We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Just wondering if y'all agree with this comment and how prevalent it is across NLUs? Are such cases underreported because girls are afraid or ashamed to come out? Also, what can be done to prevent it? Counselling? Disciplinary action?
In our college they have to put out mails that fresher dates don't mean u actually date them so many people continue to message lewd things. When the girls reject them they are slutshamed.
Selfless love.
I concede that there are actual innocent girls who get gaslighted by predatory seniors but they are a minority whose case you generalize to explain the situation, which isn't the case, in reality.
do you think when they approached these women it was through care and concern and welcome? no. It was preying on a freshers lack of certainty. theres always some ragging or "postive interaction" type situation involved with the guy or his friends. and please dont let anyone fool you that these boys are legal geniuses who write projects in exchange for sex. because a) as the women in their batch who looked at these boys and rejected them would attest- they're not something special. b) what kind of pathetic person wants a relationship thats that transactional? wheres your sense of self respect? even if a fresher "wants to take advantage of you" where is your self worth? oh its in the gutter cause you cant wait to prove to your little buddies how much of a man you are? that sounds healthy.
if these boys were legal geniuses- they would just focus on cultivating that genius and getting jobs and accolades rather than this stuff. You know why women like men who do their own thing and win shit? because shes hoping hes independent and driven and she wants an equal in a partner. You know what happens when a man starts a transactional relationship with a junior girl? she eventually leaves him for someone better once she develops some confidence.
I knew a guy in college- he made twenty of his senior friends line up outside the freshers room to ask her out. These were people who were ragging her the previous night. Of course she said yes and then she dumped him up real nice a few months later and went on to be a super star. How pathetic do you have to be that asking someone on a date requires twenty bodyguards for you? how predatory!
then there were cases of abuse and physical harm and beating her up like a bag of sand, and the girl on freshers who passed out from too much alcohol who only avoided getting raped because there were three seniors who wanted to rape her all in a mexican stand off.
What can be done about it is teaching folks in law school that relationships arent freaking status markers to be achieved when you cannot get a good gpa or win a moot. That you should actually feel a connection to another living human being and want to nurture that connection. Stop treating each other like sacks of meat and develop some self respect. and sex is not "cool" literally most older people in the world have had it including all your older relatives. Its just your hormones telling you that this is some sort of exclusive club to get into. Youd be better off waiting until you find someone who actually connect with and have a good relationship with.
and fresher girls: theres a reason none of the women in his batch who have known him for at least a year, possibly several years, wants to date him. Its probably because hes not a "stud", and its probably not because he hasnt tried. You not special. Chill- figure out what you really like about him first.
Anyway, there always can be counselling where fresher girls are generally told about a few red flags. These are:
- Senior guys trying to be too friendly.
- Offering help with internships and projects even though you didn't ask for it.
- Saying shit like "I am like your brother". That's creepy af.
Secondly this thread was about addressing the 99 percent predatory guys and not the miniscule girls who supposedly take advantage.
Why is it that u guys always want to make yourself the victim and the girl the criminal? Even when u and ncrb data concede otherwise?
Don't be fooled by all the rhetoric on Israel-Palestine or same-sex marriages. NLUs are very conservative and patriarchal places. The worst elements of bro/jock culture are prevalent here and carried over to law firms after graduation. In fact, tier 1 NLUs may be the worst, because the students here have a greater sense of arrogance and entitlement.
You guys can downvote all you want, but I have stated the truth.
So yes, all this leftist human rights shit these people do is just a facade.
