1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Jindal kids called parents and arranged money to aquire the law firms itself.
This is not a hookup or just some joke.
How to navigate this. It's super weird for me while he is fine with this. Any female perspectives would be appreciated. I am not confident.
Old pillars of luthra Vikas Srivastava senior partner tax and samir dudhoria senior partner Mergers and acquisitions, Have quit. Never got reported anywhere.
What happened to litigation between mohit and luthra?
Litigation between Bobby, sudhir, luthra and mohit?
Litigation between vijay sondhis family and luthra/bobby/sudhir ?
Will Harry fit the MP profile? Can he replace luthra ? Will other partner accept him as their leader and boss.
We want to know.
cracking an aptitude test is your greatest achievement. then a good chunk of yall comfortably slip into generic meaningless activism, human rights, liberal arts yada yada yada.
sure none of yall have an as comprehensive knowledge of subjects as a CS exe student.
He took a drop year and kept on fighting for NLS. In the day and era where we criticise politician’s son , this news is talked about very less. Really nice to know this
Harry Chawla returns to Luthra. Is this a move in the right direction?

1. Pls tell me whatever you have to tell abt practice, revision, test series, targets setting. What are the high priority subjects?
2. What are the free resources available for this? Are they enough?
3. How to manage exam prep with college? Sharing a sample time table or sthing wud greatly help.
4. A broad plan as to you should finish so much by sep, so much by Oct, so much by Nov. Please!
5. What to focus on in the last minute? Anything that'll help an aspirant in the last minute.
6. What mistakes you made that you want me to avoid?
Thank you so much.
Atlas Law Partners, a boutique but full service law firm, based out of Delhi and Gurugram, has merged into Luthra and Luthra. This has led to the infusion of 33 lawyers into the Luthra fold - including 7 partners.
Moreover, Harry Chawla (a pupillage of Rajiv Luthra), the founder of the ALP, has been made a Managing Partner at Luthra.
Will this merger help Luthra and Luthra which has been ailing for the past couple of years with Saraf's exit and Rajiv's demise? Is the appointment of the new MD, a sign of good things to come in the managing committee of the firm?
What are your opinions about this news?

Can you please tell me what exactly did you do to make this switch? It would be very helpful. Thank you
What's with this?
Is this correct or should I modify?
Lemme go- One senior at my internship (who is quite a senior advocate) took the time to sit me down, mentor me through files, took me to court and explained the nuances of practice, made me sit with clients and understand their problems, discuss it with him and suggest strategies.
I know this is actually a normal mentorship, but it's hard to find seniors who actually take the time these days and not going behind ulterior motives.
Your comment reeks of entitlement and hierarchal mindset. Wait till you get to law firms to be degraded by that and then rant about it again.
Harry Chawla assumes the role of Managing Partner at Luthra and Luthra Law Offices.

For Atlas to get its 27 lawyer firm to join L&L is no small task. The democratization has started again after burning fingers with Mohit Saraf.
I also heard that a few ▮▮▮ are back in hostel AND their CO-ED hostel. ▮▮▮
To the survivor(s): I believe you. I am so sorry that this happened to you. You are not alone. There are people in the NLU and legal fraternity who care about you and want to help. Please reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or counselor. You are not to blame for what happened. To the student body: We must all stand up against sexual assault. We must create a culture where survivors feel safe to come forward and perpetrators are held accountable. If you see something, say something. We must all work together to make our NLUs a safe space for everyone.
Modi won because the people support him, or at least see him as a better option compared to Rahul, Mamata, Lalu etc.
Given all the rants that I have been reading about Legally India, I was thinking about launching a new website similar to LI? Would love to hear your thoughts on what you guys would like / not like on the new website?
Unlike Legally India (which also used to do a lot of legal news reporting), the main purpose of the new website would be to allow users to create posts/threads, comment on such posts/threads, and discuss anything related to law.
So just chill and wait for 2 months more to get the whole picture.
You can start with asking basic questions such as.
Can I have an account in a German bank, while being a resident of India, for transferring my domestic income to the German bank? What are the compliances I need to follow?
How can I purchase a property in Nigeria using funds in my bank account in India?
Now just extrapolate the above questions over to a business context.
What are the compliances local PE must follow for transferring income generated in India to their parent company's bank account in Germany?
What are the compliances to be followed for an Indian company for transferring funds to a Nigerian bank account for spending towards buying land in Nigeria for constructing a factory.
Most of the privileged kids don’t care to use their privilege for good. They’d rather complain to their parents about strict teachers and try and get them fired.
Naveen Jindal and his admin are not as ideologically driven as you think - they’re all about survival.
You must be living in a bubble to think any of what you have written is true.
Any idea when do they pay and am I needed to follow up with the HR? I interned at the Hyderabad office and its been almost a month now. Am I needed to send a follow up mail or just wait patiently.?
Secondly, the situation with Jadavpur is very different. Firstly the people who participated in torturing the said student(s) were mostly passouts. They obtained their degrees back in 2017-2019 and have somehow managed to remain back in the university campus sheerly because of their political connections within the leftist outfits.
Thirdly, the outlash of resentment at JU comes for multifaceted reasons. As a guy from Calcutta, JU has always defended their abject substance abuse with the phrase "Agey chance peye dekha" which translates to first get an admission within the campus. If that was not all, the college campus is a breeding ground for various student unions, most of which have been known to be vocal about the injustices perpetrated by the government. They have harassed the Governor and other faculties within their campus for what they claimed as their democratic right (the veracity of this claim is not something that I am questioning). However, when it came down to one of their own students, the unions and most of the administration went silent or deflected the questions with very outlandish answers.
As for self-reflection, I come from a state university with the worst of managements, but we were never ragged. The only compulsion that we faced from time to time was to openly support the political party, whichever that may be, was in power. Bullies thrive in groups and the silent treatment do not work out. If you have been bullied, please speak out and get help. The internet, despite sometimes being cruel, is a wonderful place and you will get your share of justice.
JGLS: 😎
Seriously though, the key to inviting A-listers is for student bodies to put aside politics and personal egos and work unitedly. This is where Jindal scores.
Not only did no one say this is for SC, it would not be sufficient for SC by a long margin: the constitution requires 10 years practice and the settled practice is not to elevate anyone before 45, unless it's a special case (HMJ Arun Misra's brother, for instance).
The point is that the tier-1 NLUs have other opportunities that these tier 1.5s simply don’t.
Then again, unless you're a nepo kid or an exceptional overachiever from a T1 NLU, it's unlikely that they'll even consider hiring you.
Received a callback offer or reference (to a better firm) at every internship I pursued.
Multiple firms - including T1s & T2s - expressed interest in offering PPOs, I accepted an offer from a team of my choice at a T1.
Open to learning new things & helping others.

