PS - By no means am I saying that being a top rank holder is bad or being academically inclined poses any disadvantages. In fact, I would actually be elated if even one-tenth of this batch takes up academia. The current law school ecosystem barely teaches anything to the otherwise comparatively smarter generation of students.

What does this have to do with law firm resignations by women? They resign for entirely different reasons. They want to stop working as slaves.
Don’t get your causation mixed up with correlation. Just because most Rhodes scholars are good students who probably did get several gold medals ( cause Rhodes looks for good students with high GPAs) doesn’t mean that a gold medal is enough to get you Rhodes.
I might look at the weather forecast and carry an umbrella and it may rain on me. But that doesn’t mean me carrying an umbrella made it rain.
And please tell me you’re not comparing judiciary exams or GMAT to a Rhodes scholarship in terms of difficulty. Hundreds of lawyers manage to crack those every year. How many Law students get a Rhodes scholarship ?
And a TC is an achievement - but is still more common . There consistently have been 3-4 TCs a year.
I hope the moderators bump this so more students can see this!
Also, an initial discussion was had with the Senior Partners joining from Luthra and the top management. It was discussed that folks joining from L&L will meet their team costs for the year, DSK does not expect them to be profitable instantly. Thus, DSK top management allowed for the entire last FY to meet team costs and get adjusted. However, the new teams were not even able to meet half of the team costs... This continued into the recovery for April and May, after which this decision was taken.
1. I would advise you to consider an MBA or PGDM, as the diversity of career options is greater. The fact that you studied history could indicate that maths is not your forte, but these days women get preference for admission in MBA courses. You can aim for IIM + SP Jain + IIT+ Jamnalal Bajaj + MICA + FMS + FORE. A few others too.
2. If you are unable to secure admission to the above colleges, only then consider NLSIU for a 3 year LLB.
Caveat: I am assuming you belong to the general quota. If not, then keep trying for government jobs. Something is guaranteed to work out.
My claim was that "MNLU Nagpur has the best infrastructure (subject to completion of the construction) obviously in the prospective campus.
You're right, Infrastructure may or may not mean quality legal education but that was not even my claim. Nowhere did I say or claim so. Also, with regard to NIRF I said, They significantly consider the Campus and infrastructure in their rankings. Don't misconstrue this to mean that MNLU will top the rankings. No ... But it'll see significant progress in the rankings i.e. it won't be where it's now after the completion of the construction (certainly in that particular regard of infrastructure).
My policy is not to make unreasonable claims. But that doesn't mean what deserves attention would be left undiscussed.
The fact that MNLU Nagpur will have the best infrastructure is certainly very clear as the construction work finishes.
Quality legal education was not my claim and My claim was that of Best Infrastructure in MNLU Nagpur.
Quality legal education could be a different debate which deserves a separate thread. You may see that this thread is particularly about placements and campus (which means Infrastructure too to some extent) at MNLU Nagpur.
Peace ✌️
What are your ranks even good for then?
You must have lived in a very different time then. Off the top of my head: Sadhika, Oorvi, Priyamvada & in recent times, Rhea. Half our batches used to fangirl over them & their credentials — and mind you, I have been a BH resident.
I'm nowhere denying the existence of misogyny anywhere in the world — but to use such an extreme and untrue example doesn't help your case. We've run behind Prof. Dhanda for an insanely long time, and off late, professors like Aakanksha Kumar & Sahana Ramesh have commanded a great amount of respect, quite probably more than Pranav did.
So let's not get triggered by a random word, yea?
Another big problem is the reliance on electricity. All motors, filtration systems and water taps (fully sensor based) etc. work only if there is electricity. And of course the electric supply isn't 24*7, so whenever it goes out, the water goes too. We even had to go to the Academic Block to do our stuff because the water supply there is constant.
The hostel fees has charged money for aur conditioning but we didn't get any. They didn't give coolers as a substitute either, we had to get them ourselves. Lifts are not maintained either, people have been stuck there all night in some instances.
There is active construction on campus, involving heavy vehicle movement and cement mixing plants, which deteriorate the air quality rapidly. No water spraying is done, as is required, to settle the pollution and dust. This caused a lot of respiratory issues to students over the past year and physicians have identified the pollution on campus as the reason behind this.
There are many such issues.. and the overall issue with the infra is that the best part of it exists only in the designs. The designs aren't very practical - like not having water tanks on top of buildings, rather keeping them underground so that a motor will be required to pump it up. The land alloted for the campus is quite large, but the design still doesnt leave too many open spaces for kids to enjoy.

NUJS clearly has a higher average AIR in the general category and the bottom cut-off in NUJS' general category is 256, at NLU-J it's 378.
But yes, a 70 and 75 rank have opted for NLU-J this year, but that's not even in the NUJS 'ranks' but actually within the NLSIU cut-off.
Renaming thread title for accuracy.
Additionally, a huge number of people lose their scholarship in Jindal for any number of reasons because the policy is created that way — getting the scholarship is easy, retaining it all the way is not.
As such, even if you have the money, I'd highly recommend re-taking CLAT under better coaching mentors and utilising your privileged command on English to eventually end up at an established NLU that opens up many more options for you.
The question is whether 3 Year LLB be just another LLM like course while the legacy 5 years program continues to be the elite one. Even the current elite 5 year LLB in NLSIU lost its value because of increasing seats and caste reservations.
A great mentor and a better person. Humble, kind, and humorous!
Also the design of the campus was chosen as the winner of a national level campus designing competition which involved the best names in the infrastructure industry.
Can the moderator be any more from nujs?
