AGRA: A 25-year-old woman, who was reportedly gang-raped at a homestay in Agra in November 11, was forced to sign "compromise documents" and subsequently thrown out of a speeding car on Sunday. She was discovered lying unconscious on the road, police said.

According to the police, the survivor recounted that she was invited for a meeting by a friend at a restaurant on Sunday, during which her drink was spiked. Subsequently, she was coerced into signing a compromise letter in favour of the gang-rape accused, currently incarcerated. Following this, she was ejected from a moving car.

DCP Suraj Kumar Rai stated on Monday, "The woman was taken to the hospital for a medical examination and further treatment. She was unable to communicate effectively. An FIR will be registered soon, and appropriate action will be taken based on the received complaint."

The woman had been employed at a guesthouse for 18 months. Five individuals, including the manager, were recently apprehended and incarcerated, according to the police.

Earlier, distressing videos, purportedly featuring the woman, circulated online, where she could be seen crying and pleading: "I have four daughters; they are all very young. Please save me. See what they did to me" (pointing to her torn clothes).

It is too frustrating. I have been applying to places for quite sometime now. I have quality internship experiences but all of it seems to count not worth even for an assessment. I am ready to slog my way and am sending applications in every direction, but to no avail. Am I the only one here? Plz suggest what else could be done?

To be fair, their language is only suggestive and predicated on biological realities. No need to create unnecessary drama. As a woman it would be important to know that by 30 you lose 90% of your eggs and by 40 you only have 3% of what you were born with. Procreation was given as an option amongst many others.

As someone who has been a guest faculty to that place, I can vouch for the fact that the student quality is quite good and at par with the leading NLUs. The academic infra is lacking, with a frugal library collection and no database that the NLUs take for granted these days, as are facilities within and around the campus, despite the students paying a fee as steep as 6LPA. They are planning to shift the law school to Noida sometime soon though, maybe things will improve after that.

As of now, there are very limited firms which do aviation leasing and finance work. AZB, Wadia Gandhy, KLA, RNC, DMD, Tyabji Dayabhai. Out of these, I have seen a handful of them on the opposite side. Pay scales will differ due to tier but some of them have interesting work. Wait for a couple of years before this sector as a practice will blossom. If you want to really be in the thick of things, consider London or Singapore as all aviation work originates in London and Singapore firms.

More courses. In the pre-Sudhir era when there were no electives (and only 5th year seminars), this meant that there were way more courses that were mandatory. One couldn't lighten the load by picking easier courses. That was also why 5th year was considered the ultimate chilling year in Law School (most people got jobs by 3rd trimester of 4th year).

Trimester in law school is bad idea as law is 5 year long programme.

Trimester system is fine in one year masters or Executive MBA type of degrees where you have to do a lot in very limited time.

Semester system is better for 5 year law degree. It gives time for internships and breaks.

All NLUs except NLS and NLIU follow semester system. All other universities follow semester system.

These two colleges should correct their academic calendar for once and ever.

The trimester system has got no benefit. It forces the students to be constantly "doing" something and (as is clear from other comments) in India if you not doing something, you will be seen as lazy. Education is not just about doing, it is also a time to learn "thinking" and "discovering". The trimester system does not allow that and in India "thinking" is seen as doing nothing - without realizing that thinking is the greatest skill a student can acquire. The ability to think and think well is priceless.

I believe that it pushes you to respect deadlines and not be lazy. We have deadlines almost every week and there are heavy penalties for missing one (can even get zero). So, it kind of prepares you for the professional world. Other than this, there is not much benefit to this.

So, a friend of mine from law college joined SEBI (general) as asst manager and now is a assistant general manager (agm).

If you’re a guy you shouldn’t panic. There’s enough time. If you’re a girl then you can perhaps set yourself a 2-3 year target, the reason purely being a biological one. Alternatively, as a girl, you can wait even till 40-45, if you don’t want kids, or if you are open to adoption, or if you are open to freezing your eggs (subject to medical opinion). In fact, a successful lady partner at a top law firm has opted for egg freezing and done a podcast about it, to spread awareness about it.

Wherever you do, don’t rush. Also consider dating apps as an option as well. Also, one pool you can consider looking into is that of court advocates, who often settle down later because they take time to establish themselves and become financially secure. You will lots of singletons in your age group there.

Pretty decent bunch of folks. High retention rate due to good payout, learning, independence with reasonably okay wlb. Do check with your alumni working there. Funds has a huge extension of related practice areas so come out of a misnomer that it is niche. People who have not done it tag it as such whereas its a forever booming wide practice area. No wonder, that Funds lawyers are always in high demand regardless of the overall legal market or

economic conditions. Speak to any headhunter and you will get the above verified in toto.

I'll just speak on GST since I am in it & yes I do compliance work since that's how I get clients initially. Barring 2A-3B notices & 16(4) it is difficult to see really heavy litigation in the future. In the past issues like classification l, valuation etc. were taken up post department audits. These days automation and digitization means notices are (near) automatically generated on a comparison of two data points like say e-way bill & 3B, 2A-3b etc. given the level of automation and standardization it is difficult to see whether GST will generate the same level of litigation like the erstwhile laws.

Hi. this is a slightly difficult question to give a straightforward answer. the best that I can do is offer some points to keep in mind :

1. recruitments to faculty positions dont follow any national pattern yet. Some of the top NLUs have started specifically advertising for specialisations. it is not clear from the regulations or the advertisements that they consider a specialised LL.M to be a must have qualification to meet the requirements of specialisation. I mean, its perfectly possible that a persons work experience and publications can meet that requirement.

2. a general LL.M is most often better, because you can pick electives in the combinations that you wish to pursue. often this is better from a long term perspective as you can come up with combinations that meets your interests, especially the future research interests.

3. that being said, the institution from which you got your degree tends to have some weightage. For example, an LL.M in Human Rights from NLS looks better than am LL.M in corporate law from MNLU (or an institution like that).

4.It is always better to chose an institution with better faculty and learning exposure than the specialisation that you are looking for. TO illustrate, NUJS might offer a specialisation in IPR which you are interested in. But NUJS does not have any good faculty or learning environment and hence NALSAR which may not offer an IPR specialisation is a better bet.

Isn't this amusing? This platform ridicules anyone going for an LLM and PhD in Law saying that they don't matter. LLM students are the butt of jokes among LLB students, and there are more than enough posts dissuading aspirants from pursuing LLM. They are looked down upon. Yet LLB students ask for good faculty and whine when they aren't available. Will the faculty come from another planet? LLB students do not even realize the consequences of their actions. Such behavior comes back to bite them as in the case above. Toppers should be encouraged to pursue higher studies, and those pursuing should be respected and rewarded - only then the universities will get good faculty.

I couple of months ago I gave interview for a high-end PE/VC firm and didn't make the cut. Today, I checked out that the person who was hired for the position I was interviewing was almost 3 years senior to me, from reputable law school and with slew of tier firm internships and had work ex of around 2 years in a T2 law firm. I felt solace that I being a completely freshers in this field with no illustrious name behind me made it this far, but should it be a full-stop to my story chasing big names? Do I really stand a chance against these heavyweights?