I would be really grateful for any helpful advice!
The thrill and adrenaline of going to the court is way too high for me. I actually get to read and apply, and, at the very least, I am observing people to do so. But, such a magnificent field, has its own barriers - the pay. Unless, I get more than 40K a month, it would be very difficult to survive in Delhi. Bleak chances.
Judiciary is also a great option. The satisfaction of studying everyday seriously for an exam is also great for me. But, it is risky. What if I fail? Then I don't have any backup.
I am thinking of giving litigation a chance, and if I fail or see that the future is bleak, then I will leave law altogether and get an MBA.
This question is addressed to SAs, PAs and Partners; what advice would you give to A0s looking to do their best and stick it out at T1s?
I'm from the 2024 batch and I'm genuinely excited to join a T1, albeit slightly nervous because of all the rants I see on LI. I understand that grit is key to succeeding in law firms, and also that this is not for everyone and I respect that, but I'd like to stay on and not burn out in a year (although some people make this sound like an eventuality).
Are the claims about the work life balance and general toxicity of T1s exaggerated? I know that this depends on the firm and the team, but how is it that people across firms and practice areas make this claim?
I'm willing to work hard and keen to prove myself, but I don't want to do this at the cost of my health or sanity. I'd like to get 7 hours of sleep most nights (the occasional exception is completely understandable) and work with nice people.
I understand and acknowledge that A0s know nothing compared to the SAs and Partners who have decades of experience, and that the hierarchy that people sometimes complain about is completely justified (as long as the partners are still kind and have not completely forgotten what it's like to be a junior).
I have a lot of time on my hands this year. What can I do to make the process a little easier for myself next year? Are there skills that I can work on improving now? A few seniors told me to chill all year because I'll never get this kind of time back, seems valid too. Thoughts on this?
What are some things you wish you could say to A0s or your juniors to help them with their performance but you can't because it would be misconstrued?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Really hoping to hear some responses from senior associates and partners
- An optimistic incoming A0 at a T1
This case is now trending after the murder of the JU student, but his case needs more national traction. Unfortunately, the dead student is from a poor Assamese Muslim family who don't have contacts and can't speak English, so the national media is ignoring it!
Both the JU and IIT raggers deserve capital punishment and we need to EXPEL anyone who rags.
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/another-ashoka-professor-pulapre-balakrishnan-quits-over-research-paper-faculty-writes-support-letter-4302608
But remember that OpIndia and similar RW sites have targeted Jindal profs too. There have been multiple cases where RW students secretly recorded "anti-national" lectures by JGLS professors and leaked them online. So why are only Ashoka profs quitting? Is it because:
- The admin at Jindal is more supportive?
- Naveen Jindal's clout?
-Jindal has an "insurance policy" where children of politicians/IAS officers of all hues study on scholarships, so they are safe from raids etc?
- Jindal has a few RW profs too, which gives them immunity?
- Ashoka only offers liberal arts, which is an inherently LW field and more dangerous to the state compared with law?
We won't be getting internship opportunities or PPOs henceforth. Yay.
Have been visiting this site for about 10 years.
I don't think there are many independent practitioners on this website.
All the best!
Atleast you got a T1 job. I had everything you got minus the T1. My mistake - I let the self-esteem issues overpower my very existence. I could overcome it only by completely detaching from law, and then coming back to it again using my own power and capacity without the afterglow of my NLU. This is the worst possible advice anyone could give, but that's all I could end up doing.
That was a tough one. :)
Equity Partner at a Tier 1 firm in Bombay, been at the Corp grind for a while now, slinging it in M&A.
I remember the earliest days of LI when folks would comment under their real names, fond memories.
Glad to see this being revived :)
Vinayak Shete of Kotak also comes to mind.
