I was hoping to get some advice on how to prepare for the interview. For starters, I'm reading up on everything that I've mentioned on my CV. What else should I do?
Thank you!
I have heard that some M&A teams are comparatively better.
Can anyone name em?

I think we should focus on the individual depravity of this firm, in the way it creates a holocaust for its associates to be gassed everyday. In the worst times during covid, the management displayed extreme apathy and ruthlessness. Their work drafts are very questionable and any corporate institution needing their work done will not approach this firm unless there is something underhand to be done. Most people in the fraternity denote it in that light after the raids . Their partners have copied off drafts from sister firms and created legal opinions. Just read THE Memo. They created a marriage alliance with a client and even created a whole building doing work exclusive to that client. They are so desperate for clients at all levels in most practices.
Also in hiring practices, they create a mirage of meritocracy by selecting the creamier cream of the top NLUs but then offer PPOs to the sons and daughters of the surnames we hear everyday, mostly aligned with the present ruling dispensation. They have literally told the last batch interns that they need not expect PPOs, at the END of their internship tenures and sent them off with a 10k excuse of a fair pay.
So this Dussehra, dear students, beware of such firms. They play with your emotions with glamour and fabulous marketing and then make you wage slaves behind a surname that only the daddy deserved and the kids have ripped apart. Read between the lines. When you intern, look at how they treat their associates, clerks etc. Read those nationwide emails sent. See the language. Is 14.4 lpa worth it for that? You are a batch topper! You can join much better firms with much better pay.
Regards and Dussehra wishes,
Lawfirm anonymous.
This comment makes no allegation nor refers to any specific corporate body or law firm. Any such references are purely fictional (like your sanity after working here.)
He said he doens't want to say.
Drop it.
Looking for a place that takes both civil and criminal cases at the original side.
Thanks!
I'm considering trying litigation (have very little experience) and leaving the venture, but as a first-generation, I'm not sure if it's feasible. I definitely don't want to return to a desk job at a law firm, and then, there's the issue of gap in my CV.
My peers have settled into their career paths, and I'm still figuring out if I should stick with my venture or go for the litigation. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
1. Read your memorials well. Some if not most judges have looked at them beforehand so you need to be on top of your argument.
2. Make eye contact with the judges - if there is more than one, keep switching. Observe our reactions closely - most of us are not pokerfaces and you will be able to tell if we're bored or find your argument interesting.
3. Elocute, don't read. If you merely read out your memorial it reflects rather poorly - why have an oral round then? You should have the outline of your argument in your head and only refer to the memorial or notes for support (say, a citation). It helps if you draw judges' attention to specific paragraphs or parts of the memorial - it shows us that you know your submissions.
4. Don't get flustered when you're asked questions. Practice with a friend beforehand on this. If you need a moment, ask for permission and take one - we won't pounce.
5. If you're doing a rebuttal or sur-rebuttal you need to engage with the opposite side's argument and provide a convincing response. Focus on the parts of the memorial they bring up during their oral arguments.
2) Although T1 law firms are lala setups where your attire/smell/bags/watches will be things which your peers, partners and clients will judge you for; be modest with your expenditure in your first 3 years but remember to look sharp and not shabby or loud.
3) Function like a team, help your peers out with bulky assignments, seek feedbacks and most importantly make sure the client and reporting partners notice your contribution during meetings - all of this will be factored during promotions.
4) Remember that not all your team members can be trusted as colleagues, simply stay away from office politics, bitching about people and opening up about personal details since you never know what goes against you in any given moment. In this regard, avoid too many smoke breaks and don't find an excuse to abuse alocohol in your system during team/deal closing dinners.
5) Lastly, do not ever get too close to an intern; if you know what I mean.
I would also suggest purchasing a watch abroad to get some savings, and also considering purchasing a second hand one. A used Speedmaster Pro in Japan will not cost you more than 2-3l, depending on the quality.
If your biggest motivation is clout, would suggest you splurge it on a Rolex. That will get eyeballs. If you care about quality, would highly recommend a Grand Seiko in that budget.

It is you who can't compete with them due to your high headedness and then you blame the system.
The demand for NFSU students (for internships) and graduates (PPOs and Jobs) is growing exponentially.
3legal is establishing it's competition team.
Sabiana might be hiring for 3legal.
Could you hint at which firm you are in. Will definitely apply to one that looks at factors other than contacts and partner referrals.
Amarchand brand is gone to dust what with the Mahua gate scandal highlighting bhai bhai ka dushman and SAM indirect attacks on CAM through Adani,Amarchand brand finished the day it came out how the wife of Suresh Shroff was ill treated by the CAM side of family, the Hidenburg reply being scoffed as a joke, SAM indirectly taking Chennai office employees/data from CAM.CAM and SAM - when family treats family this way, what treatment gets meted out to lawyers is openly known. Its not going to get better at these firms so people leave.
2. Practice Past Year Qs. - Some of my friends, even though well-versed in law, were not able to do well in exams because they did not attempt answer writing till they were in the exam hall. This is the gravest blunder you can possibly make.
3. Align your ideology with the professor's - Certain profs are known to scoff at answers with any hint of ideology not subscribed by them. Some of them are known to fail students on these grounds. I know for a fact a person scored 3/25 because he mentioned Chanakya in the political theory exam.
If not T1, then hella good pay!
Anyways, if your job allows you to have your own time and if you like the job too, then its the most you can get. The extra 2 lacs wont be worth it, trust me.
I'll also say what I wish I could tell my younger self. Do not talk to them every time one of them is angry or upset. Do it at a fixed time on a fixed day. Be firm about not discussing things that distress you and should not be your problem as their child. You are not their friend or sibling. They should not be dumping this on you. You may have to block or mute texts and draw other lines that are really hard but it will help you move your attention away from this. Try to see a counsellor and to do other things that will support you through the grief of what might happen. Above everything. This is not your fault. You are not responsible for any part of it. You are just standing in an earthquake so you need to find shelter not try to stop it from happening.
The only exception is if it is physical violence and the parent suffering doesn't have the financial capacity to exit the situation. But even that, they will need to decide to exit before you can help them. All you can do is offer to take care of them after they decide.
Do watch it fully :)

