1) shivadass and shivadass law chambers - predominantly idt matters
2) lakshmikumaran and sridharan (not a chamber, but a decent tax law exp could help you get in for an internship, they do majority of idt work in india by and large)

We should look at historical figures holistically and with nuance. Remember than even Indira Gandhi praised Savarkarβs bravery and patriotism. And in many ways Savarkar was more modern than Gandhi, as he criticised cow worship and expressed atheist views.
I am also the sole earner in my family of 3 now. Mother and father have health issues, and they are unemployed because of that. I have one sibling whose college fee is also to be paid by me, starting next year. Our family survived somehow by using our savings for the last one year when I was in litigation, but now when we had almost nothing, I had to give up on litigation. So I joined a small company in my city as an in-house counsel.
The problem is, I'm learning literally nothing here. Most of the days I'm free and workless, just sitting on my ass staring at the blank screen in my cabin. Once or twice a week they ask me to draft a legal notice or two. Very rarely I've to draft some plaints for recovery. But I'm still getting paid around 25k a month for this "work" which is very useful in my current family circumstances.
On the flipside, everyday was a new learning experience when I was in courts.
All this work I'm doing here can easily be done remotely, yet they still ask me to "work" 10 hours a day in their office. I feel like I've made a massive mistake by going in-house. Are most in-house jobs this mind numbingly boring and unfruitful or is it just my company? Would it be better if I join some small boutique firm instead?

First, claiming that seniority equates to efficiency is not only illogical but also dangerously complacent. Titles are not shields against accountability. The fact that someone has reached a senior position does not automatically exempt them from scrutiny or criticism. Professional capabilities must be consistently demonstrated, not presumed based on rank. equating seniority with efficiency is laughable. A title does not guarantee competence, let alone absolve anyone of inefficiency. If anything, it should invite greater scrutiny, because leadership demands higher standardsβnot a free pass.
Second, your so-called βboat metaphorβ is as irrelevant as it is inaccurate. Pretending that inefficiencies donβt exist at senior levels is delusional. Workflows break down due to poor leadership just as much as execution, and brushing it off with some mythical idea of hierarchy only exposes your unwillingness to address real issues. Let me make it clear: inefficiency at any levelβjunior, senior, or partnerβdeserves to be called out, and defending it under the guise of hierarchy is nothing but a weak excuse.
Finally, as for your argument about CCβing partners on emailsβare we seriously equating being aware of work with actual contribution? Thatβs not engagement; thatβs passive observation. If you believe thatβs how leadership is measured, itβs no wonder inefficiencies persist. It is absurd to suggest that merely being copied on emails is an adequate measure of engagement or accountability.
Your attempt to dismiss valid criticism as βpersonal vindictivenessβ is both unprofessional and baseless. If your idea of professionalism is to suppress legitimate concerns under the pretense of respect for seniority, then perhaps it is time to re-evaluate what efficiency and leadership truly mean.
Stop hiding behind empty defences, stop hiding behind hierarchy and start addressing real issues.

On top of this there are day scholars in the college and the surrounding area around Cuttack is not safe at all. A zomato delivery boy was killed in front of our college 1.5 years ago at 5 PM.
Mental health issues in the college have been at peak with numerous suicides and suicide attempts in the last 5 years.
There is regular breathalyzer checks when students enter college. They have taken away access from rooms allotted to college committees. Boys are not allowed to drop girls to their hostels since that is against the culture of the college. Juniors cannot go to a seniors room (Under the guise of preventing ragging)
The Admin refuses to communicate. VC is non existent, if she is there she usually makes stuff worse. If we go to registrar he says it is not my department go to concerned people. Dean will outright refuse to communicate.
Surprisingly this mail is one of the more competently and sensibly drafted mail by the dean. This is the standard set by the dean of academics of a national law university.
Mail:
Dear all,
We worked out tutorial time-table yesterday.
1.As of now after engaging empty slots in the time-table, tuorial classes will go till about 8 pm. 7.30 if we remove 5 minutes breaks after 3.30 class. So requests such as I can't come at 9 am and can't stay after 4 pm cannot be entertained.
2. It is not possible to have groups either of 15 or 20 because we do not have enough rooms. SO as of now kindly take tutorial classes of all students in the section to mark attendance.
3. With time table tight from 9 am to 7.30 or 8 pm, there is no option but to take compensatory classes on Saturdays.
4. Whether there will be evaluation for tutorial or not, and if there will be what will be the mode, has to be finalised. The group discussion is not working out in physical mode.
5. Students and faculty PLEASE do not bombard this email account with responses. I wont be reading and replying. Whatever your views and inputs, it needs to be sorted in a different, peaceful and sensible way. I dont have time and energy to engage in endless discussions on mail.