But if you look at partner promotions in 2022 or 23, it will be 50% NLU and 50% everyone else (averages out there, I checked)
This is because many successful lawyers in tier 1 law firms come through lateral hires from smaller law firms
50% of NLU campus recruited folks will leave in less than 12 months, more before 2 years are over
Law firms will then raid smaller law firms looking for experienced people
Those people make partner as often as the privileged top NLU kids
Its just a different route
Also plenty of non NLU people make it by doing long term internships, something that NLU grads don’t want to tell you
In the grand scheme of things, Indian t-1 firms are not even in the top 100 law firms of the world and practically nobody outside of law knows about these organisations. I am not trying to be disrespectful, I am aware of the kind of work it takes to build such firms but why are students not aiming for the likes of Kirkland, Weil, Skadden, Linklaters etc? I am aware that in the longer term India is better when it comes to pay but it's another ballgame when you say that you are a corporate lawyer in London. Do people not understand the prestige it carries? Am I thinking too much or is everybody else crazy? I mean, let's face it, nobody would pick a Tier 1 indian firm over Kirkland or Clifford chance if given the choice.
1. the campus itself is good, far from the city but manageable. mess food is just fine, u have fairly good access to stores, although it cant be termed convenient per se
2. though hyd, weather on campus is p good except the peak summer months apr-may
3. faculty is very very very sub-par
- most faculty treat teaching as a side job and pursue their phds on the side
- its very common for faculty leave mid-sem and that creates a lot of hassle and disruption
- majority of faculty is made up of 24-28 year olds, who are easier to interact with but the lack of experience is very apparent. many of my questions, esp in subjects like consti and admin go unanswered.
i'm sure the profs are all well-intentioned and trying their best but the college should strive harder to attract good faculty, build a good base and retain the most experienced and beloved profs.
4. student base is good. there is good chunk of students in every batch that places well in national moots. peers are quite competitive and motivated to do well.
5. as someone inclined towards research and writing, i personally found that my peers are not too interested in it. there is almost nobody with good publications anywhere so i wish the college did more in that area
6. t&p cell is the weakest link. no proper planning, no strategising whatsoever to help out students. however, i have heard from friends in the t&p cell that they are trying their best. the biggest disadvantage of sls-h is that its quite new.
Does anyone have any tips as to how to go about the internship to make the best possible impression to secure a callback/PPO?
I understand its not guaranteed and I shouldn't be pressuring myself even before the internship has begun but I want to perform my best atleast as its my first T1 Internship.
Tips are appreciated. Thank you so much!
implementing new exam policy where only endsems will be conducted, which have no criteria for marking?
Bringing 3 year llb, which they brought in hurry and made joke of their own by admitting them through graduation marks?
Bringing new hostel policy in which the local students will be kicked out of the hostel??
They may be good professor but a bad administrator.
They do everything without planning and in a haste.
And are they really that good cause all of your student body is against them and organising a protest against them?
No one stood against prof. Faizan?? Why ?? Because he was a good administrator and good professor.
Even if you lose 2-3 years of PQE, I think that's a good compromise if you move to a practice area you enjoy. If you hate the practice area, you'll probably quit in a few years anyway. If you enjoy it, you'll continue for a while. So switching practice areas makes no difference in the long run.
Hi brother/sister,
I am looking for friends in better cities in corp law.
Litigation is not rewarding for Non-Nepo kids. I got to know only now after 2 years. Courts were closed for a long time and I could not meet real people and get inside info of influential chambers.
My objective to reach out is not just to mate. I genuinely want to know other senior people regardless the gender.
If something else cooks up as a by product - well and good. The reason it would not be challenging (smooth) with me marrying/dating older person is because I dont have a big family.
Just me going to court everyday with my senior. We both struggle round the clock. Clients are not interested to pay either in addition to slow pace of disposal in judiciary.
By the way, are not we are mature enough to not take online anonymous forums seriously? Mating & Dating is a serious decision with irreversible/catastrophic consequences in life.
Please act sensibly.
TLDR: In short, dont be a jealous/insecure person
Can we talk privately on IM App / email ?
1. Your placement cell is on steroids, and has finally realized they are paid to do a job. So they get some corps. to hire from your college. Now, these companies descend based on your college. Top 1-4 NLU's get the cream (12LPA CTC), 3-6 ranked NLU's (6-9 LPA). Private college recruits ones range from 4-6 LPA.
2. References,Refrences, References. All the PQE requirements fly out the window if the Head/VP-Legal happens to be your uncle.
Hope this helps.
I have a generic query and was hoping to get some help here. What is the fee refund policy at NLS in case anyone wants to withdraw their admission. I tried googling and looking up on their website but couldn't find anything. Will be grateful if someone could help me out with this.
Thanks!
Given that there isn’t a great record of placements. How is this money going to come back to you ? Assuming you do the best that a student from Jindal can do and you get into a T1, how long would it take to earn back 60 lakhs ? 5 years ? Is that really worth it ?
If you have the option to join an nlu - you should. If you have the option to get a legal education anywhere else for less money- you should take it. Cause the ROI for this degree isn’t there.
And I hate to say it - but a lot of the stuff admissions teams promises you isn’t there either.
I’ve literally never heard any woman at nalsar being worshipped by juniors the way even mediocre men are. If you can’t self reflect- that’s a you problem.
Especially in academic contexts - creating rockstars is just another way to further privilege already privileged folks. On paper - this man is okay- rockstar and all is not there.
With such reading skills you should worry about your future. Please work on your grammar too
Another thing: the women being spoken about should be called housewives instead of tradwives. Because tradwives denotes a conservative political ideology. Just because one is a housewife doesn’t mean one is politically conservative. All tradwives are housewives, but all housewives are not necessarily tradwives.
