Tier 1 ends with IIFT Delhi and IIM Indore
It's not a big deal at all
Also, is a PPO possible with this method??
Watch Aitraaz (2004) by Abbas Mustan. Cult movie on the Indian legal system and Litigation in general.
Itโs probably the pressure from your family, and maybe seeing your friends working at jobs thatโs giving you FOMO.
Assuming you arenโt the brightest student in class, you can definitely work in a Tier 2/ Tier 3 firm. Corporate work is not that difficult although some colleagues may be difficult to work with.
If youโve not completely written off corporate law as a career, donโt give up hope. Be strategic with your approach. Donโt apply to 1500 firms randomly. Select boutique firms, small size firms, see when partners/ associates are leaving. DM associates on LinkedIn to figure out if they are vacancies and then apply .
You have these choices:
1. You suck it up, I don't think they will make your partner anytime soon and will keep you hanging. You will have to take up non-specialised work to make up for the Senior Partners' revenue shortfall. Somehow show your mettle there and play hardball to extract partnership.
2. If you have to move: you can either go to one of the B&F Tier 1s/ or lower Tiers/Banks/Financial Institutions In-House Positions
Let me know how to connect with you, let's figure something?
TYSMMMMM in advance for any leads
As far as career choices go, keep applying to law firms/chambers and something will turn up for sure. Start from somewhere and don't let the stagnation rot you. Keep moving, even if it's only an inch better than where you were.
DU is like Cristiano Ronaldoโbuilt on grit, discipline, and consistent excellence. NLUs, on the other hand, are like Leicester Cityโflashes of brilliance but not always the dominant force. Most of the real gems will always come from Faculty of Law.
2. What role can they play?
3. What role do universities like Oxford play in the context of their societies? Maybe specifically, what role does Oxford play in the context of UK society?
4. Why and how are these different to what Indian universities can do or should be doing?
- if u canafford it but want to go under the radar, quiet Luxury, then go for - Jeager Le Coultre, Parmiggiani Fluerier, A.Lange and Sohne.
- if u want to look rich but dont want to shell out Mercedes car like money - Cartier (either tank or santos, they have quartz models for them so not very expensive), Tissot PRX Damian Lillard, oris divers 65 in full bronze.
for the top 2 options i would not buy from Authorised dealers - better off in secondary markets.
for 3rd option i would buy from authorised dealer.
No, and most of us don't. We are expected to have functional language skills - i.e., ability to work with complex material, communicate complex and convoluted ideas in a simple way and do that persuasively, and explain complex things to people who don't understand them. This obviously requires a strong vocabulary, but it doesn't require use of flowery or fancy language on a daily basis. Read some good books (non-fiction and fiction) to build your communication skills.
Please give this route a shot, if not, come back here and I will tell you a way to get in touch with me.
I understand that they slightly differ from the non-litigation salaries. Any insights would be helpful!
Some of the firms I'd be interested to know the salaries of are:
1. Veritas Legal
2. Argus Partners
3. KCO
4. JSA
5. P&A
6. DSK
Please provide insights on the other firms as well, thank you!
I totally understand that these M&A matters can create issues for you since transactional experience is quite important (in any practice area). See if you can consider joining non tier 1 firms who are looking to expand. There are quite a few of them and will be happy to get someone so experienced.
Just crack it and there will be no looking back. You will be richer and happier in the long run. Of course, itโs hard to make it to the top IIMs, especially if you are a non-EWS general category student. But you can try the IITs, the lower IIMs or even NIFT (MFM - Masterโs in Fashion Management) along with private institutions like ISB, FORE, MICA etc. Even Symbiosis isnโt bad. Worst case go to Jindal for an MBA. Good luck!
Yet to be seen if SAM would pay bonus to A0s or was the announcement just another stint/ jumla.
Although, I am not sure as to which career path I will follow (judiciary, JAG, corporate, etc.), but would having a LinkedIn profile be strongly recommended in case of a corporate career?
My current understanding is that neither colleges nor law firms mandate it, but would having one make life a hell of a lot easier compared to not?
How is barbri?
As I know their family personally so the family/financial situation is ruled out? What is something related to academics/personal life/relationships or something else.
Maybe his friends or anyone who was aware about what he was going through.
Title. Does this happen in all NLUs is this another tactic by Asmita Vaidya the Principal to usurp more money into her pockets?
All the best, dear fellow. And please never hesitate to seek advice from here or from anyone whose judgement you trust.
It was good while it lasted
Please familiarise yourself with debates in constituent assembly. Or read VP Menon. The very concept of states emerges after the creation of the union when princely states and colonial provinces were harmonized into states. Tamil Nadu, as it stands today, did not exist in 1947. It is one of the successor states to Madras. Therefore, it is the Union that precedes and determines the states.
Feel free to share share your quantitative analysis of how BJPโs propaganda is worse than DMKโs. The last time I checked, no one in BJP has made a soft case for secession like those in DMK. The very intent of calling an Indian language like Hindi an โimpositionโ is nothing but dog whistle.
Just because NEP is a policy does not make it irrelevant. The Union enjoys precedence over policy-making when it comes to education. Even NEET-UG or JEE are components of that policy. Does that mean a state can choose to not recognise them? No. Does that mean that a state can refuse to implement a lawful policy while demanding the discretion to use as it sees fit the funds attached to that policy? No.
a) lower pay compared to law firms
b) judicial politics with regard to promotions
c) quality of courtrooms and court support staff
d) quality of lawyers who appear before you
I am thinking doing judicial services in the future so please do provide some detailed insights.
Bharat Chugh is one of the few famous and talented folks who made the switch from civil judgeship back to firms and now successfully runs his own chambers. Please do reach out to him on LinkedIn/Instagram
