2 of my batchmates are YPs one in Invest India another in Law ministry (one is son of a senior bureaucrat and other is nephew of an MP)
You want Judiciary to be called public service but in the same sense, government service is public service, government employees are called public servant not Govt servant, Govt companies are called Public sector Undertaking not Govt. sector Undertaking.
Also it is not distinct from our constitution that judicial pillar and executive pillar are very distinct, as per constitution higher judiciary is to be appointed by head of executive which in turn appoints Lower judiciary.
Government has 3 parts Legislative, executive and Judiciary.
Do you also want those working in Assemblies and Parliament to be referred as legislative service?
I hope you understood my point, if not, all I have to say is, you look like some who is looking for a reason to outrage.
Meanwhile for year 2023 only DVC released vacancy and that too only 4.
You will get a chance to interact with tonnes of people and end up making a lot of contacts for you to get a job somewhere else at the end of your term
I was wondering how to go about it. Some classmates got lucky when they did this previously but wanted a larger opinion. Should I follow up on email for a bit? Or do I ring up the HR? What is the timeline for all this? Any positive stories would really help lol, thank you.

This is not true. I've seen average students from average law schools (Christ,Symbi,ILS,Jindal) and lower NLUs (MNLU, CNLU) bagging ppos

Thanks for your response. I will surely connect with you. Where do you put up? It would be amazing if you could tell me how you got your first gig..
Will this mean future law students shifting to private institutes like Jindal and Symbiosis owing to lack of seats in top NLUs? Also, will that lead to a rise in stature of these private institutes, making them bigger placement hubs than NLUs? More importantly, will it also lead to setting up of more good quality and affordable private law colleges?
Sir 2020 Grad (B.com then L.LB), Tried my hand in litigation (PQE 2) , really frustrated. Non-nlu , trying to break into corporate law firm (Gen corp field)
Any tips ? Suggestions ? Should I persist or switch career ? Is my goal feasible ? Will firms take us ?
Also this person did not avoid the issue and jump into standard of living, you brought it up yourself buddy.
P. S - When we call the judicial service a govt service, I feel we're not acknowledging the basic structure of our constitution that the judiciary is an independent pillar of our democracy. So, from now on please call it public service or simply, judicial service.
B.com and then LLB. Only difference is that I have 2 years PQE in litigation and graduate batch of 2020 and hence I am 2 years elder to you.
Internships application being rejected, no one is replying to messages on Linkedin or email.
Thanks to legallyindia, even anonymous responses on threads helps to maintain mental balance. I would have been WAYY more stressed had there been no legallyindia.
Anyway, if you are looking for friends similary situated and help each other, pls shoot mail - seriouspen@mail.com
Did you work well and we're generally available?
Did you do your term sheet well?
Was your presentation well? Were you able to answer questions by partners and grilling?
Are you in the end of third/ fourth year?
If all this is in the affirmative from yours as well as the Partner buddy side, you join S&R

Thanks, Bye :)
In addition to that, I've seen S&R hiring and giving PPOs to tier 2-3 nlus and private law school kids. Kids with 3-4 legal internships on their CVs with minimal knowledge of capital markets practice as well as zero internships in this area getting PPOs offered by S&R (capital markets team), how is this possible? Is the firm lowering its standards. If not then, please show me the way to achieve this. What exactly is criteria to get into capital markets team of the firm? I'm confused. And also, Is it worth it?

End the Fed by Dr Ron Paul
and basically every single book written by Ludwig von Mises (economics)
If you are, are you DM?
If you are, why not reach out to the ones you know might respond to you
I still remember how some T3 NLU kids messed up stuff in my old internship place. It was so pathetic did not even know the basics. So ig burns down to the individual too.
Please restrain from commenting if you can not add something constructive/answer point in susbtance asked in a post.
Blood is thicker than water.
TT&A ; KCO: They don't have a dedicated FRP dept.
JC and ELP: What's the exact salary? ELP is definitely a good option. But now that they don't have SEBI briefs. How is the work there now?
Never saw JC people in SAT
K-Ashar and Regstreet: great firms ofc. But Reg doesnt pay a lot. What's with Kashar?
Also try cold emailing law firm partners although law firms are a bit difficult to enter, you might get lucky with in house people.
If you have nothing available then atleast try to intern in corporate teams of T2/T3 law firms, that ain't something too difficult to get to be honest. Apply and persistently follow up by calling the office or emailing them, things will open up for you if you are persistent enough. It will take time but it's not impossible. Just don't give up and keep trying, keep applying and keep reaching out to people via cold emails and linkedin messages even if it seems pointless and hopeless.
Which floor?
3-4 Partners only in litigation. So difficult to put it in any tier. May be the focus is to support the corporate teams only.
T1 in Banking / General Corporate.
It is a good firm but lacks capacity in a number of practice areas.
>SAT orders
> SEBI orders
Please ?
The point being made is that we need to look beyond grievances and study non-left perspectives too.
> If after paying for expenses if we get to save only 10-15K , then isn't it way better to work in your native place with a life of peace rather than participating in rat race / hustle culture and destroy your family life (spouse and parents) , mental health , physical health (lifestyle disease) .
Pls enlighten me with your perspectiv
No one is powerful, the law is. They are just a tool to enforce the law in different forms, they cant go beyond what the law allows and requires them to do (keeping aside the corruption and unethical practices that one may choose to do.)
on another note, would be happy to send you my CV if you can get me a place in FSR Teams.
Don't preach what you don't reach !

You will note that a cabinet secretary comes in at No. 11 (along with the AG) whereas High Court Judges come in at 14 (Chief Justice) or 17 (other puisne judges). These are however higher than all other IAS officers given that Chief Secretaries come in only at No 23.
