Currently, I have a callback from SAM, Mumbai (Gen Corp or Disputes) and Trilegal, Mumbai (M&A) for November.
Trilegal can't be moved to December (No slots). SAM I might be able to move it (but will set a bad impression if I ask them to move now)
What do I do?
I have a keen interest in the intersection of technology and law. Could you kindly recommend potential career paths in this field? Additionally, I'm looking for suggestions on law firms where I could pursue assessment internships. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. 🤔
she shouldn't be ur friend
If a partner is giving you stuff cuz ur a beautiful girl, you shouldn't join there anyway, as the intention is not the make them work or teach them the ropes.
They literally have a bouffet lunch everyday, apart from the 16k stipend, a high(est) salary as an A0
Please introspect and understand where you are going wrong, this is going to help you heaps in future.
Making unnecessary observations such as these are not going to get you anywhere in life brother. I hope you realize this before its too late.
I want to change my practice area from PE/VC and M&A to Banking and Finance. I have 2 years 9 months of experience.
How should I approach partners for the same over LinkedIn. Any tips would be appreciated.
In in-house what you negotiate is what you get. Of course if you are a great lawyer and a Tier 1 grad and T1 law firm you will get a good kickstart if not you will start at much below. An inhouse lawyer at say 3 or 4 years PQE may be earning as little as 40 or 50 k to as high as 1 lakh. The range becomes even more miserable at say 8 years PQE. It may range from 15 lakhs to 50 lakhs per annum (ball park, of course there are outliers) depending on what background you are from and what you bring to the company and which sector you are working on. This sheer range makes it difficult to have any set data. The typical in house team is so small that it makes no sense to compile a company wise list of salaries, something which is much easier to do when you are just compiling a Big 7 law firm list.
They are quite responsive if they find you to be a good fit.
Summary:
1. Yashica: Y'all copied the story from my book "Coming Out as Dalit". I demand credit! 😭
2. Creators: Not just you. Many have written on it. Sumit, Suraj Yengde etc. 😒
3. Neeraj Ghaywan: No credit needed. "Coming out" is an old term and Sumit wrote a popular article on coming out as a queer Dalit way before your book. 🤣🤡 Also, Pallavi Menke herself is Dalit. 😎
3. Sumit: Gurrrl, don't be a hypocrite and hater. Copyright Law 101: you have no copyright merely in the idea of coming out. Also, you wanna talk about credit then why didn't YOU credit ME in your book? Also, the real credit goes to 1950s Marathi Dalit writer Baburao Bagul, whose article precedes even mine. Just coz we write in English doesn't mean we shouldn't give vernacular writers credit. 😡
4. Yashica: Bruh, I never even heard of your article. I only read it now. Many people never read it. 🥸
5. Crowd: Yeah, right. 🙄
6. Me: Even those who don't research on the subject have seen Sumit's article. Our socio prof shared it with us in first year and it's been shared on many forums. What kind of researcher are you, Yashica? 🤨

The accused senior student is said to have forced the first-year students to carry out tasks for him late at night, even resorting to threats and derogatory remarks targeting their caste and family when they resisted. The victims expressed their fear and apprehension, revealing that some were reluctant to leave their rooms after dark to avoid encounters with the accused.
The situation escalated as the senior student reportedly demanded inappropriate actions for his amusement and even locked one of the victims inside their room, coercing them to go to the night mess.
In a chilling twist, the victims claim that the senior student warned them against reporting the incidents, threatening to isolate their batch from the seniors and jeopardize their future job placements.
These allegations have deeply affected the first-year students, leading to sleepless nights and emotional distress as they grappled with the senior's offensive remarks and personal attacks on their families.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to do better (including being involved in "monumental deals") but the headlines and work exp. definitely come at a cost:
Health; The hours in a "T1" office are going to have an adverse impact on your health. The stress that comes with the "monumental deals" will compound the adverse effect of the hours. The money you see your T1 friends make will start going towards medical expenses more and more, as you age. I'm only speaking of physical health here. Mental health is subjective since different people respond to things differently but do remember that the depression and mental fatigue runs high in those offices.
Personal relations; spending 17 hours in office doesn't really help build personal relations. In fact, I've noticed that many T1 lawyers are quite jaded even if they may appear (albeit superficially) to be rather jovial and people. The availability of time also helps you to be a better human, understand yourself and be a better person - this will help you be a better person. More T1 lawyers than I know are hiding from their shit by spending all their time in office/working.
Money; truth be told, after a point, the money doesn't feel enough. Which is quite astounding considering you'll be one of the best paid individuals in your age bracket in the country. But what the T1 life asks of you, it doesn't compensate for. It's significant but just enough that you can get used to the monthly deposit and live a comfortable and indulgent life. The chances of building generational wealth are rather low.
I do this job only because some people in my family made certain financial decisions which had the negative effects that they did. I'd have left long back had I been in a position to live peacefully with a lot less money coming in.
But I get your point. Peace and tranquility are important aspects and I 100% stan a balanced life.
The NLUO is heading to scale new heights.
I sincerely hope Arghya does not endorse the Hindu nationalist viewpoint that we need to "de-colonise" the Constitution to reflect "Indian civilisational values".

From what I've heard the firm is bouncing back real hard. Have been hiring partners left right and center..all the SA, PA are from top five law school, therefore there must be some incentive for them that they have stuck around for so long.. otherwise they could have gone anywhere
Are things really that repulsive in there?
PhD is a new norm.
So far, I have not received any response. Can anyone tell me if sending cold e-mails like this works? Do partners bother opening their emails from students?
Is there a way I can score a decent internship in any other way? Help!
I am working in-house (legal department at a well known investment bank), earning decent money. Definitely not as much as my T1/T2 Law Firm Collogues. I am very much aware of the kind of life peeps at law firms suffer. However, I still have massive FOMO from time to time. I feel like I am missing out on some divine law firm experience while also being aware of the ground realities.
May be the fact that I am earning 50% of what I could earn if I were working as an associate in a law firm is haunting me and perhaps aiding my FOMO or may be I feel like I could do so much more and would love to be involved in monumental deals of the country.
I am here to seek your advise- am I being childish here or is this feeling temporary and fade away with time?
Thanks in advance to everyone who may call me dumb in 1000 different languages, but this has been bothering me for quite some time and I could'nt find a better place other than LI to ventilate my thoughts.
If you plan to make CLAT inclusive, you also have to make sure the System is ready and capable of working as efficiently (Not saying the system is efficient, but at par) with what is there right now.
Regards.
How is 2024 & 2025 batch otherwise? when it comes to placements, of course not through the PC. I understand majority come from bg where they don't gotta work. But otherwise, how are the internships & placements..Why are the PC stats not even updated post 2018? Considering the exorbitant fees taken, I genuinely don't see anything substantial being offered...
No resistance from students either.
It’s funny because you’d expect a university which is so academics & attendance oriented to have good academics.
Which universities are generally classified as "mid russell"?
He is the rockstar in the legal field. Now people especially NLS fanboys will start drawing a comparison of him with sudhir
Sorry for the typo
Also have to work hard for ailet now :(
(I may end up receiving a tier-3 nlu as clat is unpredictable and my above comment may reek of arrogance is top tier nlu is not easy to get but this is a blatant fee surcharge from NLS)
