and not dip. I think part of the reason people around me think that the charm is decreasing is because as we grow older we get into groups which grow apart from people who are prepping for gov exams. I have personally also lost touch with friends prepping for gov exams and hence believed that the charm is going down, but boy was I wrong.
All of this is billed to the client's account, so you'll have to give a matter code for every cab ride, meal ordered, etc. If 4 people are getting into a cab together, for example, they'll write down the fare (bumped up as a kindness to the driver) each time a person is dropped off, so the total cab fare for the night will be billed to the client as 90 + 150 + 300 + 350 even if though it was a single cab ride, not four separate ones. Even printing of documents is done with matter codes - this is billed to the client, too. Is this the norm across T1s in Mumbai? I've interned in other T1s outside Mumbai and this wasn't how things worked
At NALSAR, many years ago there was an all-out fight between Veer Singh's camp and Amita Dhanda's camp which was fought openly in the media. How about now? Any camps?
At NLUD and GLU, there haven't really much internal faculty politics AFAIK. Or am I wrong?
NUJS is notorious for faculty in-fighting since the time Ishwar Bhat took over. Are things now just as bad?
At Jindal, the Palestine issue saw an open email fight between a corp law prof (supporting Israel and opposing Hamas) and Sameena Dalwai. Even the Haryana Women's Commission chief, with whom the student had shared the emails, addressed it. So is there are ideological polarisation?
How about other law schools?
youβre making some tall claim as a title presenting it as fact, and then asking us for confirmation
Was looking for someone from around the 2010 batch, who is now flourishing.
Instead earn well. Spend on parents and yourself. Do your own household or earn enough to pay a maid. No need to take on extra burden with an unemployed wife and 21 years of kid raising, to only in the end be called a misogynist.
NLS 2008 Alum

Likely to be designated in the next few years
The 'unemployed' wife will have more than enough for food, clothing, shelter, shopping etc. But imagine an unemployed husband ? He's going to the streets the next day. Divorce? No job. You still pay.
Even a servant is doing "work" and getting paid for it. Women want to do nothing and still get paid for everything. Leeches I tell you.
Unmarried/married with or without child, a guy will still have to work, earn and pay taxes .
On the other hand, unmarried women get taken care of by parents or siblings. Married women get taken care of by husbands. Married with children, in later years get taken care of by children. Don't need to work, don't need to pay taxes, eat, sleep, live comfortably under a roof. Yet "didn't enjoy life" bs !
Just look at the divorce judgements. No work and no pay, still have to. Cause you're the MAN.
Non Nlu you see.
2. Arrange marriage still involves a choice beforehand. Go through profiles and settle for ones that won't take dowry. However the point being females still have the option to drop everything and stay at home. Men do not. Whether you suffer, fail or can't make it in life you will still have to "pay". Look at alimony claims. No work, no pay, yet the man has to pay matrimonial dues, even to the point of infidelity by women.
3. Not a fan of that stupid baldy. But the truth is, even if you're housewife mum didn't enjoy life, she could still sustain herself without working one day. Tell me a place where a househusband will be given the same due respect by society? Even his own family will think he's a cuck. The truth is married women still have the 'privilege' to pursue education or job after marriage condition to husband's approval. However, that point doesn't even exist for men. They will at any cost have to work if married. They can't afford to sit at home and play house husband.
This explains why state NLUs are lining up to sign MOUs with NFSU, and starting to offer courses covering forensic science (e.g., WBNUJS' School of Forensic Science and the new BSc-LLB and MSc programs). Others include NLUD, HPNLU, MNLUM, and MNLUA's MA in Law and Forensic Science. NFSU is the bellwether.
yes, if you look and work towards looking a certain way. Like shave all your body and face hair. Be chubby. Do not be muscular. (I have gyno so that helps lol). Shape your eyebrows. Use some makeup (not over the board). Have a little messy hair. Walk around...
There will be bound to be advances. If you are truly gay, you know how to catch the look. Most (99%) men (and women) are bisexual to a degree, but there is a lot of stigma around the fact, especially seniors.
But just engage in conversation and there will be subtle hints "do you want to discuss over coffee at (away from office)". "I live in this place and what about you". "I feel so lonely after my (someone) left me...etc personal details." Then pop the question.
