FYI dropping is very normal and not a problem. There are ZILLIONS of NLU grads who are doing vey well in their careers after dropping.
1. Law schools: NLSIU retains #1 NIRF spot, but goes Rhodes-less for yet another year
2. Law firms: Foreign law firms still not allowed. UK FTA signed without a legal liberalisation clause
3. Politics: Modi and Trump win
4. Sport: India puts on best ever show at the Olympics
5. Showbiz: Taylor marries Travis
We will sue it again until it complies, canโt wait for the VC and registrar to be summoned before judges to explain why it has not implemented HC order in last 16 months :)
I read the few PhD threads active now and that person is just spamming NIRF data everywhere claiming IITkgp as best law school.
I mean, why even bother ? Since most people with an LLM here are one year ones. Whereas IITkgp clearly states a 2 year llm is needed. So the only people going to IITkgp for a PhD are from non-nlu colgs.
Most questions that will come up in the first few years of competitive exams would be; how is it different from the old ? what are new things added ? What punishments are different? Where have the changes been ?
The concepts will remain the same. The only thing that changes is numbers, whether sections or in years of punishment. But majority would focus on difference between the old & new.
Here's some expert advice if you may :)
1. Moots, at whatever stage, in whatever subject, with whatever prizes or positions, hold no value in terms of your CV for internships/ jobs in corp law firms, in house teams, litigation chambers, policy firms etc. Nowhere. Not even moot court committee memberships.
2. Here's how your CV is vetted- Your college- rank- your past internships if relevant to the team- publications
That's it.
So when you apply to HRs, they check your college. If you aren't from the top ones, you need to be a topper. Then you are arranged across different category of students and objectivily shortlisted. So ranks 1- 25 from NUJS> ranks 1-5 HNLU> Rank 1 GLC. The shortlists are further shortlisted by associates looking at your past internships and relevance to their work and your publications for objective analysis. They may actually open one and read it.
The shortlists are interviewed by partners and confirmed. Yes, the partner may like to converse about the moot, but it doesn't matter at all.
Therefore, moot for the spirit and thrill but don't let it curtail your academics and internships.

See I understand youโll be a lil confused as to whether you need to take a drop. Tbh, getting a T1 NLU could give you a head start as some of these ppl here have pointed out. I think that you need to take a risk here. Maybe give yourself one year of your life to stay at home and prep for CLAT and NLuD. If it works out, your efforts would not have gone for waste. Youโll get all you want. In case it doesnโt work out, maybe join a private college or a lower ranked NLU and work your ass off ( you need to work hard where ever you end up at). So try this option out. Sort of a middle ground. I really donโt believe that ppl who are advising you against taking a drop had actually taken a drop. So think a lil carefully before deciding on what to do.
In the event I am unable to find a job outside India, and I am forced to come back, would it be easy for me to find a job at a Tier-1 law firm?
What would the process be like?

War aside (agreed generally with your points) why do left liberals always side with the Islamic side of the story when Islam is unabashed in its hatred of anything that isn't patriarchal. Why can't true Hindus (who aren't basically copying the cultlike attributes of abrahamic faiths) and liberals unite for a better world?

2. Save and invest your current earnings.
3. Move to your state capital and work with one of the designated senior counsel's chambers.
4. Get your T3 lawyer network to send you their writ petitions, appeals etc.
Is it ok to leave for health reasons?

State Universities (both MNLU and Javdavpur) main sab chalta hai. Why do you think people prefer national universities?
Read Douglas Murray's on-ground coverage of this conflict before filibustering us with your views.
Here's a recent debate of his vs Cenk Uygur - http://tinyurl.com/56dd4bex
It's a tough call tbh. All three of these colleges will provide you with a good launchpad but just because mnlu is a newer institution, prefer the first 2 colleges over it.
Do people get more than that for 2024 batch?
What a victory!