but u can get nluo, rgnul definitely in vacant seats if not counselling
1]Go to NLUO on merit Which is a pretty Good T2 and the fees will be reasonable asw which would give me the flexibility to pursue anything i want [idk what i want to do but having a preference towards litigation/foreign LLM]
2] My parents are well off and they don't mind paying for WBNUJS which would have excellent placements in case i decide on corp law along with better opportunities for mooting and brand value
3]The Uncertainty regarding CLAT is crazy and the safe option i have right now is to take my seat with JGLS but this is more of a backup for me if nothing works out
Would really appreciate your advice on this as well as on going abroad for a foreign LLM
Fuel + home orderly + driver is also another 33-34k in addition to salary. So total around 1.53-1.55 lakh p.m.
Then other usual govt job perks like electricity bill, mobile bill, wifi bill, mobile purchase encashment, HTC and LTC, furniture allowance of 1.5 lakh every 5 years, tech allowance of around 1.15 lakh every 4-5 years, etc. This is all in the SNJPC judgment. Itna toh padhlo. Sirf paisa paisa, service ke upar sabse recent and relevant judgment nahi padhi? Harr jawab banaya hua chahiye LI pe toh kya judge banoge?
Only if you are engaging Mr. Kathpalia, Ramji Srinivasan, K Datta, Abhijeet Sinha, P nagesh and Arvind Nayyar in Delhi NCLT or NCLAT, it is worth.
Otherwise, it is way better to go with above non designated set.
Some veterans also like Mr. Ganda & Mr. Chaudhary are also very good.
As a result of the Delhi HC order, CLAT has halted counselling. Any idea what happens next? Is everyone's marks going to change?
Anyways if your mental and physical health is going to go down the lane. Then why not join a place which will pay you almost double. Believe me, the gap at senior levels is enormous. For eg a SA at JSA may make 30 LPA, while the peer in SAM/CAM would be making around 55 LPA. This gap increases at PA and Partner level.
Some rotten potatoes have spoilt the entire broth. A superficial level of feedback will reveal who these potatoes are.
Do they even have any placements?
Should I apply to Wadhwa or to Karanjawala for a job? Who pays better?
2. improve the way you write answers, ask a friendly senior how to write for specific professors
3. not sure, they do impart useful skills but as far as getting you a job only winning or breaking in a few international moots would really make a big difference afaik
Hmmm.. But will it have an impact? I think early Gen Alpha (born between 2010 and 2015) is probably already online and contaminated by social media. A bit like how a person canβt be saved once bitten by a vampire. So the target has to be late Gen Alpha (born between 2016 and 2024).

