We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.

More because of Clat now which is a big deal.
But still the profession itself hasnβt been able to penetrate the masses and in US law is a big deal. The very important presidents are lawyers. What happened?
Wherever you decide to choose university, take into consideration whether the city offers enough opportunities for you to intern in litigation space side-by-side your academics.
Delhi is the hub of litigation and therefore, I repeat, it makes a perfect case for you. However, whether you harness the locational advantage and get into litigation space graciously, will entirely depend upon your hardwork in these 5/6 years.
Also there is Aditya Birla scholarship
What yβall think? I hope modiji takes a strong stance to punish the offenders.
Globally, all law firms of any serious repute are named after their partners.
Hope you enjoy your time Lex-genius and associates.
So itβs all politics at the end of the day, coupled with the attitude of Gen Z. NUJS is merely a symptom not the disease. And itβs happening elsewhere too. Look at GNLU.
Now RW mods will mark this as trollish.

I have an interview lined up with DSK Delhi office for Lit. Should I reconsider?

If anyone says they do have a life they're lying. Having to work on the weekends is not having a life by any measure. Then you're just a one dimensional individual - which most law firm employees are. They make faces when you talk of hobbies and interests as if they are sins.
Yes, you may tell yourself it fulfills you, but c'mon who are we fooling. If it fulfills you, then work on the weekends, let your associates be. Will you do that ? I doubt, because it only fulfills your bank account. In a corporate set up, no need to work on weekends, it's just greed.
I'm not even talking of personal lives here.
I am a lawyer, but in litigation happened to be on the other side and experienced how dirty can some lawyers be. Client ko rula rula ke, uske paiso se apne alishaan bungalow bana rahe hai wakeel aur client bechara road pe aajata hai.
I just wanted to know what kind of questions can I expect during an interview at a T1, especially if I am aiming for GC/ M&A/ PE roles? Also, will my experience be discounted if I am switching from a Tier 3?
First things first, yes, the parking is an issue but only if you come post 10 a.m. as the said building, i.e., Emerald House that houses KCo shares the same boundary with the Calcutta HC; that being sad, parking in general is very doable.
Secondly, as for the infrastructure, just because the building is wooden and old-school does not make the overall infrastructure poor. Starting from conference rooms to library to washrooms to e-facilities, at par with any other office. I do not blame you to not know the same as an intern, but what's an issue is assuming things basis the little you see.
Food- as good as it gets; wonder why you did not swiggy in case the options in and around bothered you, as you'd get a couple of 1000 options.
Coming to work, many of us have worked at other tier-1s and have shifted for whatever reason, and we can shift out if the need be as well- just to make you understand, we work on all such pan-India deals as other offices and the work is as good as it gets, mostly in all teams.
We get paid the same, do the same work and at also need to put in the 'n' no of hours needed. My advice to you is work hard, get into a tier-1 of your liking and leave the city if you want, but do not speak without knowing what's what.
I want a rough estimate
The loan determines your career choice. You can't do litigation or pursue higher studies or do grassroot level work or even most kind of policy work, especially if you would become a primary bread earner in the family after graduation.
The fact is that men and women are biologically different and each is suited better for different things.

