NLUs and NLUs graduate have already captured most of the corporate market, soon even traditional family owned law firms will die.
Now that litigation business is under threat expect more cabal judges like him to criticise NLUs and other meritocratic institutions, that are not controlled.
Wondering what teams/firms are offering assessment internship opportunities, specifically in the TMT field. Let me know if you have any ideas or leads. thank you
Also, are there no non-solicitation contracts that partners sign?
And I'm sick and tired of his constant preaching about NLUs teaching in English only. Let him deliver judgements in Hindi and then talk.
If only these bootlickers had the grip to stand up for themselves.
I am from Bombay and can share some insight about the city, especially the HC scene. Bombay market is oversaturated, and dare I say, overrated. You cannot survive without a jack in the form of an entire family, or at least a family member deeply established in the city's legal scene. Even if your jack doesn't have a roaring practice, but is socially known, it'll help. Otherwise the Bombay scene treats juniors worse than office boys. You'll be paid lesser than an office-boy/ filing clerk if you join some senior. Seniors (by experience, not by designation alone) pass on their briefs to their kids, NOT to juniors. If the kids/ nephews-nieces havevnot yet joined they Bar, they hoard matters drafted by juniors like dragon's gold. Some seniors will make you draft matters from scratch, and won't even let you be in the well with them, forget joint Vakalatnamas. Effectively, you're drafting matters for the undeserving successors-in-waiting of the oldies. Clients gravitate towards those pepper-salt boomers, even if YOU have seen how these boomers are grossly underprepared.
'Twas a mess as to which senior were you referring to, as in your senior/ friend or that senior's (friend's) senior. If you're an introvert, chuck litigation. You'll fail miserably given your non-existent background in the legal profession.

Always better to shift to rising starups and fancy in houses than PE roles. Ample in house opportunities if you're not hellbent on moving PE.

Example 1: She and her mom insulted Jaspal Rana, a legendary shooter himself, and ruined his career. Rana said yesterday that he has been blacklisted for the past few years and without a job.

Example 2: She tried boarding an Air India flight with her guns without the necessary paperwork and without paying the special baggage fee for carrying guns. When Air India asked her to pay at the airport, she kicked up a big fuss. She tweeted, tagging a bunch of Modi government ministers, accusing Air India of asking her for a “bribe”. Kiren Rijuju promptly sorted out the paperwork and politely said that no bribe was sought. What he actually should have done is reprimanded her. Meanwhile, many sportspersons tweeted in favour of Air India.

Example 3: The Haryana government promised to pay her 2 crores. She tweeted that she only got 10 lakh and accused the minister of doing jumla. The minister replied that the money would be paid in instalments and she should have checked first before tweeting. The government did eventually pay that 2 cr and the central government also gave her a lot of support.

People are tweeting how Manu is humble despite her success and good looks, but history shows the opposite . Of course, she now says that she has become calmer after reading the Gita and I hope for her own sake that’s true.
Had emailed them last week they said we will let you know the results in 2 weeks. 2 weeks are almost up and they are deciding who goes for AC also. So if we haven’t heard back till now should we consider it a rejection?
A lot of you guys are gonna figure this one out real real hard.
A1 - 30 lakhs
A2 - 40 lakhs
A3 - 50 lakhs
SA1 - 65 lakhs
SA2 - 75 lakhs
PA1 - 90 lakhs
PA2 - 1.05 crores
Counsel - 1.25 crores
Salary partner - 1.6 - 2.8 crores
I propose all lawyers regardless of level of seniority deserve 8-10% of their billings. JSA already does this.
Given the inflation and no tax relief for middle class, we should demand these pay bands. US and UK firms have been increasing salaries and it is time Indian firms levelled up.
Basic perks firms should provide - good laptops with an upgrade every 2 years, iPhone, business class travel and 5 star hotel when travelling, 2 days WFH per week, an allowance to set up a home office including desktop, printer and scanner, annual offsites even if they include training and mentorship sessions, breakfast, lunch and dinner in office, cabs after 8 pm regardless of gender, menstrual leave for women, a sign on bonus of 1 month’s salary especially for freshers to be able to relocate and buy office wear, bank tie ups for a decent credit card, a car leasing program, compulsory paid time off where your system gets locked and on site counselling.
All these were provided by one firm or the other over the years and have got diluted. Most corporates provide these perks as well.
Please share this post widely so that it reaches the managing partners. If we demand these in unison, maybe things will change for better.
Hopefully that helps.

