We have online classes going on DURING internship break, and our first internals will be based on what was taught online. Break started mid jan. Online classes, less than 10 days later. Internals? 2 per day, starting 14th feb. So if you landed a really good internship for feb like I did, youre fucked. There is no scope for growth in this college guys, don’t make the same mistake. They dont encourage mooting, interning, nothing. Oh and most of the professors are awful too👍🏽

Maybe an MBA from IIM ABC might reach the level of tier-1 NLUs----just one advice, don't open your mouth in front of sensible folks from either ABC or T1 NLUs, you'll make a fool out of yourself. If you really wanna compare, you'd have at least 15 great B schools that would undoubtedly tower above your T1 NLUs. And i am not talking about the highest packages...because that way even a run of the mill engineering college can be called better than a T1 NLU which obviously isn't true.
Just one advice, go out of your pathetic little bubble, talk to folks from different fields and you'll get a better idea about where you stand.
Additionally, there are no mails talking about it at all
Gambia set the precedent with Myanmar a few years back.

Wonder if anyone from NALSAR or NUJS or NLUJ have been designated.

Khaitan Chennai is not just Assentio Legal. When KCO was set up, Vivek Sriram also moved from Mumbai with his clientele to head the Chennai office. They also added Pramod from SAM Delhi to their partnership. Both Vivek and Sriram are great people to work with and have solid GC work which is better than even a few teams from other offices put together.
The same goes for Aarthi Sivanandh (ex-JSA. now a senior partner heading AZB Chennai) and Kavita Vijay (ICUL Chennai).
While the pay is not comparable to other locations (there is still a minimum of 30-40% gap), the work has surely become on par. Please look at the credentials and the nature of work being done recently by the partners in Chennai before dissuading.
Bhai bura nahi manna hai. To the best of my knowledge case studies which are used by firms to select candidates requires good enough math skills. Not calculus level, but ability to interpret charts, make number based decision etc. And this we are talking at top B schools where everyone is good in math and english.
Still MBB firms hire less from these institutes. I just find if very casual types that since you are a lawyer, and might not get into iBanking or PE, consulting toh rakha hi hua hai. I mean try solving some case studies and see kitna paani me ho. And also see how many law background people in India are working in MBB firms as front end consultants. Most are CA/Engineer/Econ grads.
No offence, sometimes I am truly amazed to see this law superiority bubble. I mean without competition, people have declared that we have the best articulation skills, we will anyway get consulting profiles without asking how many Lawyers are working as front end strategy consultants in MBB in India. Aur jo non lawyers hai, woh jhak marne ke liye MBA school gye. MBB is the dream of the top people across B schools.
Coming to salaries, I dont know much about it so cant comment. And this is a law vs MBA debate so no need to bring in Tech salaries. But, the reason i think law partners earn money, is because law is specialised field.
Meaning i will have to spend time doing nothing except it to gain expertise. Most MBA grads join startups, become generalists, try different things. So, i think this is a huge trade off.
As far as the iBanking route is concerned, join MBB. Stay for 5y. Now exit to PE. You might get a chance.
Anyway, all the best. Main chala.
if you dont succeed at your comp exam then come to the nlu where you did your llm and teach sh£$
Indus doesn’t name itself coz SEBI doesn’t allow Merchant Bankers counsel to name in the offer document.
Sometimes I wonder while we are killing ourselves to find back-ups for every single line in that offer document, in the larger scheme of things it hardly matters because the retail guy will bid for it anyway because some youtuber or “financial influencer” said so. What’s the point of so much scrutiny then? I understand this might seem like a rant, but I genuinely don’t understand that markets anymore. IPOs have become the new F&O. Great for incompetent “new-age” promoters to dump their badly run businesses on unwitting fools, who for now are making money but eventually someone will be left holding a bag full of shit.

Someone who is probably a troll? Just ask seniors who have graduated. If you went to nls or nalsar - none of this would be a surprise.
No trolls please
First, answer this for yourself: Being a lawyer or a law student how are you different as a lawyer than a normal person who can google and read English? Before you entered law school, did you know about contract law or civil procedure code or, let's say, the basics of the constitution of India? I am sure not. What law school gave you was a platform that enabled you to learn about these legal texts and their jurisprudence to understand them, which made or will make you a lawyer.
Similarly, a foreign LLM helps you take your academic and professional experience further to make you a better lawyer. You'd learn concepts that you might not have even heard of in your undergraduate studies.
Let me draw a parallel from Lage Raho Munnabhai to explain this better (spoilers ahead). Our beloved Munnabhai could see Gandhi answering questions about what Munnabhai had already read about but could not answer the questions that he did not know. So we are able to think within the limits of our knowledge base. So, if we expand it, we will be able to think more efficiently and effectively.
Now, you could argue that you can also get that with experience. Absolutely true. But you don't get the experience of the entire legal system by just one case or, let's say, 10 cases. You learn as you go. What if you had a ladder that helped you get that experience in one go?
In addition to your academic experience, it also helps you develop other important aspects about you, as well. For instance, it teaches you how to network, improve your presentation skills, boost your confidence in a room full of strangers, etc. All of them combining in to make you a better and a confident lawyer.
TLDR: The answer is simple, if you are looking to become a better lawyer, the foreign LLM will help you do that but if you are just taking a myopic view of it converting into a foreign job, then more often than not it will be met with disappointment. A foreign LLM need not necessarily get you a comfortable life abroad, but it does help you individually in the long run. It all depends upon the motivation behind the foreign LLM and what you want to make of it.
NLS did not have a holiday on 1st Jan, forget about 22nd jan
My opinion: not possible unless you come from such a family business (broking/wealth management) and are able to overtake it. Breaking into PE is much more harder than big law and especially hard if you're a lawyer turned manager, there would always be 1000 more better options available in the market over you
This was the earlier post about the incident -

Could you tell me if she is still working ? What happened to her ? I am just curious to find out what happens after such a big incident in career.
I am 200% sure this reiteration of name of this couple along with few other names is deliberately being done either by one of their juniors , or their bootlicker or they themselves do it (not to mention how hungry he is for attention).
To me, the greatest good news is to see name of simple man "Pijush Kanti Roy" , Archana Pathak Dave , Liz Matthew and NS Nappinai among others.
LI readership is full of bloke , inexperienced , corporate enthusiat law students who barely have spent any time in Supreme Court , Delhi High Court or Bombay HC to take into consideration any other name.

So, do you have to born into a nepotistic family to earn good in litigation space ?
What are your thoughts on this surmise ?
Starry Night,
▮▮▮
(SSSTU)
How about GNLU, NLUJ, NLIU, RMLNLU, MNLU, NLUO and others?
*former associate there
but hiring is very limited.
terview for internship?
Do those "extras", bruv. Any which way, you won't get time after you join these glorious law firms.
And we are not even bringing litigation into this argument. Yes, it pays very poorly to its freshers, but we all agree that once litigation starts paying off, there are very few independent businesses/practices that can reward you with such a corpus in such a short span.
In addition to this, lay-offs. We are not the ones who wake up with the fear of being laid-off in the hundreds and thousands. There is mostly enough work to go around unless your performance has been abysmally pathetic or the senior/partner has decided its time to cut you loose, and even then it's a smaller number compared to what software developers go through.
"What career progression?"- I won't even bother replying to this because someone else probably will.
None of this makes your profession or mine superior to the other. We all chose our poison, so let's drink it peacefully and without this di*k measuring.
