Now time for the main talk, NLUJ as a NRI-S category will be much better. The fee is the least plus you have two instalments to pay the amount. Nujs NRI-S honestly wonβt be that good. Being from the college itself, if you are getting a seat here as a general candidate then it might have made sense. GNLU is a good option after NLUJ.
Now, if you are availing loan, then I am sorry, you should avoid this NRI-S category. Because the amount is humongous (another reason to avoid nujs and gnlu). Take whatever general NLU you are getting and retake clat if it makes sense. You may find it difficult to even repay your loans. And I am not talking about 2-3 years. It may sound harsh but this is the reality. In any year, if you have to start the loan, then you are in danger. Avoid.
No offence, but, no one in real world cares about NLUs. Most of my friends don't even know that there are so many NLUs. For them CLAT = NIFT = any central univ like DU. For most of us - any IIT>IIM ABCL >ISB> FMS/XLRI/SRCC/Stephen's.
So, I am the last of the last person to compare NLUs. To be honest, I have deep respect for Faculty of Law, DU. Many aspirants I know, took admission there, met serious candidates, had a conducive environment and were able to crack the UPSC CSE exam. So, it is actually good.
Finally, why blame party X for being intolerant? When law padh ke bhi aap baat baat pe - gtfo bol dete hai? Inclusive, engendered, representative India guided by constitutional morality aise banaiyega?
Ig the only way they'll change is when clients start reading as well or when the SEO becomes so good that their toxic subs are the first thing which pops up when googled.
I m saying this from my close to 9 years of experience in law firms.
plain looking partners on the other hand have to stand out and become the hero of the firm and they know that they cant do it with their looks and neither with their drafting skills cos nobody gives a hoot - so they try to make the most money - buy the 10 lakh rolex and rely on the signalling effect to feel important in the workplace. these guys will spread materialism and shit in front of u if they see u wearing a regular watch cos how else will they feel important ?
am i overthinking or do you feel the same?
I hope there was some valid reason behind it and you are not being a snowflake otherwise you are going to regret it.
P.S. Don't suggest google, I have already read what's written there.

@OP - all the best bro!
See, the complete meltdown he has everyday. I mean literal 0 aim doing anything to keep oneself busy types. He is just trying to find some new intellectually stimulating hobby to do.
I think this whole FIRE and retire early thing is bull. Either have a 100% intellectually stimulating goal ready or don't fall into this trap. Most of our Bank relatives looked fit till they went to their sarkari Bank jobs. Once they retired the problems began.
It is okay to serve people or make some art or open a cafe, but, do it a bit beforehand. Varna kuch se kuch karte rahoge twitter pe.
If you're working somewhere with a lower pay, they'll try to lowball you. Negotiate wisely.
Having worked at a tier one, sheβs got the ear for patient hearing and understands your issues for wanting to switch even if you are unable to fully explain. She guides you, follows up along the process and offer the best advice even if you don't end up taking her services.
Do you not know that there is depth to every law ?
1721 law schools are having more than 2 lakh seats and 1.75 lakh lawyers produced per annum.

Guys, itβs really simple. Itβs basically Sen vs Bhagwati policies. Woke socialism and welfarism will always drag an economy down, while chad growth-oriented policies will always make it rise. Congress needs to shed its socialism, because India has changed.
P.S. Hope libs donβt call the Economist as godi media now π
Practicing in Delhi. Worked for the first two years with an established lawyer, then started on my own. My average earnings have been around 1L pm. About 50% goes into expenses & salaries.
Coming to your case, as HPNLU is near your home you can go for it and visit home every weekend, enjoying home comforts. But you must plan for something afterwards. An MBA is a fine choice and you can start prep now itself.
1. Retire at 60 in 2025 and live till 85 till 2050: 15 crore minimum savings needed
2. Retire at 60 in 2035 and live till 85 till 2060: 20 crore minimum savings needed
3. Retire at 60 in 2045 and live till 85 till 2070: 30 crore minimum savings needed
4. Retire at 60 in 2055 and live till 85 till 2080: 40 crore minimum savings needed
NOTE:
1. If you have dependants, multiply the above by 0.75 for each dependent and add the result to the existing savings.
2. If you think these figures are too high, they are not. A Maruti 800 car, which is the precursor of the Alto, cost Rs 45,000 in 1983. An Alto costs 10 times more today. That's how inflation works. Remember also that health will eat up a big slice of your savings with age: knee replacement, cataract etc.
The reason you get paid so much as a lawyer is due to due to immense work pressure you are subject to. In such a scenario, often people end up blowing money to blow off steam.
Also, when you are seeing everyone around you upgrade their lifestyle, you are also tempted to do the same. Hard to be the odd one out when you are spending 14-16 hours with your colleagues daily.
However exceptions do exist, and if you find such a group dedicated to financial independence, all the best!