Feel so sorry for her and her family. Such a calm and dignified lady. Obviously from a family like all of our families --- educated and upper middle-class, but not the super rich who can buy the police.. This could literally happen to any of us! Action must be taken against the police for ignoring the real culprits and harassing an innocent man, whose taxes fund these corrupt clowns!
The question now is: who will hire people wishing to work at Indus' Capital Markets?
Anjali Menon, Mansi Jhaveri, and Neha Balodhi are the three Principal Associates listed on their website. Have these PAs also departed with the large group, or are they staying with Indus to potentially become partners?
Please share any information you may have about this. It is important for me to know as soon as possible.

Nice. So that means you're not gonna address the problems of NLUs? You are Chancellor of NSLIU, NUJS and GNLU. What have you done for them? How man y visits to Jindal and how many to these places?
Or 0.2% if you draft value in agreement
Bar Councils of Delhi, Odisha, Punjab & Haryana have issued notices putting stop on new enrolments till further directions from BCI.
Nevertheless, can this "not the entire picture" be true for some in T-1 law firms? There is so much written about no WLB, long working hours, toxicity, etc. in T1s. But is there anyone who has been there for a few years and thinks that posts in LI didn't portray the entire picture, at least for the person concerned? Someone who got most of the weekends off in a year, who mostly had to work about 10 hours a day or less, who managed to start a family and spend time to nurture it, who exercised regularly, and who was able to maintain decent health?
It is not the fault of LI. I guess there is only so much LI, or "words," can convey. You have to really go out and experience it for yourself. But if you have witnessed something good or at least "not bad" about your job, then please share. Though I have heard many money-minting engineers groan about the hectic work culture, yet there are a good number of engineers with the same pay who say their job is doable; working on weekends for many of them is not even a thing, and average work hours are about 10 and, on a few days, much less. Above all, they are happy with their jobs. I hardly see an associate here on LI who echoes the same.
Apparently Sequoia had analyst program for lawyers, but they have discontinued that now. But generally these in-house roles seem to be for 4 years+ work experience.
I’ve even contacted some lawyer folks who shared their HR email ID, but the HR don’t respond.
Small fish in big pond? Or big fish in small pond? Both has its advantages and disadvantages. But depends - what do you want to be?
I mean how would a firm with a Managing Partner who's know known outside of Delhi be expected to do? The family thought they had a saviour - someone who could steady the ship - mark my words, in 3 years he will abandon the ship and then the family will realise what disservice they've done to RKL's legacy!
Btw which teams are good in BLR
If joining a BIG Law firm is considered winning and is the ultimate aim of NLU graduates, then their ambitions are pitiable and laughable.
Again, I'm glad other NLUs didn't make the "cut", for what a waste it would be.
A Big Law / Law firm recruitment is essentially the WITCH equivalent of law.
I mean i understand that it is, because of astronomical and insane fees these "government" run colleges charge and the non existent pay in other sectors. It leaves many no choice but to join these sweatshops, i know, because i was in one for many many years.
Essentially, an NLU Grad is an easy and cheap resource for these firms (not just CAM or T1s). Its sad when our nation could use these bright minds for so many more things, but they're spent in drudgery of toxic work environments drafting repetitive shit.
Most likely they will scale down hiring considerably given the huge loss of revenue they have to recover from.
What does the Disputes Team's work profile look like? Is it like any other law firm's disputes practice, or do they have a specific niche in arbitration? I ask because of the work profile of the partner they onboarded in April.
Also, what's the PPO process like? Is it a standard callback/assesment internship and then interviews, or do they sometimes confirm PPOs in a single internship?
I’m in disputes team of a T1 in Max Towers. My partner is downright uncouth and ill spoken. While the normal bc mc to clients before and after the calls is a norm, he also calls and starts blasting if ‘he doesn’t understand’ something in the draft or the query. He’ll do so even on a difference in opinion (as opposed to difference on facts). He also had an outburst in court a couple of weeks back.
Planning to confront him in with this logic itself. Has anyone else confronted their partners in similar situations?
OP, are you sure you've quoted the right figure? If that's true, Can't decide who's the bigger loser, your senior friend who accepts less than what maids or drivers in Mumbai make, or that penniless senior who has no shame paying that to his/ her junior.
15K per month sounds standard for a fresher. Get going, don't delay enrollment
If possible, smack that friend of yours or dunk his head in water so that the poor bloke wakes up. He'll thank you later

And this is exactly why India should not host the Olympics. China wins 5-6 golds EVERY DAY at the Olympics
Also, how can I switch?
