We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I'm an enrolled student of DU, graduated from a tier-1 Uni,
3years of horseshit is what you can expect from here. Yes, our mode of studying is a bit better because of our intense focus on case-mat (original judgements of cases) litigation and govt job-centric approach of the faculty( obsessed with judiciary exams)
when it comes to our examination it's like playing a roulette( no one fucking knows what will happen) YOU CAN SHOVE YOUR PROFOUND WISDOM OF LAW UP YOUR ASS!
NO INTERNALS
NO BARE ACTS ALLOWED
NO HOLIDAY
NO FOLLOWING SOME BOOK
YOU CAN'T ASK FOR REVAL HERE!
If you are hell-bent on taking up litigation after 3 years, go for DU, eyes closed, if you study diligently you will do okay at court.
Also, Marks is the primary reason why DU ppl are sort of ******** when it comes to Corporate jobs.
I need mentors

If you can’t help such people out then the least you can do it refrain from doing shit like this and posting AZB everywhere. You are not cool buddy, no one even laughs on this anymore. It’s just sad that you have time and mind to do all this.
I loved the work and the exposure. I didn't like the people. I had a beyond traumatic experience with the partners and it got me thinking that if this is the situation I face today, few years down the line it'll be even more difficult to take a stand for myself or switch to a practice area.
So I'm looking to do some transactions or M&A, PE-VC.
Can someone please give me tips on how to make the transition and firms that might be open to accepting me and offering me a role?
See I don't have anything planned as such for the next 6 months and would love if you all can suggest me a few things to do. That being said, I do have a rough idea of things which I wanna invest my time in-
1. Going through and maybe covering a good chunk of the first sem syllabus.
2. Reading moot memorials from quality sources and learning from them.
3. Mhcet prep (A short prep of around 20 days or so. No offence to GLC and ILS)
4. Improving my spoken english and communication skills (idk how but will figure that out)
Yeah that's all!
Ofc I will be working on non-academic stuff too but I don't wanna share that on LI.
I’m joining a T1 in Mumbai later this year as an A0. The office would be in Lower Parel.
Where do people usually live, any suggestions for areas which aren’t far off/have direct connectivity and which don’t have insane rent? I’m not really willing to exceed beyond 35k, for more than that it’s a bit jarring when I think that half of what I’ll be working for every month would just be to have a roof over my head. I’ve been doing some online research and my North Indian brain cannot comprehend the places I’m seeing and the prices they go for.
Any other suggestions or tips for a newbie or something which I should avoid? Feel free to rank.
Also how difficult is it to get accepted?
I just got to know there are sections in nlsiu because of 300 students.
My question is are there sections of class in nalsar too? And what are it,s pros and cons .
Happy to help as a final year student.
As for the comment below, I am considered fair skinned by Indian demographic standards, not that I give a damn about it or ever will. People who do that are uncultured, uneducated and displaying bad upbringing, no matter their pedigree or identity.
2. That still means no admission test. Admission test is when the university conducts or participates in one. This way, even a CLAT rank 50000 may make it.
assuming i make it to nls, is it even worth it? i know mnlu is a very unpopular choice here but when i graduate i'll be the tenth batch so will placement situation get better by then (obviously not predictable) but how much will mnlu help me in my growth?
Day zero - a little bleak, t2 firms preferred taking in assetment interns over handing offers, t-1s: lower number of people taken as compared to last year
This is the way, you're not doing anything wrong. Just one feedback - don't get entitled as ~8 months by 3rd year is not alot lot. Followed the same path as you but still had difficulty landing in a t-1 (with close to 1.5yrs of internships in t-2s)

How useful is the SET if I do not have a particular state I am interested to teach in ?
I'm giving the NET primarily for the JRF to fund my PhD. SET does not have any fellowship. NET would obviously be preferred over a SET candidate in colleges. Once NET cleared, it is applicable all over India. Whereas a SET limits one to a particular state.
Should I invest time and money on SET exams ? Or just focus 100% on NET ?
"There is no admission test." Well, the selection is through CLAT (50% seats) and IPMAT (50% seats). There you go.
This platform is used to spread lies about non-NLU institutions, obviously for vested interests.

We need a middle ground. Be a feminist but make compromises, as Seema Aunty says.
Also, seriously contemplating leaving commercial litigation in favour of either policy work or just do an MBA and get into marketting (I know quite a bit about digital marketting, designing etc.).

1. Envy. How can INIs offer law programs, while NLUs continue languishing as state entities?
2. Eliminate competition (while secretly applying for such programs)
"Due on the basis of return filed" qualifies increases the refund, not 'results in refund'.
The point is arguable but if you have genuine and valid reasons for non filing, then going the 119 plus writ route is better. HCs can be sympathetic if the facts are with you, and cbdt unquestionably has the power (they won't exercise, hence writ after they reject). If you try to argue the law point that it is not covered under clause (c), you have far less going for you (courts are rightly concerned bout the consequences of a legal interpretation to be more conservative if relief requires creativity in interrpetation, than if they can give relief on the facts without deciding larger issues)