"They say it's a stroke, Ram", said Shastri, "he looked perfectly fine yesterday. I'm just... shocked...."
"It's a shock to everyone, Ganesh" replied Ram, and then quickly glanced at Sashikala. The Prime Minister and the Chief Justice were informed of the tragedy and immediately requested to come to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
As Shastri saw a faint ray of sunlight in the sky from his office window, still deeply shook, there was a knock on his office door. "Come in!"
"Sir, we have arranged the press release", informed Kiran, the secretary to the President.
"Very well, thanks Kiran."
"One other thing, Sir. You will have to move to the President's office, and also appoint an acting Vice President" said Kiran.
"Very well, I'll get to it."
As Kiran left the office, it seemed to Shastri, for a second, that she gave a remonstrating look at Ram and Sashi. He wondered if it implied something. Perhaps it's nothing, and he just needs sleep. Or, maybe, it has to do with what Naik had shared with him a few days ago. That a major amendment was in the pipeline. Was Naik's death really of natural causes? The Director of AIIMS strongly reassured Shastri personally that there was no foul play involved. Good timing for Naik. He did not have to sign that godforsaken amendment. But now it's stuck with him.
---
It has been three days since Naik's death, and the piercing sense that there is something undiscovered about his untimely demise continued to haunt Shastri. Not least considering that he was informed by the Russian President, when the latter had called to convey his condolences, that there were a few urgent matters that he had to inform Naik of right away. When he pressed his counterpart on what they pertained, he was only informed that it is of grave concern directly concerning Shastri, and that it would be best if he came to Moscow personally.
"I can't possibly do a state visit at this time, Nikita. It is inappropriate, and also I'm not sure of the necessity" Shastri had bemoaned.
"I understand that Ganesh. But what I have to share with you is not only urgent but gravely important", protested Nikita Vladislav, a man who had had a great rapport and friendship with Naik, and also Shastri, on previous occasions. "How about this? There is a development conference happing at Tashkent next Wednesday. Many heads of states are flying in for that. I'll get an official invite sent over to you. We can talk there."
Shastri had acquiesced, if only to not seem obstinate at the face of "grave concerns." Everything is a "grave concern" in this new digital age. But Shastri did not want to take a chance, just in case it was, even remotely, a "grave concern".
---
Next Monday
"I am sorry, Madam Prime Minister. But I just cannot assent to that. I have no other choice than to resign if you do pass this in the parliament. I just cannot be a party to these amendments" rebuked Shastri. The Prime Minister had requested an appointment with him very early in the day to discuss government business. As he feared, it was about the proposed amendments, which she promptly brought soon after the usual pleasantries.
"But Sir... This is the best cour..." she was about the say, before Shastri cut her mid-sentence, "I'm sorry, I just cannot. Now if you will please excuse me, I have another meeting already scheduled."
Sashikala looked pale, and then crimson-faced. She walked out of the room in quite an angry stride.

Tuesday:
As Shastri was perusing a paper in from him, listing the official recipients of this year's Bharat Ratna and Padma Awards, he could not get rid of the ominous feeling that has been haunting him ever since he was awoken by Mirza that fateful night. It always found a way to return.
A knock on the door...
"Yes, come in" beckoned Shastri.
"Sir, some bad news" informed Kiran. "The scheduled Air India One seems to have encountered an engine issue. And stupidly enough, they did not think of pre-arranging an alternative. They have arranged for the MI-17 chopper to take you to Tashkent tomorrow."
"Ah, I see. No worries, that's fine Kiran. Let them go ahead."
In present time, if you prefer one over other purely based on the factors outside the control of the one getting the favour - it is discrimination. There is not two thoughts about it. However, this discrimination is based on good reasons and not because somebody thought that they are superiors than others and thus, these others should not be provided with anything except bare sustenance.
Also, I reiterate that century long discrimination led to a society getting marginalised. And, it has always been projected as the reason for providing reservation.
1. Not really, I am from the batch of 2027 and its still 3LPA for us. It will not increase for existing batches. It increases for incoming batches and the same fees continues for 5years.
2. Why? Look at it as an investment. After 5 years, even if you get a mid-tier job, you can easily pay the loan back in 5-6 years. After that, you can earn for the remainer of your life.
I agree with the rest of the points!
Private placement is when shares are offered to a pre-identified investor or group or investors. This is different from a public issue when shares are offered to public at large. A preferential allotment can be by way of a private placement or public issue.
I will say this again , you didnβt make the cut and it isnβt ours fault. You couldβve reattempted but again no one is eager to teach diligence to you.
Also have you seen nlujβs alumni? So many people are in foreign consultancy firms and law firms. Nujs only focuses on domestic placements (I mean largely)
1. The fee (4.13 lacs) is only for the academic year 2024-25. It will increase every year after that.
2. Student loans are a bad idea at all times.
3. Don't rely on scholarships.
4. Expect other NLUs to also raise the fees as well.
5. The fee at NUJS is not less either (it is 4 lacs per year for its BSc-LLB program).
6. All NLUs are state institutions struggling for funding, hence the high fee is needed to survive.
leave that- why do you want to lose your opportunity to learn by using anyone elses notes?
Atleast I don't. I prefer the age gap to be +/- 1 year!
Making conversation is still a little daunting, and I prefer email/text over meeting or phone calls. I'm still quite surprised that I have made it to where I have.
I don't think having a negligible social life will affect you in any way professionally, at least not for the first few years.
Hopefully, things will work out for you too. All the best.
It is so good to see that a lot of capable women are being appointed as the VCs in various NLUs

Students should behave like adults. Why to post about internal affairs of college to allow others to take a shot and in turn put rankings down?
