You cannot work smart. - The syllabus for most of the courses is never fixed as the professors themselves are clueless as to what they have taught and how much they can possibly cover in the class. So, you must read textbooks (any) thoroughly and religiously. If someone says doing certain notes or PPTs will help you do good, then their definition of good is scoring 35-40 over 50. If you want to score over 40, you must work like a donkey.
2. Practice Past Year Qs. - Some of my friends, even though well-versed in law, were not able to do well in exams because they did not attempt answer writing till they were in the exam hall. This is the gravest blunder you can possibly make.
3. Align your ideology with the professor's - Certain profs are known to scoff at answers with any hint of ideology not subscribed by them. Some of them are known to fail students on these grounds. I know for a fact a person scored 3/25 because he mentioned Chanakya in the political theory exam.