Have recently gone on dates with multiple PAs and Partners which almost always......you know
If you were male
1. You wouldnt be sexually harassed everyday
2. You wouldnt be pressured from 19 yrs old to get married (a.k.a. become a servant and sex doll)
3. You would be known for your merit and not looks. Because most men are just obnoxious and make sexual advances without any knowledge of consent.
If those advances are accepted- You are a slut and will remain in your plum post without any respect at the mercy of the man.
If those advances are rejected- You will be humiliated, ghosted and treated like shit by the man
Result- Your career is fucked and its your fault.
if you are a man, its your merit and none of this bs.
4. you wouldnt be pressured by your spouse to become a free servant at home and then be called jobless and "bimbos" by men like you on LI.
the list goes on. Dont worry sir. The women centric laws are on paper. please visit a local court to know how many rape accused get sent to prison/ how much alimony is actually paid by abusive husbands/ the cross examination of marital abuse victims just to get a damn divorce (the injuries very much visible and horrendous).
Then maybe advise this woman to be independent and strong and not become a servant and sex doll

Gnlooo people are the worst people to work with in any manner possible, Gnloo people are good at PR
Took me a long time to convince her to marry me. She was mindful (for obvious reasons) that things will change. Have been holding the fort so far, to her liking - never made her feel any different from our dating days. Wish me luck. (Since I married her, she is out of the group I guess.)
(I am a Partner at a T1. She too works in another T1)
do you think when they approached these women it was through care and concern and welcome? no. It was preying on a freshers lack of certainty. theres always some ragging or "postive interaction" type situation involved with the guy or his friends. and please dont let anyone fool you that these boys are legal geniuses who write projects in exchange for sex. because a) as the women in their batch who looked at these boys and rejected them would attest- they're not something special. b) what kind of pathetic person wants a relationship thats that transactional? wheres your sense of self respect? even if a fresher "wants to take advantage of you" where is your self worth? oh its in the gutter cause you cant wait to prove to your little buddies how much of a man you are? that sounds healthy.
if these boys were legal geniuses- they would just focus on cultivating that genius and getting jobs and accolades rather than this stuff. You know why women like men who do their own thing and win shit? because shes hoping hes independent and driven and she wants an equal in a partner. You know what happens when a man starts a transactional relationship with a junior girl? she eventually leaves him for someone better once she develops some confidence.
I knew a guy in college- he made twenty of his senior friends line up outside the freshers room to ask her out. These were people who were ragging her the previous night. Of course she said yes and then she dumped him up real nice a few months later and went on to be a super star. How pathetic do you have to be that asking someone on a date requires twenty bodyguards for you? how predatory!
then there were cases of abuse and physical harm and beating her up like a bag of sand, and the girl on freshers who passed out from too much alcohol who only avoided getting raped because there were three seniors who wanted to rape her all in a mexican stand off.
What can be done about it is teaching folks in law school that relationships arent freaking status markers to be achieved when you cannot get a good gpa or win a moot. That you should actually feel a connection to another living human being and want to nurture that connection. Stop treating each other like sacks of meat and develop some self respect. and sex is not "cool" literally most older people in the world have had it including all your older relatives. Its just your hormones telling you that this is some sort of exclusive club to get into. Youd be better off waiting until you find someone who actually connect with and have a good relationship with.
and fresher girls: theres a reason none of the women in his batch who have known him for at least a year, possibly several years, wants to date him. Its probably because hes not a "stud", and its probably not because he hasnt tried. You not special. Chill- figure out what you really like about him first.
I couldnβt convert them into a PPO.
Uni gets over in less than 6 months. Helppp!
As someone really interested in the Banking & Finance vertical and willing to settle in Delhi.
What are some good options for B&F in Delhi?
Is SNG & Partners, Delhi worth a try? B&F perspective.
- I am a guy (P at T1)
I am a seniorish senior associate. While I donβt care about recognition so much, does it make sense to pay for these paid awards or should I just continue to put my head down and work hard to get these credible recognitions. Thoughts welcome.
And yes, there is women reservation in services.
