They all are good respectable faculty. 3-4 leaving is normal for any place. And glorifying one or two faculty of one or two subjects is stupid. New people will come in. They learn and grow. Faculty members are not elected representatives. Some may just want to teach. Some may be good in research. Some good at marketing themselves. Some good at all. Same like in law firms or any other job. Dont make it more than that.
This post is nothing but an agenda to malign people who are just doing their work. The institution went through a difficult last semester putting a lot of emotional burden on our teachers. Dont bully teachers.
LI is requested to close this thread.
Now look at NLSIU where recently one of their teachers who is also doing their PhD tries to normalise and justify the real fact of discrimination as practised by the Indian state on the basis of caste as some kind of perverse justice through his so-called โmoral readingโ << https://www.nls.ac.in/news-events/faculty-seminar-presentations-by-sidharth-chauhan-and-rahul-hemrajani/ >>. Consider his own words here: โThis dissertation argues that these special provisions [relating to electoral reservation on the basis of caste] for enabling the political representation of historically marginalised communities should not be narrowly viewed as methods for redistributing material resources . . . With respect to explanations for democratic authority, the key idea is that electoral quotas incrementally contribute to โrecognitional legitimacyโ, a concept that transcends the immediate pursuit of political integration and the pragmatic accommodation of group differences.โ
Please see through the abstraction of language and concepts here to observe the real argument: that India is not a nation of individual citizens with inalienable rights but a community of communities engaged in the process of bartering interests. Everything is relative. No inherent values exist that Indians share with each other. They are all mutual enemies of each other and tied in delicate balance. For the author, in the name of โrecognitional legitimacyโ, it is perfectly reasonable to discriminate against people by calling them and their forefathers oppressors! And, of course, what is โpragmatic accomodationโ if not a happy declaration that not only is India not a nation but that the only way to govern it is by managing groups and communities in their respective ghetto-like existence.
And then we wonder why our institutions do not stand for our fundamental rights. How can they when they are already committed to an ideological project that is anti-individual and sees Indians as not a people but a bunch of groups who can only interact with other in a zero-sum game.
This is my sincere case. I am happy to be corrected.
Hence, your assumption that the rest of your generation is โwith youโ is unfounded. In fact, your buddies must be telling you โya bro, screw the overlordsโ, but in reality, they will be working like beasts and ensuring they secure their future. Donโt get left behind beta. With your attitude, you just might. All the best.
Therefore, if this happened because you were genuinely sleep deprived, be honest and your seniors will understand but if this is one of those bouts of bratty behaviour, they wonโt.
1. Print this post and keep it in a sealed envelope, titled "Open again in 2040".
2. Do an MBA.
3. Become an investment banker or open a startup.
4. Become a millionaire. Buy a flat in NY, London or Dubai. Mary a supermodel.
5. In 2040, open the envelope and laugh your ass off.
2. Learn English spelling.
3. Maybe revise from a CLAT book for the above.
4. Resit (and actually pass) CLAT.
2 days wfh for all associates but interns have to be in office
I took a drop after 12th, was a PCM eat,I became super interested in subjects of law and humanities. Gave CLAT, fumbled it. Spent time on a whole wrong question set, made some silly mistakes, became nervous because I am shit as a student and as a human.
Couldn't get into my dream college. Wanted to be in Nliu or NALSAR so bad, wanted to experience a whole-ass college life at one of these. Now my rank is 200x. Most of the NLUs I am getting are tier 3, IPU, or some tier 2 which have EWS reservation. Man, I am so frustrated. No friends around in my city, most of them went to some third-gradeโI mean, yesโcolleges in Indore and Bhopal.Maybe I deserve this frustration. As my mocks were going, I imagined getting a rank around 1,000s. The idea of getting into whatever college I have and then rewriting this exam is crossing my mind again and again. Also, there's the fear that I may not succeed again. And if I do, I will be entering uni at the age of 20.Just wanted to rant, to tell people what's going on in my mindโthat's all.
This institute once held prestigious Palkhivala Tax Moot. But lost the trust to MNLU after its emergence. This institute once had participants from Oxford and Harvard for participation. But now limited to national colleges. It once had foreign student exchange. Now? When I type GLC into Google, first search comes of a Mercedes car. This is the importance and stature of 150 year old college. Location and behold the trojan horse. Hollow from inside.
I am relocating to Delhi. So looking for anyone to hire me whoever has a vacancy. Preferably an AOR in SC. I want to practise in Delhi High Court and Supreme Court.
I am currently in under a senior advocate in Jharkhand High Court.
My current pay is 30k + Whatever I get from personal cases.
I graduated last year and have been practicing at JHC since 8 months.
If someone is looking for a junior assosciate I am happy to share my resume.
Please help me guys.
(continuing)โฆ..and the institutional greatness of GLC is slowly withering away, just like its infrastructure (the College is going through the noisiest and longest โrenovationโ ever). God bless us.
Although it hasnโt been more than a couple of years since I joined KCO but I sense a very different calming vibe hereโฆ there is a very good synergy between the firm and the lawyers- evident from the fact that lawyers arenโt using the services free for tgem
Since my company operates at the intersection of multiple regulatory areas, such as finance and e-commerce, there have been periods of intense work, sometimes requiring me to cancel planned leaves. However, for the most part, I have control over my time. Financially, Iโm doing better than some of my friends at Tier 1 firms. If the nature of work at a Tier 1 firm isnโt aligned with your priorities, itโs worth considering a different workplace. One of the best things about a legal career is the flexibility to explore various rolesโin-house, law firms, research organizations, and more. Therapy also played a significant role in helping me decide what was right for me.