Like does SLSP have any tie-ups with colleges abroad? If so which? how can i try for them from SLSP?
any help would be appreciated
bro just because we're secular, it doesn't mean we're hinduphobic. grow up!
people who ask about them and looked down and avoided. dw about it, be happy you got in and no need to feel guilty about it.
i was also v scared about it at first, and people did ask each other's ranks online (from dec-june) to make friends and all, but in the end it doesn't matter.
take my word for it. forget about all the harsh words you've been told. you'll be happier for it.
CLAT RANKS DON'T MEAN ANYTHING!
ps, congratulations for getting into t1, dw you'll do just fine β β‘
what is bro's source for that?
2. Secondly, any country that has 1650 law schools after the top 50 is a country with major problems. After 50 (I would argue below 25 itself, but am happy to compromise), shut all the rest of them down for good. And BTW, this is not an idea restricted to our country. Even in other countries with better higher education systems than ours, such as Britain, there are well-established schools of thought saying that fewer universities might actually be a good thing. When these stinkingly rich British uni vice chancellors have been crying about money shortages while themselves going on trips worth eye-watering amounts supposedly on uni business, the government's response has been entirely appropriate: they have refused to implement taxpayer bailouts and have told people to be ready for "potential market exits" (govt speak for universities shutting down). Take an even firmer line in India, I say, and shut down 1650 out of those 1700 law schools/departments/colleges. My personal view is that HPNLU and all law schools until rank number 26 (according to whatever criteria you are using) should go as well, but as they say, you can't have everything in this world now, can you?
Thanks
Switch over to any other practice area, youβll be fine. Accept the PQE cut as the cost of doing business.
Also, grow up and stop obsessing over batch ranks after college.
Thanks!
Or I should choose the 5 year integrated law programme of DU that has recently been launched, with respect to the fact that I reside in Delhi itself. Will it be a good idea to go their or going to an NLU would still be a better option.
This is a follow-up. It's been some time.
I will try to keep it short. I come from a non-nlu university (undisputedly the first line in every LI cry-for-help post, I think) and I never had the opportunity to intern with those big guzzling corporate law firms even after "decillion" attempts. These rejections never affected me but they did push me towards litigation while all this time I hoped for a career in corporate. So, bits and crumbs for experience in corporate.
Anyway, (to make things worse) I graduated this year; with the same fate and the same determination. I made a list of all the law firms and started applying. My rejections were obvious and evident but I don't intend to give up as I have clouds and mountains for dreams. I am still at hunt, but while I am at it, I also started working in litigation, just to keep myself sane. Pay is peel of the peanut but the work keeps me busy (and I am learning something everyday at least). However, I don't intend to keep working in Litigation. I don't think litigation experience holds any value for such firms and thereby I have decided to start afresh. I believe it is not too late, I will apply to every kind of law firm handling transactions or Cap Markets or PE&VC and for that I need help and suggestions from everyone here at LI.
So, pls help me with any leads or names of such law firms where hiring is rather easy and immediate.
Thank You!
Let's start from a relevant point of time in my life (or maybe, "points" for this one).
- Good chap in school, did fairly well, wanted something else for myself but settled for law
- Had no idea about the field, shot myself straight from 12th boards to appearing for CLAT (No AILET, no MHCET, no LSAT, no SLAT)
- Did well in CLAT but my optimistic self wanted a Tier 1 for myself. Decided to drop a year
- Meanwhile, took admission in a state university to see what it is like (I still beat myself over this)
- Covid happened. Didn't appear for CLAT, and just like that I was in my third semester
- My optimistic self thought I could still turn this around for good (I had dreams of going to Yale)
- Started out with internships and research papers. Did a few, wrote many. However, most of them were litigation internships given what my college name could best fetch for
- Fast Forward to 2024, I graduated with nothing significant but just hopes and dreams as big and heavy as rocks
- Wanted to join a law firm, become a corp lawyer but my resume didn't allow me. I have experience but not relevant
- LI really helped me cope up. I took advice and joined a litigation office. Thought I could climb my way up from there
- I enjoyed my bit at Litigation but now I don't see myself going anywhere (also, the peanuts for pay)
Now, I took all the random advices I could find on LI and other platforms and tried my hand at almost everything. However, and unfortunately, nothing worked. Also, I don't want to continue in Litigation anymore.
I think it is fair to say that I have failed professionally, but I don't want this failure to stop me here. Even at this stage, I have a long way ahead of me and I think that I could still turn it around.
So what now? I never really had anyone to actually guide me. My parents, because I did well in school, they thought that I would manage myself even in college. My law school was and is heavily focused on judiciary. The faculty, my seniors, my peers everyone eats and sleeps judiciary. Most of them are in postgrad now.
I am a piece of work. I could really use some help to land a job or even a traineeship at any T2-T3, or any boutique law firm for that matter. The verticals I am aiming for are General Corporate, B&F, M&A, PE&VC but truth to be told, I have little to no experience in any of them.
What I want? Simply, someone to help me. Now I don't want the "someone" to hold my hand and do everything for me. Obviously not. I need help in terms of what to do from here, where to go, whom to approach and how to approach. A roadmap. I know there are people on LI who actually study at Yale and people who are partners in top law firms coming from non NLU background. I can really use the insight, the help to change things for myself. I just don't want to give up.
I am a challenge. Please work on me. Please help.
(I can provide an anonymous email to go on)
Work obviously gets boring if you only stick to legal aspects of it. if you venture into the finance space a little it will be always exciting as you will be able to see deal as a whole.
