The Bar Council of India (BCI) and Maharashtra State Bar Council has cleared GLC Mumbai and all the other Maharashtra government and aided colleges that were under embargo against taking admissions. As per the minutes of Saturday, 3 September’s BCI meeting the colleges can take admissions for the academic year 2016-2017.

The Bar Council of India rejected Maharashtra’s request for time to meet its Legal Education Rules on infrastructure of government and aided law colleges in the state, with the result that those colleges will not be able to take admissions this year, reported the Times of India.

Cash-for-judges scam proceeds: The SC has given the trial court a go-ahead to prosecute former Punjab & Haryana high court judge Nirmal Yadav in the cash-at-judges-door scam. Rs 15 lakh were delivered at the residence of P&H HC Justice Nirmaljit Kaur on 13 August 13 2008, following which she reported the matter to the Chandigarh Police. The money, allegedly meant for Yadav, was said to have been delivered to Kaur due to confusion over their names [Zee News]

MPL 4: Where Indian mooting lives NLSIU Bangalore defeated GLC Mumbai to win the 2013 edition of the Jessup South India Rounds last weekend, also going on to win the best memorial award with Raag Yadava bagging the best overall speaker citation.

GLC Mumbai student Nivedita Nathani was hit and killed by a car on Thursday night, when crossing the road on her customary after-dinner walk near the NCPA arts centre at around 11pm.

The 19-year-old driver took Nathani to hospital where she died of head injuries. The driver was arrested for culpable homicide and rash and negligent driving, but was later released on bail. He was not intoxicated according to reports [via Indian Express / TOI]
