People are not that much aware of corporate law firms. Lmao someone in my friend circle thought Amarchand is an oil brand. They have heard about corporate law and since that’s emerging , it’s cool to them. But they are still hung over 3.5 CR package form IITs. Can’t blame them ofc. People hardly know nlsiu or nalsar (although they have been providing exceptional packages considering the date of establishment). People also produce organismic reactions when you tell them about clat but don’t know anything about magic circle law firms. That’s the reality.

Honestly it burns down to what you are looking for.
Career guidance as to different fields and options you can pursue?
They can help streamline your options, choices, give you their inputs based on their exposure and experience. Can help you with Resume, Cover letter building, acting interviews etc. But I honestly don't think they can help you ACE placements nor can they provide you with suitable leads or opportunities.

I would rather talk to someone who has gone through the same grind, from a similar background and who has made it, to understand the process. Of course, it is not a straijacket formula.

If the choice is between NUJS and NLUD for a “quality” education, I would pick NLUD any day. And I know enough people from NUJS to realise the place only attracts people due to its alumni legacy and apparent placement numbers. In the present era, the place is hardly in the same league as NLUD.

Everyone knew that the system of having contractual faculty/workers was problematic, from the lowest level staff to the professors it was the administration which decided to double down by challenging the order of the Rajasthan HC which held the policy to be illegal and unconstitutional, when they should have instead accepted the order of the court, they instead wasted time and money to challenge the order in the SC. So yeah I believe that the SC rebuking them publicly was a good thing and was a positive news for the entire University as it brought the issue to the limelight and will be good for the university in the longer run.

I'm a bit surprised that you didn't make any mention of what you want to do. Please focus on that and decide firms rather than the other way round. That's a sure shot way of sending up unhappy.

On your question - in 3rd year, unless you're exceptional - you will not be considered seriously for any job etc. May as well use a firm where you think learning is more than just a brand name. See where your college seniors are and if they're willing to help/ guide you at the firm.

Oh enough, it’s pretty obvious that the only reason you guys even have more numbers is because of alumni connections and the fact that academic rigour in your college is literally foresaken for students to keep interning while skipping classes and exams. this is true. JD admissions in the US are extremely tough. During my time at a t6 some of the JD students were literally PhDs. Also, they don't do law straight out of school but I don't know if that makes any difference as such. India has a lot of law schools and no offence but like someone else said, you can literally buy law degrees in India. Another thing - clearing the bar exam there is a big deal because it is tough. AIBE is the biggest joke ever.

My heart goes out to the kids who have had to recount and write all those horrific accounts. However, knowing what I do of NLU admins, they will try their damndest best to brush everything under the carpet or not take cognisance of this at all. This is more important than stupid things like NIRF, NAAC, Moot Court wins and even placements.

If one has got enough money to pay people for doing menial labour on their behalf, then there is nothing wrong with that.