Due to certain family issues, I do not want to burden my parents by making them support me for another few years while pursuing litigation. I want to become financially independent as soon as possible.
The firm's I interned at unfortunately don't hire freshers. I've applied to a few places in Delhi for internships, and am awaiting responses.
However, I would much prefer working in Chennai/Banglore. From my preliminary research, tax teams for law firms tend to be centred around Bombay and Delhi. Delhi is still somewhat possible, but Bombay will be unaffordable for me.
Are there any good tax firms down south which pay a decent salary? If not, I would be grateful for some leads in direct/international tax in Delhi as well. Have less than 6 months before I graduate. I know it's very late, but I intend to make the best of the time I have left.
Thanks :)
While my preparation for technical round is in full swing, I received rather curious advice today; directly meet/approach partners don't waste time applying on career pages or cold emailing.
Has anyone ever given this a go? Rest assured I've already started meeting people and won't hesitate to be more aggressive and solicit partners directly
Once you base your entire argument on IIT KGP falsifying data, this is a dead discussion. To assume that an institution like IIT KGP is falsifying data (year after year) and no one noticed it is laughable. I would rather believe IIT KGP than you. After this whatever you say does not matter. As someone already commented - the bottom line is that IIT KGP SOL scores the highest in research in the law category and that does not change. State NLUs can remain in their la-la-land and state of denial while the sand shifts right under their feet.

Prolly a dumb question, but it's my first Tier 1 internship.
Dunno about Lu. But Sar... Surely.
I've done my LLB & LLM from DU. I am a gold medalist in both those courses. Due to family circumstances I sadly would not be able to pursue my Ph.D from abroad. I'm left with the option of Jindal or NLS, if I genuinely want to pursue at the best institute of the country.
However, in both those case. Jindal only takes in candidates that have a LLM from abroad. NLS only takes in candidates from NLS,NALSAR or NLUD. Therefore, does a non-nlu student like me, despite having excellent records have a chance ?
Should I even try to apply at Jindal & NLS knowing that there is a clear partiality at these institutions. Or should I try for other NLUs or IITs if I want to be the best ??
Please provide a helpful and honest reply.
Prof. Lakshminath was asked to leave CNLU by protest of students in 2019, and still he wishes to continue to ruin law schools in the name seniority, caste and polities. selling LLd and ph.d . No one know where are his 150 phd scholars and 50 LLD scholars in India or abroad.
Only God save, MNLU, Aurangabad. I think God is also afraid. fate of students at stake.
I am not sure under which law he is acting as Vice-Chancellor in charge at the of 83, Indian Legal Education Rocks. Jai Hind.
Hope this University's will be no 1 in Maratha region.by 2024
If you don't want to do llm then join a LPO. 2-3 year work exp from there will help you get in somewhere. Atleast in a tier2. Bro it's all about stacking up the experience
Are you guys giving MPCJ pre too?? If yes, how are you balancing DJS mains with MPCJ pre ?
Genuine advice appreciated. No big/ small platform banter.
F all of you who said Jodhpur is not a good location!! Here yโall are obsessing over Delhi and Bengaluru when Jodhpur attracts friggin Dua!!! At least rank Jodhpur better than Gandhinagar and Kolkata guys!!

Just because India failed to retaliate for 26/11 doesn't mean that such foolishness should become state policy for everyone else.
2. May be juvenile, but it still has not led to any real collaboration. So regardless of the reason, the outcome remains.
3. SOL's IP law focus is on pen and paper only. They don't have a single well known IP faculty and the engineering faculty don't even consult them for patent applications and TTAs that come out of IIT KGP. Why don't you check how many of their grads are hired every year by main IP firms like Anand or Saikrishna etc? That will give anyone a realistic idea about how prestigious the department is in the eye of the industry. Also, what innovation?
4. Once again, debunked already. Can you name any credible research output from IIT KGP's SOL as compared to the multiple legal papers and projects that happen in NLUs? Just the number does not mean anything, where is the output?
6. NLU alumni are hardly the industrialists who provide grants. I take your point that NLUs can do better in this regard. Ashoka et al need not be ashamed of their network, the question is what research have they or Jindal produced till date with all that money? There are many faculty in Ashoka who have instead been involved in controversies like plagiarism, research retraction etc.
7. No argument there.
Bottomline: The issues that you highlight are mostly the private versus public debate. Even central universities struggle to do the same things. When is the last time a BHU or a DU received crores of donation from private parties despite having alum capable of doing so? The private universities on the other hand are encouraging research in order to hack rankings and get admission fees as a result, hence they tend to focus on quantity rather than quality. This is a matter that's already being highlighted by academics who are working in the relevant domains, including bibliometric analytics and research culture review.
