Ladies and gentlemen, since we are not having a leaderboard anytime soon from LI (and it’s mods), I have decided to start a comparative discussion and series on several tier-1 NLUs and top private universities. This will be a healthy comparative series and it will follow a deliberation on usually two colleges to explore the ‘FUN’ banter. Kindly keep this space non-toxic and the every comparative series will have the code-name ‘The tier-1’ saga in it. To avoid repetition and hatred, a discussion/comparison will be conducted only once a week. This will keep the competitive attitude among tier-1 colleges alive in LI and will also maintain this saga’s anonymous nature.
Note from Mod: - This should not turn into a traditional LI battleground where the alumni usually rip each other’s head off. Kindly keep it civil and polite. If we see any distortion in regard to your ‘positive comparison’, we will not allow that post to exist in the first place. Thank you.
Most of it is done by existing students and not alum, who can't care less where their professional peers are from so long as they are okay to work with or against.
There is nothing to compare, really. NLUD is miles ahead of all other NLUs in the country now, and if the others want to learn from our best practices, then that's okay, but those state law colleges don't really have much for us to learn from. Nothing personal, they are the past, we are the present and future.
Hey, can any person from nls answer these (preferably a first year) two doubts (it'd be really helpful to some of us making the decision between two colleges or some future aspirants battling the same thought)
Due to the 240 batch size that came with your batch, do you find the competition to moot or any other activity has increased massively? Compared to what you hear from people in other law schools?
Also, are moots/extracurriculars funded in nls? (I know they are in nlud, about 50% or more sometimes but have no idea about nls), thanks in advance!
To answer your first question, you must keep in mind not everyone from 240 people participate in uni rounds. And even among who do register for uni moots, etc many don't put much effort or just don't submit memo. i would say around 2/3rd of people actually submit memo/nego plan to even be in the race.
And yea, moots, adr competition, and debates are funded(not sure about quizzes, they've changed some funding policies and have expanded the funding for other activities, so will have to check if it comes under it).
Would have but the no hostel for Delhi (ncr included) residents policy is a huge deterrent. Home is like 90 minutes away and PG is not a viable option too
When the Indian government has prepared an official rank list through NIRF, what is the need for such discussions? You have an official government list of the best NLUs sorted by rank. End of.
Mods kindly feature it.