So yes pretty helpful
I have begun to think that since almost all of them are Non-Nlu people they might be biased against me for their personal reasons. I am not sure if this is really true or just my hunch. I am hoping to find some really genuine advice to get out of this situation and perspectives from people here.
Ps - I had readily introduced myself to all associates however there was no such initiative from my co-interns. Secondly, I am in my penultimate year and the others are in their final year.
I want to know because the conversation in this post seems to make Sudhir the God of all VCs and legal education system must adhere to what he says. If something like Sudhir is done in NLUD, would ANY exisitng faculty remain here? Would the Delhi Government behave same as the Govt there in Karnataka? What am I missing?
What do you think will happen to us if we protest? These professors that she has gone after are experienced in their fields and leaving GLC won't cause them much harm, but us? If she comes after us, our entire career will be in jeopardy.
Prabhash left...another left to join NLUD. So u can decide.
Every other college is bad. All the posts on LI point to this.
Literally, law school is the place for theory. A student may be too interested in acquiring skills to be interested in getting an education. Being a professor is not a 'public role'. These people didn't run for election. They are just offering a service to people who don't respect them or their privacy. The problem with this website is that it allows people who know nothing about education to come and hold forth about it.
My problem with your post is that you assume that someone saying that hard work is necessary equates to toxicity. It does not.
There are many of us 'oldies' who have worked really hard for 20+ years, and this has involved many instances of cancelled plans at the last minute, missing out on parties and birthdays and other fun events, sometimes letting down our loved ones, seeing acquaintances drift away, bouts of anxiety and depressive behaviour, and many other 'sacrifices'. We are also very aware that we would not have been able to get to where we are now without this hard work. In many fields (including law), if you want to be successful professionally, this will be the price.
You can choose that this is not what you want, that you want to prioritize personal time, and that is ok.
Do also be aware that, by the time people turn 35 or 40, professional achievements (and consequently, financial position and ability to provide for the family, send the kids to good schools, go on family holidays, have a nice house) tend to mean more to many people than having attended a few additional concerts or seen many movies or hung out with buddies. It's just that this occurs much later, and right now you will not be able to visualise this stage of your life. Again, this is just a perspective and the ultimate decision on how you want to work and live your life is yours. Just stop thinking that hard work is toxic.
I felt there was a proper collegiate atmosphere and that I could approach anyone with any questions I had.
For all the criticisms the firm gets (and I've had my share of problems / whining too), I think the firm does have fantastic, competent people across levels.
Things may have changed in the last 3 years, but I do not think that culture would have eroded substantially.
2. Maybe for NMIMS or BITS
If you get BITS with some scholarship, take it. It's being run like Jindal 2.0, and the admin is very active in placing students in internships. The quality of students is fine.
NMIMS is OK but it's sometimes run like a school. The admin is extremely conservative in their approach.
I'm writing this post upon being stuck in my career.
Currently i'm working with an advocate, I have extensive experience in arbitration, appearance before various courts. I'm able to manage the entire arbitration disputes by myself. I can calculate claims, prepare the entire pleadings, admission and denial, evidence and arguments. I can review contracts and prepare legal opinion for government clients. I mean there is much more too it, but, i'm stuck at this place in Uttarakhand. I'm wondering if i can enter a tier 1 or tier 2 law firm to escalate my career further because i have worked enough in item rate contracts, turn key contracts pertaining to infrastructure development, power infrastructure development and supply.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance during in this period of dire need of mine.
Regards.
shed light pls.

Where should I intern this smer? Which firms are looking to hire for disputes? What are some realistic places for me to apply to convert the internship to PPO? I dont have much time and want to allocate my breaks meaningfully

The team is relatively small for handling so many VC transactions as they claim to.
Also how is the pay? Is there a bracket?
She is genuinely is propoganda Maschine in herself. Which propoganda is quite well known to each and every student of GLC, including those supporting her. In pursuance of the same two other cultural committee (Gujrati and Urdu) are no longer functional, even their nominal presence is absent.
She despise even marathi speaker doing anything other than cultural fest that is why Marthi Moot Court Association has not been able to organise a single moot court competition.
The college has failed to organise SC visit, Delhi Study Tour, Alumni Meet.
There is a registered Alumni Association of the college someone who knows who whose should contact them. Seems our Alumni too have abandoned us.
The college governing council must make a note and so do Alumni of this no longer prestigious college that there is still time, college can still be saved, debate discuss dialogue should be the prime key. Delegates should be sent to Ministers, UGC and BCI.
Anyone who is having enough political support or can muster political support shall start agitation why wait, if VC of RGNLU could be changed, many more things can happen. And yes a curse to AdHoc students council, we need a Full autonomous and powerful and functional students bar association.
I am confused what to do. I have no good offer in my hand for M&A/PE/VC and then there is this ambiguity regarding B&F and Capital Markets. Any suggestions? Please do not shoot me down for this, looking for genuine advise.