Now Iβve been saving up for a good watch for 15-18 months. If that means 6L for an Omega, it is what it is. In any case, these watches are also investments that appreciate in value. Plus the added bragging rights, and the respect itβll attract from seniors and clients.
I can provide further credentials if you ping me at - lawworkopp@proton.me
I am open to Research Assistantships, Ghostwriting, and long-term internships.
PS - I don't indulge in substances, so my motivation is merely sustenance, financing internship expenses, and travelling for moots.
Do it and congratulations!

Here they are asking you not to follow up and look for other options, but if some vacancy crops up, they will contact you! They consider you as a borderline candidate that's it!
Law firm owners ARE entrepreneurs and business owners, but a) such businesses are difficult to scale because you are still selling time which is limited, even if you are selling associates time and b) law firms are pretty small businesses anyway in the scale of things. Even the largest law firms will barely qualify as medium sized companies by number of employees.
2024 Parliamentary Election
Per the modified rules, the host of 2036 Summer Olympics ("the Games") shall be selected in mid 2025, post 2024 General Elections in India. Any bid by India for the Games, depends upon the outcome of the 2024 General Elections. If BJP loses and Congress led alliance comes to the power, there won't be any bidding by India for the Games.
Return of BJP
In case Narendra Modi led BJP returns to the power, Ahmedabad would be the first preference of the incumbent government to bid for the Games. Construction work of Olympic village has already started in Ahmedabad, which is required (basic infra) to justify the bid by the city before the IOC Olympic Committee.
Joint Bid - Ahmedabad & Noida
As mentioned earlier, IOC has modified its rules by changing the host from a single city/region/country to multiple cities, regions, or countries.
Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh which includes Noida, Greater Noida and YEIDA, could emerge as a strong contender for the Games. Yogi Adityanath led UP Government has recently announced construction of an Olympic city near the upcoming Noida Airport. A sports cluster of 29 Stadiums and residences for 5000 Olympic participants will set it apart from other possible city venues. Noida already has a world class sporting arena viz. Budha International Circuit for hosting F1/ Moto GP races. Further, Noida/ G.Noida has one of the best existing civic infrastructures among all Indian cities. (1. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/noida/olympic-park-to-come-up-near-noida-airport/articleshow/103675225.cms?from=mdr 2. *https://www.timesnownews.com/delhi/noida-to-get-world-class-olympic-park-with-29-stadiums-5000-housing-units-article-103695356*)
Both Ahmedabad and Noida fall under the jurisdiction of BJP led governments and both the cities will have a supporting infrastructure that is required to host the Games. Considering all the aforementioned reasons, a joint bid by Ahmedabad and Noida cannot be ruled out.
Other Contenders
The modification of IOC Charter in a haste and rapid selection of Brisbane as the host of 2032 Summer Olympics has blindsided many countries, including Qatar, Germany, Hungary and Indonesia, which were also willing to host 2032 Games. These countries will certainly bid for the Games. Hence the path leading to the hosting rights for the Games won't be easy for India.

Now, Dehadrai alleges in his police complaint of 19 October (below) that he bought the dog and was given the Kennel Club certificate.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F8y4195XYAAyAVN.jpg
If this is true, then the dog is his property. But we can see from the videos Mahua uploaded that she loves Henry very much. So should the law treat dogs as similar to children and allow sharing of custody? How can court do so? By giving fundamental rights to dogs that trump the Kennel Club rules? Wouldn't that be judicial overreach?
A degree from a Top NLU used to guarantee a job or atleast help with getting a t1 law firm job 5-7 years back. The same is not true anymore, as law firms are beginning to rot with incompetent partners, hiring though contacts culture, (NLUO example above), Internships being closed to contacts or those with certain backgrounds, very ill informed and lazy HR practices, extremely toxic culture of law firms with no humanity left, but not paying adequately, resulting in clients realising unethical practices in billing promoting them to shift to in house cultures and not rely on law firms, firms paying Rs. 3000 as stipends to interns with some proudly calling it unpaid internships and milking all the work while providing no prospect nor encouragement towards employment or long term engagements in the name of "learning". Incompetent professors in the NLUs marking very badly and shift from issue spotting culture to rote learning again, again disadvantageous because firms are shortlisting the top 5 students and calling it merit. Firms hiring more from Lower NLUs/ private colleges in bulk early because of contacts/ long term internships due to location (which is not discriminatory), but resulting in shortage of slots for NLS, NALSAR and NUJS kids who live in forests and cannot do these internships long term due to illegible and shitty attendance requirements.
Everyone has been given a month of retainer fees (as applicable last year) as interim increment and the balance is expected by the end of next month.
Mr. SA at Tier 1, aren't you blindly hiring students in the top 10, and then blaming all students for lacking experience and lacking academic writing skills?
I started my first internship with an Advocate with an office in a slum and with a total book of business not exceeding 7-8 LPA. Got my second internship in a T1 firm through a lucky break - a family contact. Stuck at said T1 Firm for a long term internship of 1 year. At the end of 1 year, they said they didn't have a vacancy.
Sat for college placements and got into a T4 litigation firm paying 30K a month for freshers. Even that I got through pure luck. Stuck at said firm for 3 years and switched with 100% hike.
I only got through luck but once you luck out it is up to you to take advantage of that.
